SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Daniel Schneeman hit a three-run home run to keep Justin Verlander winless in a San Francisco uniform, powering the Cleveland Guardians to a 4-2 victory over the Giants on Wednesday night.
Verlander (0-4) allowed four runs (three earned) in 4 2/3 innings after being activated off the Injured List earlier in the day. The nine-time All-Star gave up seven hits and had six strikeouts in his first start since May 18.

Kyle Manzardo doubled twice and Jose Ramirez added an RBI-single to help the Guardians clinch their first series win in San Francisco since 2005. Heliot Ramos homered for the Giants.
Schneeman's home run, his first since May 27, came on an 0-2 fastball from Verlander in the fourth. Carlos Santana reached on a fielding error by second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald and Lane Thomas singled before Schneeman's homer.
Logan Allen (5-4) gave up two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings to get the win for the Guardians.
Matt Festa and Tim Herrin each retired three batters, Cade Smith set down two and Emmanuel Clase got Patrick Bailey to strike out looking in the ninth for his 16th save.

After the Giants' Mike Yastrzemski drew a one-out walk in the seventh then advanced to second on a balk by Cade Smith, Smith worked out of the jam and retired Patrick Bailey and Ramos on consecutive swinging strikeouts.

The 21-time NBA All-Star compared his build to Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson, as James said they have "that same stature as far as build." James also brought up Tony Gonzalez, who played college basketball before eventually turning into a tight end and had an illustrious 17-year career in the NFL that ended in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. "Maybe Tony Gonzalez, with his size, and obviously he played basketball as well. I used to love his celebration when he used to dunk on the goal post too," James said. Gonzalez was six-foot-five and 243 pounds, while Johnson was listed as six-foot-five and 237 pounds during his playing career. The Lakers star said he only "seriously" considered joining the NFL in 2011, during the NBA lockout. "It was 2011 when we had the NBA lockout and, you know, I didn't know when we were going to make the deal with the owners and get our league back going. I actually thought about it a little bit back then. I was still young enough, you know, to get out there with y'all, but that's the only time I've actually seriously considered it," James said. Adams would certainly know what makes a good receiver, as the six-time Pro Bowler has been a top wide receiver in the NFL in his 11-year career. In 164 career games, Adams has 957 career catches for 11,844 yards and 103 touchdowns. Last season, across 14 games with the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, Adams had 67 catches for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. Adams signed with the Rams this offseason and gives the team one of the league's best wide receiver duos alongside star Puka Nacua. Isaac Paredes will replace José Ramírez on the AL's All-Star roster
Houston Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes has been named to the American League All-Star team as a replacement for Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez. It's the second All-Star Game nod for Paredes, who ranks third among big-league third basemen with 19 home runs. Paredes, acquired from the Chicago Cubs over the winter in the Kyle Tucker trade, is slashing .255/.358/.471 for an Astros squad that once again sits atop the AL West. Paredes will join shortstop Jeremy Peña, starter Hunter Brown and closer Josh Hader as Astros representatives on the All-Star roster.
