Jessie J Reveals 'Insane' Blood Loss From Breast Cancer Surgery In Emotional Health Update
The British singer, who revealed her cancer diagnosis earlier this month, left the spotlight to undergo surgery. Now, she is being honest with fans about the downsides of the procedure.
In an Instagram post, Jessie gave fans an update following a successful surgery. She revealed that it came 48 hours after she went under the knife.
"[red exclamation point emoji] Blood warning [red exclamation point emoji] This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours," the singer began in the caption. "I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through."
True to her words, Jessie posted 16 slides that detailed every phase of her surgery. The upload began with an image of the singer, fresh-faced from surgery, lying on the hospital bed. Her right breast was evidently plastered up.
Included in the carousel was a snap of the surgeon's markings on the "Price Tag" singer's chest area as well as a video of her singing before heading to the theater. "I've now been at the hospital for six and a half hours and I'm still waiting to go down to the theatre," she belted.
Luckily, Jessie wasn't alone for the challenging procedure. Her partner, Chanan Colman, was pictured in the hospital with her. In one emotional clip, the couple passionately kissed while holding hands as they fought back tears.
The following slide showed the "Nobody's Perfect" singer crying out for her son, Sky, following the procedure. "I was imagining Sky saying 'I love you, mommy,' and I was saying 'I love you back,'" Jessie told her baby daddy, who was filming.
The two-year-old's reunion with his famous mother was detailed in the tear-jerking Instagram post. A cute photo captured the toddler laughing next to his mother on the hospital bed.
Sky wasted no time causing trouble as he was caught playing with his mother's medical equipment before she cautioned him.
The update not only detailed the emotional parts of the surgery but also the real medical side. In one video, Jessie explained to fans that a drip was inserted into her breast.
She then turned the camera to show a container filled with a small amount of blood, which she jokingly referred to as a "goji berry smoothie." In a later update, the container was already halfway filled with blood as Jessie lamented, "Look at that. That is insane. Oh my God."
The 37-year-old also kept it raw with her toddler, as she explained to him how the container receives bodily fluid from her breast.
Alongside the heartfelt post, Jessie expressed deep gratitude for the medical team that took care of her and her loved ones who visited. She then informed fans of her current health status, writing:
"I am home now, to rest and wait for my results [fingers crossed emoji]. Chanan is in a nurse outfit. No no, he isn't, but funny to imagine."
Concluding the caption, she encouraged those facing similar struggles. "Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this," she wrote.
Fans soon bombarded the post with encouraging words for their beloved singer as she recovers. "Ah Jess wow...these posts. I know Sky will be keeping you smiling and giving you strength... big love... you're an absolute warrior. x," one fan wrote.
The positive health update from Jessie comes days after she performed at the Capital's Summertime Ball. It was her last performance before going away for surgery.
While on stage, the British singer spoke about how special the concert felt to her. "Today, this show, is my last show before I go and beat breast cancer. So, it's so special to me. You have no idea," she emotionally revealed.
The "Nobody's Perfect" artist publicly appreciated her partner, son, and family before expressing hope for her cancer battle.
"We are so lucky. We have so much to live for. So much joy; so many things to do," she declared.

Larsa Pippen just threw a big birthday party in Miami Beach. Who got the invite?
Larsa Pippen double-dipped in style Thursday night. The 'Real Housewives of Miami' star celebrated both the July 4 holiday and her 51st birthday at ORO restaurant in Miami Beach. Pippen, whose actual b-day was on Sunday, brought newish, younger boyfriend Jeff Coby, 31, as her hot date. Among the pictures shared on social media, only two of her current costars, Kiki Barth and Stephanie Shojaee, were on hand. It's unclear why the other ladies didn't attend the bash at the Lincoln Road hot spot, although we do know of one who likely wasn't invited — Lisa Hochstein. As seen in the first episode of season 7, the two divorcees got into a bit of a nasty tiff. Recap: Pippen was bothered that Hochstein and her boyfriend Jody Glidden still followed her ex-bf Marcus Jordan on Instagram. At Glidden's drama-filled birthday party, Hochstein shrugged it off, accusing Pippen of faking the breakup, and things escalated quickly. Though filming of the episode was completed months ago, an insider told the Miami Herald that the two women are still not getting along. So it's not a huge surprise to not see Hochstein there. As for the rest of the women, maybe they don't want to show their allegiance to either. At least one RHOM castmate is speaking out, and picking sides (sort of). 'I completely understand where Pippen is coming from,' Barth said on Page Six's 'Virtual Reali-tea' show late last month. The Haitian model went on to say she thinks it's inappropriate to follow friends' exes on social media when the relationship ended badly (which it did). Barth added that Glidden, as a man, 'can do whatever he wants to do.' As for Hochstein, she told People magazine she believes Pippen behaved insensitively while she was back home in Canada at her father's wake last fall. Roger MacCallum died in October. 'It was so bad,' the mother of two said. 'Larsa was fighting with me and sending text messages back and forth [regarding Marcus]. I was like, 'What are you doing?' Like, 'Please stop.'' Sigh, can't we all just get along? Paging peacekeeper Andy Cohen...

