Australian influencers threaten to 'go on strike' and stop posting content as they start a union
Veronica B, known for her skits about Middle Eastern stereotypes, took to the stage at the AIIMS Creator Hub in Sydney on Wednesday night with her demands.
She said she 'doesn't know how the world would survive' without influencers, and moaned she was 'sick and tired' of being treated 'like a joke'.
'I'm sick and tired of us influencers being treated like we're a joke... We deserve more rights and we deserve to be taken seriously,' she said.
Veronica, who has 578,500 followers on TikTok, was cheered on by 100 other influencers as she said it was 'hard work' being an influencer.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
'As content creators and influencers, I don't know how this world would survive. How would people know where to eat if we didn't do restaurant reviews?' she continued.
'How would people know how to do their makeup if we didn't do Get Ready With Me videos? How would people know what to wear if we didn't do outfit hauls.
'I've decided to start an Australian Influencer Union.'
Other fellow content creators have voiced their support for Veronica online.
Dani Russell, who boasts 700,000 TikTok followers, uploaded a video questioning what was harder: being a mother or a creator.
Sydney-based creator Jasmin Mitwali claimed influencers work even harder than doctors and teachers.
'Honestly I do [work harder]. You literally have to stay relevant, come up with content all the time, film, do the work behind-the-scenes,' she said.
It comes after Veronica was slammed in December 2024 for saying it was 'hard work' being an influencer.
She found herself in hot water after an interview at the Sydney TikTok Awards went viral.
The comedian was asked about her line of work as she posed on the red carpet moments after arriving at the awards show in a Rolls Royce.
'I know it looks fun but it's hard work,' Veronica said of her influencing gig.
'You have to think of content, you have to edit it, you have to film it, you have to be constantly relevant and that is not easy.'
Veronica was quickly slammed for being 'out of touch' by viewers of the viral clip.
'I'm just coming home from a 13-hour shift, on my feet for 11 of those 13, but damn this must have been hard! Praying for you,' one woman wrote.
'I think the disconnect may be between a job being "hard" and "taking time". Even if it takes time to edit film etc, it's not necessarily "hard" work,' another wrote.
'Finished my 12-hour night shift and am about to start my next shift four hours later but this must have been so hard for you,' a third commented.

Sydney Sweeney distracts from American Eagle scandal by donning bridal bustier gown for Americana screening
Sydney Sweeney distracted from her American Eagle jeans scandal by showcasing her famous assets at a screening of her film Americana, which was held at Desert 5 Spot in Hollywood on Sunday. The 27-year-old Euphoria stunner flaunted substantial cleavage in an off-white bustier gown with tulle skirt, which was custom made by bridal designer Danielle Frankel. Stylist Molly Dickson also dressed Sydney in an $18 Bahay Kubo 'Bahay Headband' in butter along with square-toed pumps and Effy Jewelry. Hairstylist Glen Oropeza coiffed Sweeney's extension-filled brown waves and make-up artist Melissa Hernandez brought out her natural blue eyes with mascara and brushed-up brows. The newly-registered Republican has yet to publicly address the backlash to her controversial American Eagle campaign, which was accused of pushing Nazi-like eugenics as aspirational. 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color,' Sydney said in the commercial. 'My jeans are blue.' Last Friday, American Eagle CEO Jay Schottenstein issued a statement stressing that the spot 'is and always was about the jeans' and noted that 'great jeans look good on everyone.' The $3.3B denim brand's white supremacy accusations have definitely caused the stock price to dip over the past week. But a source claimed to TMZ last Wednesday that 'independent polling shows the vast majority of folks — around 70 percent — find the commercial appealing.' The Pittsburgh-based fashion retailer pledged to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from 'The Sydney Jean' (featuring a butterfly patch representing domestic violence awareness) to mental health support non-profit, Crisis Text Line. In Americana, Sydney plays an aspiring country singer and South Dakota waitress called Penny Jo Poplin in Lionsgate's modern-day western, which hits US theaters August 15 and UK theaters August 22. That's technically two years after Americana's world premiere at South by Southwest and three years after production wrapped. The long-delayed crime thriller — formerly known as National Anthem — also stars Halsey, Paul Walter Hauser, and Eric Dane. The 30-year-old blue-haired pop star — who plays Mandy Starr — bared her tattooed sleeves in a white corseted turtleneck top, bedazzled blue jeans, and white lacy pumps selected by stylist Lyn Alyson. Halsey (born Ashley Frangipane) and Sweeney were joined on the black carpet by their castmate Simon Rex — who plays Roy Lee Dean — and director Tony Tost. The Spokane-born, LA-raised bombshell will next portray the real-life German settler Margret Wittmer in Ron Howard's $50M-budget survival thriller Eden — hitting US theaters August 22 — alongside Jude Law, Ana de Armas, and Daniel Brühl. Sydney recently reprised her breakout role as Cassie Howard in the eight-episode third season of HBO hit show Euphoria, which is produced by and starring Zendaya as Ruby 'Rue' Bennett. Sam Levinson's drug-fueled drama will welcome newcomers Sharon Stone, Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch and Kadeem Hardison in season three. In January, Sweeney was hard at work executive producing and starring in Paul Feig's big-screen adaptation of Freida McFadden's 2022 novel The Housemaid, which Lionsgate plans to release in time for Christmas. On November 25, the Fifty–Fifty Films co-founder wrapped her role as professional boxer Christy Martin in David Michôd's untitled biopic, which she called 'one of the most emotional, transformative experiences of my life.' Sydney will soon begin producing and starring in her Euphoria castmate Colman Domingo's feature directorial debut Scandalous! about the love affair between Kim Novak and Sammy Davis Jr. (David Jonsson). Sweeney is very much in demand with several projects in the works including the Reddit-based thriller I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl for Warner Bros, Jon M. Chu's sci-fi flick Split Fiction for Amazon MGM Studios. She's producing Michael Bay's video game adaptation OutRun for Universal. Aside from her movie career, the Echo Valley actress — who boasts 26.1 million social media followers — is every bit the influencer with lucrative paid partnerships for brands like Samsung Mobile USA, Dr. Squatch, LANEIGE US, Bai, and HEYDUDE.

