Sky Player on Temporary Leave Gets Message From Chicago Coach Tyler Marsh
Brazil is moving on to the semifinal of the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup after a dominant 84-61 victory against Mexico on Friday.

This was thanks in large part to a monster performance from Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso, who exploded for 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, 16 rebounds, an assist and two blocks, as she helped lead Brazil to their fifth consecutive win in the tournament.
Cardoso's big outing made all sorts of waves online, and it also drew the attention of Sky head coach Tyler Marsh. The first-year Chicago shot-caller reposted a screenshot of Cardoso's statline from the win against Mexico. Marsh had a wordless message for his center, too, adding three hyped emojis to his post.
Cardoso's performance clearly pumped up Marsh, and the Sky coach just had to express his emotions on Instagram.

Cardoso has missed Chicago's last two games amid her international obligations. She's made sure to make the most out of her time away from her team, though, averaging 13.8 points on 65.9% shooting, 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 blocks as one of the most important players on Brazil's roster.

With their win against Mexico, Cardoso and Co. are headed to the semifinal, where they will face off against rivals Argentina on Saturday.
Should they win that game, Brazil will fight for the gold medal on Sunday against either the United States or Canada.
The Sky, on the other hand, return to action on Sunday in a pivotal matchup against the league-best Minnesota Lynx, and they will still be without Cardoso for that one.

Ex-Real Madrid man and Rangers candidate Davide Ancelotti takes first managerial job
Former Real Madrid assistant manager and son of Carlo Ancelotti, Davide Ancelotti, has taken his first step into management, after four years back at the Santiago Bernabeu. After a number of flirtations with clubs, Ancelotti junior will manage in Brazil for the first time. Ancelotti will become the new manager of Botafogo, as per Marca, after agreeing to a deal with the Brazilian champions. The Italian has a tough act to follow, replacing Renato Paiva, less than a year on from securing the Brazilian title and their first ever Copa Libertadores trophy. Davide Ancelotti has given the green light for a deal. Advertisement Options across Europe for Davide Ancelotti Recent years have seen Davide Ancelotti linked with a number of positions. After becoming a fitness coach for Paris Saint-Germain alongside his father in 2012, he would spend the next 13 years by his side, becoming a coach and then assistant manager. Some of the clubs on his trajectory include Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton before returing to Los Blancos for a second time in 2021. Everton were one of the sides that reached out to Ancelotti to offer him work as the senior man in charge, followed by conversations with Reims last summer, and this year Parma, Como and Rangers. Ancelotti was down to the final pairing for the job at Ibrox, but they decided to appoint Russell Martin instead. Close to father Carlo Ancelotti With Davide landing in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days, he will again be close to his father, who has signed with the Brazil national team until the end of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. It is the first time that Davide has worked without his father, although it would be no surprise if he leaned on him for advice. Advertisement Highly regarded at Real Madrid Davide Ancelotti was well-regarded at Valdebebas, with the young Italian earning praise for his attention to detail, set-piece work and closeness with the players. Naturally, this will be a different job for him now, but in Real Madrid's 2024 Champions League triumph, Davide Ancelotti was afforded plenty of credit.

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki Makes Clear 6-Word Statement on All-Star Game Snub Amid Fan Protests originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Major League Baseball announced its full 2025 All-Star Game selections on Sunday, a news update that had fans howling for change as they attempted to reconcile seeing rosters without many of their favorite local and national players. Advertisement One of the most glaring omissions was Chicago Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki, who has recorded a batting average of .263 on the season so far along with 25 home runs and 77 runs batted in with six games to go in the first half of the 2025 season. Suzuki was not chosen for this year's All-Star team causing fans to lash out on social media. On Sunday, Suzuki made a direct six-word statement on the situation that showed his seriousness. "I'm sorry, but my plans are full," the Japanese MLB star said on Sunday through a translator. Advertisement Suzuki was born in Tokyo in 1994 and was signed away from the Hiroshima Toyo Carp baseball club from the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) league to a five-year, $85 million contract in March 2022. The Cubs' primary designated hitter, he leads MLB in runs batted in and is on pace for what would be an incredible 50 home run, 150 RBI season. "It was a surprise (that Suzuki was left off the team)," WBEZ Chicago radio station sports contributor Cheryl Rate-Stout said to Axios about the Cubs slugger. "He could still be added if any other players drop out," she added, an assertion that Suzuki appeared to put to rest with his comments on Sunday.
