BBC ban Gregg Wallace over lack of ‘confidence' presenter can change behaviour
He was sacked as MasterChef presenter on Tuesday after an inquiry into his alleged inappropriate behaviour, by production company Banijay, BBC News reported.
Wallace, 60, stepped away from hosting the BBC cooking competition last year after a number of historical complaints came to light.
New claims emerged this week about the TV presenter from 50 or more people, to the corporation, with the majority saying he made inappropriate sexual comments, and 11 women accused him of inappropriate sexual behaviour, such as groping and touching, BBC News reported.
Ahead of the inquiry report being published, the Telegraph reported that the TV presenter had been dismissed by the corporation.
In a letter to Wallace seen by the Telegraph, a senior figure at BBC television wrote: 'Given my conclusion, I do not believe that the BBC should make plans to work with you in the future on any of its productions, whether directly or indirectly.
'I have also taken into account whether your behaviour could be improved with training and/or coaching.
'However, having reviewed the 2025 findings, I do not have the confidence that you can change what seems to be learned behaviour for you to make what you perceive to be jokes in the working environment, without understanding the boundaries of what is appropriate.'

The letter continued: 'I do not have confidence that your behaviour can change to ensure there is a sufficiently safe and respectful environment for others working with you in the types of programmes the BBC has engaged you to present.'
Some of the more recent claims include a MasterChef worker who said she tried to complain about comments she alleged he made about her body in 2022, and a former policeman who said he tried to raise concerns after he allegedly witnessed Wallace making inappropriate sexual comments at a charity event in 2023.
The former greengrocer posted a statement on his Instagram page on Tuesday, claiming he had been cleared of the 'most serious and sensational accusations' against him.
The statement said: 'I will not go quietly. I will not be cancelled for convenience. I was tried by media and hung out to dry well before the facts were established.
He also said he recognises that some of his humour and language was inappropriate 'at times' and apologised for this.
Wallace was a greengrocer before he shot to fame fronting BBC shows including Inside The Factory, Supermarket Secrets, as well as MasterChef, Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals.
The most recent series of MasterChef: The Professionals continued to air last year amid allegations against Wallace, but two MasterChef celebrity Christmas specials were pulled from the BBC's schedule in December 2024.
At the time, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said she would look to impose new standards in the creative industry.
A BBC spokesperson said: 'Banijay UK instructed the law firm Lewis Silkin to run an investigation into allegations against Gregg Wallace.
'We are not going to comment until the investigation is complete and the findings are published.'

He said: 'Darren mentions his wife — you hear quite a bit about her. "Bless him, he gets quite choked up when he talks about her. He was really missing her. It was genuine. It wasn't forced. Rob added: 'They are all very strong characters. They developed as they went along, the relationships. Advertisement 'You enjoy seeing people come out of their shell and then the distrust starts. They start saying, 'We're a team'. But that can't last.' At the end of each episode, the players lock themselves in the bus's map room where they have to plant an X on a map to log their guess. In the first episode alone, the hunches vary wildly despite them all being fed the same information. The person whose guess is furthest from the true destination is booted off the bus and sent home. Rob said: 'Throughout the series they'll think they're somewhere and then they'll talk themselves out of it. Advertisement 'The map room bits were so enjoyable. 'We were round the monitors watching them make the decisions. Certain shows have become valuable to people of a certain age who want their family together. That's what was special about the Gavin & Stacey Xmas special "Doubt would enter their mind. Sometimes it was a tiny amount. 'Someone will have gone out because they were 3km out!' Advertisement Rob is aware he is stepping out of his comfort zone and might end up with his first flop. But he's hopeful the pure heart of the show will win through and land fans among families. He said: 'You never know with any TV show, with any theatre show, film, how it's going to do. 'You'd have to be detached from reality to now have your fingers crossed and hope that people respond to it. 'It's the same with Race Across The World. We think, 'Yeah, let's all watch it together'. That's why I'm proud of Would I Lie To You? 'I hope Destination X becomes appointment viewing for a family and everyone will be chipping in and arguing about it.' Rob, who is a dad of five, added: 'If you're anything like me as a parent, you're desperate for the stuff that can get the kids to watch something with you. 'Those shows have become very valuable to people of a certain age who want their family together. Behind the Story: The Epstein files and trouble for Trump
The recent decision by the US Department of Justice and FBI to issue a memo concluding there was no evidence of a client list and that Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide has resulted in some of President Trump's most ardent supporters being very angry with him. Caitríona Perry, BBC News Chief Presenter and host of The President's Path podcast, told Behind the Story some of the loudest voices calling for the publication of the files have gone quiet since they entered the White House. "[FBI director and deputy director] Kash Patel and Dan Bongino were two of the biggest cheerleaders for publishing the Epstein files before they all got into office," she explained. "[Bongino] is now in the administration and is now saying, 'No, there's nothing to see here and you have everything that you've seen'. "That's led to a sort of other conspiracy theory of, 'Well what are they covering up now? Is the President involved here? What have they seen?'" Caitríona said this scenario opens itself up to a number of options. "They've either come into power, and they've seen these files and realised there is no cover up and there is no hoax and truly there is nothing to see here," she said. "Option two is they've seen the files and, there is something to cover up here and 'we better cover it up because it affects all of us'. "Or the other option is they never believed what they were pedalling in the first place and that they were using it to rile up their base - part of all that heat that we saw in the campaign last year. "Obviously none of those three options are very good for any of the people involved." Some of President Trump's supporters have demanded the release of more information on Epstein, causing a fracture within his Republican support base. Mr Trump has pushed back, telling reporters in the Oval Office this week: "It's all been a big hoax." "All the podcasters, the influencers, the high-profile supporters [are] really not satisfied with what they're hearing from the President, what they're hearing from the Attorney General, the FBI director and the deputy director," Caitríona said. "President Trump has kind of given in a little bit to this pressure… He's asked the Attorney General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent grand jury testimony relating to this, subject to court approval." Caitríona said the wording in itself is interesting. "He's saying 'produce', he's not saying publish: what does he mean by that? "Is it that he wants her to give him these files and then he will say, 'I've looked at them and there's nothing to see there folks, you can take my word for it'.
