Pat Tillman's brother allegedly started a fire at NoCal post office to send a message

A newly unsealed court document alleges that Richard Tillman admitted to police officers that he drove a vehicle into a Northern California post office and set the building on fire, 'trying to make a statement to the United States Government.'
It's unclear what the statement was intended to be. According to the document, Tillman also told San Jose Police officers at the scene that he was responsible for spray-painting 'Viva La Me' on the building as it was burning but was unable to finish writing because of the heat.
The youngest brother of late NFL star and U.S. Army Ranger Pat Tillman has been charged with the federal crime of malicious destruction of government property by fire in connection with the incident at Almaden Valley Station Post Office on July 20 at around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The 44-year-old San Jose resident was arrested at the scene. The criminal complaint against Tillman was filed July 23 but remained sealed until Wednesday when Tillman made his initial appearance in federal district court in San Jose. KRON-TV in San Francisco reports that Tillman did not enter a plea.
Tillman is in federal custody and has a status conference before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nathanael Cousins scheduled for Aug. 6, the U.S. Attorney's office said in a press release.
The criminal complaint includes a statement of probable cause by U.S. Postal Inspector Shannon Roark. According to the statement, Tillman told officers on the scene that he had placed 'instalogs' throughout his vehicle and doused them with lighter fluid. He then backed the vehicle into the post office, exited the vehicle and used a match to set the car ablaze.
The building was 'partially destroyed by the fire,' the U.S. Attorney's office said.
Roark also stated that Tillman told officers at the scene that he had livestreamed the incident on YouTube. Tillman's channel has since been removed from the site.
In the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, Pat Tillman famously walked away from a three-year, $3.6-million contract offer from the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the Army, along with his younger brother, Kevin.
On April 22, 2004, Pat Tillman was killed by friendly fire in the province of Khost, Afghanistan. He was 27.
The day after the post office fire, Kevin Tillman released a statement.
'Our family is aware that my brother Richard has been arrested. First and foremost, we are relieved that no one was physically harmed,' Kevin Tillman stated. ' ... To be clear, it's no secret that Richard has been battling severe mental health issues for many years. He has been livestreaming, what I'll call, his altered self on social media for anyone to witness.
'Unfortunately, securing the proper care and support for him has proven incredibly difficult — or rather, impossible. As a result, none of this is as shocking as it should be.'

Enough Is Enough: San Diego Police Seize, Destroy Street Takeover Cars

Read the full story on The Auto Wire The gloves have come off as San Diego Police Department seizes and destroys cars used by street takeover participants. Normally, California law enforcement and the justice system in the state go famously soft on the street takeover crowd, just like looters during riots. But after decades of that not working, it seems SDPD is going old news station NBC 7 calls it a 'radical maneuver' even though this very thing is done all over the country. But it's being done to snap scofflaws in Southern California into realizing they need to stop. Will the move work? That's up for debate. One of two vehicles recently destroyed by SDPD on camera was a Toyota Chaser, a rare rear-wheel-drive JDM import. That has some enthusiasts outraged because such a vehicle is a sacred treasure to them. But others believe the practice of destroying cars used in the commission of crimes is counterproductive. After all, the vehicle didn't do anything wrong. They can be auctioned off to the public and some revenue generated for law enforcement. There's even the option of police departments repurposing seized cars for use by cops. Proponents of this practice think the public displays of destruction call attention to the seriousness of the crimes committed. In this case, it's sparking more dialog about what to do to combat the street takeover epidemic in California. In the past, the problem has been blown off as not a big deal, that kids are just having fun and not really doing any harm. The reality is the takeovers damage public and private property, innocent bystanders are sometimes hurt, participants are hurt or killed, and other illegal activities swirl around the gatherings. Something has to change in California as street takeovers rage out of control in the state. But is this the way to get it all under control? Marcus Morris tells his side of story after arrest, 'This is not fraud activity'

Last week, Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested in Florida. He made a court appearance concerning a case where prosecutors alleged he owed $265,000 to two Las Vegas casinos after bouncing checks to pay off those markers. While the official charges are for fraud, Morris has steadfastly denied that there was any malice or fraud involved, that this was more of a misunderstanding. Morris reiterated that talking with his twin brother Markieff Morris on their YouTube channel. 'Don't ever put my name with nothing but fraud. This is not fraud activity. I have never wrote a check to no casinos in exchange for money that I can put in my pocket. I wrote exchange for credit thinking that you know the source of the income and you know what I've done in the past years to pay it back plus put the money back that I chose to take from y'all to gamble with. So you know I want to just clear that up and then you could take it how you want.' Morris also talked about spending a few days in a Broward County jail. 'You could think about think about me this way. But I know what my loved ones and the people that surround us and the people we surround ourselves with really feel about us. But listen, jail, don't f*** with it. Don't f*** with it. That's why we had to do this s*** outside cuz I couldn't sit in no small ass room. I came home, I think I slept outside.' This entire situation and the criminal case will go away if the bill is paid, which appears to be the case with Morris and these charges.
