Bus carrying preschoolers crashes into tree, 4 injured
The teacher, who suffered a head injury requiring stitches, and the pupils received outpatient treatment at Serdang Hospital.
Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the department was alerted to the incident by UPM auxiliary police at 12.18pm.
"The accident involved a bus carrying five Pasti teachers and 30 pupils, who were travelling from a chocolate factory in Seri Kembangan to an animal park in Serdang.
They are from a Pasti preschool in Ampang.
"Initial investigations revealed that the 44-year-old bus driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered to the left side of the road and crashed into a tree.
"Three pupils and a teacher were taken to Serdang Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement today.
Farid said the case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving, which carries a penalty of up to five years' jail and a fine between RM5,000 and RM15,000.
A one-minute dashcam video, believed to have been recorded by a parent whose child was on the bus, has since gone viral on social media.