Fans React to Lauryn Hill Performing in Nearly Empty Stadium
Hip-hop icon Lauryn Hill's fans have reacted to the singer's performance in front of a nearly empty stadium at the recently conducted 2025 Essence Festival of Culture. Not only did the star arrive at the stage at a much later time than what was scheduled, but she ended up concluding her act at around 3.37 AM. On Friday, July 4, Lauryn Hill took to the stage in Louisiana as part of a star-studded lineup at the 2025 Essence Festival of Culture. The roster also included the likes of GloRilla, the Isley Brothers, Babyface, and Maxwell, with Coco Jones coming in as an unannounced performer. However, Hill sang in front of a nearly empty stadium after unprecedented delays occurred during the performances of those who preceded her. For instance, GloRilla ended her act at a time when the Isley Brothers had to finish their performance. Consequently, Maxwell took to the stage a few minutes before 1 a.m., further delaying Hill's arrival (via The Hollywood Reporter). As such, Hill, who is infamous for being late on her shows, has many fans debating on the internet following her performance at the nearly empty stadium in New Orleans. Most of the reactions seem to take Hill's side, instead putting the blame on the organizers. One X (formerly Twitter) user noted, 'The entire festival was pushed back. This was literally not her fault.' Another fan defended Hill, saying, 'I know we're used to Lauryn Hill not being on time, but the whole day ran late…This was on organizers and scheduling, not Ms. Lauryn Hill.' A third fan highlighted the delays in the concert before noting, 'If I'm Lauryn Hill, I'm probably cussing out Essence cause this is just unacceptable.' Essence Festival has addressed concerns regarding Hill's show in an Instagram post, stating that the Ex-Factor singer performing in front of a nearly empty crowd wasn't her fault, as 'she arrived on schedule.' Toy manufacturer Mattel launches new Barbie doll who has type 1 diabetes
Mattel has launched the first Barbie doll with type 1 diabetes as part of a drive to increase representation. The toy manufacturer has previously launched dolls to represent people who have a variety of medical conditions and aids to help them. Kate Moss' daughter Lila has launched this particular doll with the company. The 22-year-old, who is also a model and has diabetes, was presented with a one-off Barbie doll of herself during the launch, which comes after the release of deaf, blind and Down's Syndrome versions of the toy. The doll was launched by Kate Moss' daughter Lila who has diabetes (Image: Mattel/PA Wire) Moss, whose father is British publisher Jefferson Hack, said: 'I think to have a Barbie doll that looks like me with type 1 diabetes is completely surreal, and it makes me very proud to be able to represent this community. 'I get so many messages every day about how I've helped someone be less insecure or helped them be more proud of their diabetes patches, and so to be able to represent the community in this way is very exciting and special. 'The accessories the Barbie has is a blood glucose monitor and an insulin pump, and they're very important because they keep me alive, and they make living life with type 1 diabetes much smoother and more practical. 'They are less hidden, so it makes people feel a bit more insecure, but I think it's really important to embrace this technology, especially because it makes living with diabetes so much easier and more practical. 'I think it's so important to embrace these patches and having them, and not hiding them or being insecure about them – I think it's really cool to have them. 'I think my younger self would be really excited about how cool my Barbie's outfit is, how nice her dress is, and she's got a little gold bangle on and she's really chic, but also just proud to represent a really important cause and something so special and close to my heart.' The doll with diabetes will be released on Wednesday and priced at £13.99. She wears a blue polka dot top and matching skirt, as the colour is used for global symbols that represent diabetes awareness. Barbie partnered with Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), a type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organisation, for the doll, with Mattel UK donating £20,000 to the charity on behalf of Moss. The NHS says type 1 diabetes stops the body from making a hormone called insulin, causing the level of glucose in blood to get too high. It says symptoms include feeling tired, thirsty, going to the toilet more regularly and fast weight loss.