Dancing with the Stars winner revealed: Unlikely champion beats fan favourites in shock Grand Finale result
Kyle Shilling has walked away from the Dancing with the Stars Grand Finale with the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy. Home and Away actor Kyle was crowned champion alongside his dance partner Lily Cornish on Monday night. Kyle Shilling and Lily Cornish stunned the room with a deeply moving cultural performance to Mo'ju's Native Tongue, with Kyle playing the didgeridoo live. The powerful piece earned a perfect score, with Helen calling it 'one of the best performances' she's ever seen on any series of the show. 'I'm feeling mixed emotions, as it's come to an end,' Kyle said after his win. 'We built such a strong family here and you can see all the beautiful people behind us,' he continued. 'It's amazing to be able to stand here and hold this trophy, knowing all the hard work we put in has paid off.' Kyle was awarded $20,000 for his chosen charity, The Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The fabulous finale began with a dazzling group performance from the professional dancers and the six grand finalists, set to Marcia Hines' 1970s anthem You. First to take the floor was Felicity Ward and Aric Yegudkin, bursting out with a high-energy mix of quickstep and lindy hop. Helen Richey praised Felicity for always giving it her all, calling her a joy to watch. Michael Usher and Natalie Lowe followed with a routine that showcased all the Latin flair he had picked up throughout the series. Mark Wilson told Michael he should be proud of his efforts week after week. Trent Cotchin and Jess Raffa delivered an emotional contemporary routine that Craig Revel Horwood described as strong and layered, with 'a bit of everything'. Brittany Hockley and Craig Monley brought heartfelt emotion to their dance, which was dedicated to Brittany's husband. The routine ended with Brittany signing 'thank you' in Auslan to Craig, who is deaf in his right ear. Sharna Burgess called it 'stunning' and praised Brittany's transformation into a true dancer. Closing the competition with showbiz flair, Shaun Micallef and Ash-Leigh Hunter performed a musical theatre-style show dance that lit up the ballroom. Sharna said the 'entertainment was through the roof' and watching it was 'spectacular'. As the studio audience awaited the final result, they were treated to an unforgettable live performance from Grammy Award winner and The Voice coach Richard Marx, who sang his classic hit Right Here Waiting and his new single Magic Hour. After the audience vote, the final two couples were revealed: Kyle and Lily, and Shaun and Ash-Leigh. Then, in a spectacular finish, hosts Sonia Kruger and Dr Chris Brown announced Kyle and Lily as the 2025 Dancing With The Stars champions.

Snezana Wood steps out wearing unusual bandage as she runs errands with daughter Eve in Melbourne
Snezana Wood was doing a supermarket run with her daughter Eve Markoski-Wood on Monday. The former Bachelor star was sporting an unusual accessory in the form of a square bandage on her neck. The 44-year-old appeared a tad tired as she popped into the local shops in Elsternwick with her teen in tow. Snezana was casually chic in a white shirt underneath a dark wool trench coat, and had on a pair of blue jeans. She opted for a natural makeup look with some winged eyeliner and a soft pink lipstick. It's unclear why the former reality star, who recently dyed her hair to an auburn tone, was wearing the bandage on her neck. Eve, 19, matched her mum, wearing a black and blue ensemble consisting of a loose jumper and jeans. The pair left a Coles supermarket, each carrying a brown paper bag containing their purchases. The sighting comes after Eve opened up about her biological father in a rare and deeply personal public moment that has since gone viral. The teenager broke down in tears during an interview with Dose of Society, which was shared to the popular Instagram page's 1.7 million followers earlier this month. In the raw and unfiltered video, Eve was asked: 'What is the most painful thing anyone has ever said to you?' Her candid response left viewers stunned: 'Probably that I don't deserve the life I'm living.' Wiping away tears, the Melbourne-based teen explained it was her biological dad, Jason Rapoff, who made the comment. 'I don't know why he said that to me. I grew up just with my mum,' she continued. 'She raised me to be the woman I am today. He wanted to see my mum suffer. And I think when he saw that my mum had built a life for both of us, it was just more of a reaction.' Eve revealed she hasn't seen her biological father in eight years and that he was largely absent from her childhood. 'He was never around when I was little, so it was just my mum and I. I was very close to my mum's side. 'Everyone was there to support me. But I think he just did some things a while back that ended him in places he shouldn't have been in. He just got involved with the wrong people,' she said. The heartfelt clip quickly racked up hundreds of thousands of views and comments, with fans flooding the comments section with support and admiration for Eve's strength. When asked what she would say to her mum today, Eve fought back tears again. 'How proud I am of her,' she replied. 'She's done a lot. She sacrificed a lot. She was working nine to five, and after that going to uni. 'She ended up getting her bachelor's in molecular genetics and biology. Seeing how strong she is, how much strength she's got to keep going through all of this - it makes me proud to be my mother's daughter.' Eve, who has grown up largely in the spotlight after Snezana found love with Sam Wood on The Bachelor in 2015, later commented under the clip, offering further insight into how hard it was to speak so vulnerably on camera. 'Thank you so much for letting me share my story,' she wrote. 'I was nervous about how this would be received, especially being vulnerable on social media, knowing how harsh it can be. But the kindness and messages I've received have meant more than I can explain.' Snezana and Jason's short-lived marriage lasted a year before the pair separated in 2005, when Eve was just two months old.
