The DOI said the road would be one-way from the Quarterbridge to Douglas Fire Station, and would be reopened no later than midnight. Traffic diversions will be in place for anyone heading to lower Douglas, via Groves Road and over Pulrose Bridge.The DOI said it appreciated people's "patience and understanding" during the "essential safety work" in the Isle of Man's capital.

Roads set to close for final day of Southern 100 racing for 2025

Rain showers lead to Southern 100 opening race red flag
The opening race of the Southern 100 Races has been pushed back to Wednesday after rain showers in the south of the Isle of Man led to the action being including previous champions Davey Todd and Michael Dunlop had been due to compete in the seven-lap opening Senior Race at 20:00 BST, in what marks the 70th anniversary of the the earlier practice session taking place, the big bike race was postponed after rider feedback following a warm up lap as the weather closed the Lightweight race set off shortly after 21:00 BST, it was red-flagged by the clerk of the course for safety reasons after a heavy shower on lap two. Isle of Man's Mountain Road to partially close for roadworks
One of the Isle of Man's major routes will be closed for much of Tuesday so that work to improve grip on the road surface can be Bungalow-Creg Ny Baa section of the Mountain Road, which links Douglas with the north of the island, will be shut between 09:30 and 16:30 BST. The Department of Infrastructure (DoI) said the closure was for "captive shot blasting" to be undertaken, a technique used to re-profile aggregate in the road surface so as to create a rougher texture and thereby improve skid DoI said the work, being carried out by specialist contractors in the area of Keppel Gate, would "improve safety for all road users, particularly in wet conditions". 'Improve surface grip' The section had been scheduled for resurfacing earlier this year as part of a broader scheme which included additional drainage, but the DoI said "due to logistical challenges that work was postponed".The shot blasting is designed as an interim measure to improve surface grip ahead of autumn and the work is only expected to take one day, contingency dates of 9, 10, and 11 July are available if conditions on Tuesday are not closure extends to The Bungalow for additional maintenance works. Access to The Bungalow, Snaefell Mountain Railway and both cafes will be possible from Ramsey and Tholt Y Will, while the Creg Ny Baa will be accessible from Hillberry and the Creg Ny Baa Back Road.
