Woman Sneaks Clingy Pet Into Every Space She Visits—People Can't Get Enough

A "clingy" dachshund's attachment to her owner which sometimes forces her owner to sneak her into events with a bag has left viewers on TikTok in hysterics.
A June 26 TikTok post, shared by the canine's owner under @ernonpan, shows the puppy peeking out of a handbag as she is carried from place to place. An overlaid text on the video read: "Just me sneaking my clingy dachshund puppy everywhere," while the caption added: "it's either this or a dachshund crying like she is abandoned forever."
The clip has been liked more than 62,000 times to date, and viewers have been quick to flood the comments with reactions ranging from admiration to empathy, with many sharing their own experiences of having needy pets who refuse to be left behind.
Dachshunds, often referred to as sausage dogs, are often described by owners and breeders as intensely loyal and prone to developing separation anxiety.
The American Kennel Club (AKC) notes that the breed is clever, lively and courageous, but can also become clingy with their favorite human. Many dachshunds form a strong attachment to one person in their household, which can make them prone to distress when left alone.
In this case, rather than leave the dog behind to howl in protest, @ernonpan simply carries her around—handbag and all. The result is a humorous, tender moment that has struck a chord with dog lovers.
"Did exactly the same thing with an 8-week-old dachshund when I went to go on a tram (even though I was carrying him anyway) so I put him in my backpack and had his head out of the bag, ticket person came around and couldn't really say anything," one viewer said, while another added: "I take my dog with me in a backpack for dogs and he loves it. Just doctors/hospital are an exception."
"Our children," a third viewer said. "They should be allow everywhere."
As short-legged, long-bodied dogs originally bred for hunting, dachshunds are surprisingly energetic despite their small stature. They crave companionship and often become distressed if left alone for extended periods. As of Wednesday, the TikTok video reached over 992,100 views and 53,500 likes as viewers flooded the comment section with hysterics over the relatable desperate attempts to get a cat to love you. "She's so real for this," wrote one person, while another echoed: "Oh my god, this has me in tears I am so her, she is so me." A third user commented: "'It worked,' she's been plotting this one for a minute." But it turns out she's not the only one willing to go to extremes for a pet's love.
