Scots Tesco becomes home to pet cat who loves sleeping on shelves
A pet cat has been bringing joy to Scots shoppers at a Tesco supermarket.
The friendly feline, understood to be named Ra, has been spotted posing for the camera and sleeping in boxes at a local Tesco in Rutherglen, Glasgow. In recent months, Ra has captured the attention of customers, with dozens posting their snaps of him in his favourite spots.
One local, Stewart Walker, said Ra - who is also known as the Mayor of Burnside - is a "friendly" cat who makes everyone smile.
Speaking to our sister title, Glasgow Live, he said: "Ra is such a friendly wee thing. He is no bother and just finds his space in the foyer of Tesco Burnside.
"I've driven in early morning when he's been at the wee crossing in the car park and waits until you stop, then he greets you.
"If it's warm and sunny he will lie up near the wall next to the ATM sunbathing.
"He actually makes you smile. Bumping into the Mayor AKA RA he lifts what could have been a bad day and makes you smile.
"Everybody stops to talk to him, and the kids love to see him about. They pet him - he's just so friendly with everyone.
"Hopefully, he gets his own Facebook page and becomes an extra member of the Tesco staff. He could be the community champion cat."

Another local, Laura, also shared a snap of Ra on social media.
She said: "He's such a friendly wee cat. Everyone talks to him.
"I see him chill out in the trolleys a few times as well. The trolleys that have the wee seats for kids and he lies in them.
"I've even seen him walking across the zebra crossing, and the driver stopped!
"He loves the attention. I see him every time I'm there - that's about five times a week."

"His Red Dwarf colleagues were able to contact him at 12.30, where he confirmed he was ill and unable to attend. These are the facts. "The Group shot will go ahead with Danny, Robert and Hattie, and ticket holders will receive an automatic £60 refund to allow for the change of lineup. If anybody does not want the group shot, any unused tickets will automatically be refunded after the show." Not long after the post was shared, Craig took to his X/ Twitter to apologise to fans, writing: "I'd just like to say sorry to showmasters and the fans at comicon. I made it to the hotel but woke up at 3 this morning with stomach pains. "I then proceeded to be violently ill for hours. Not a pretty sight. I tried to see if it would wear off but at 10 am I called it off and came back to Manchester. "I'm feeling slightly better now, and I'm drinking lots of water and electrolytes. Again sorry for the cancellation and I look forward to next time." Fans rushed to the comment section to share their support, with one fan posting: "Hope you feel better. "You don't have anything to apologise for trust me someone that just got food poisoning two days ago I know exactly what you mean by coming down with something very quickly." Another concerned fans posted: "Take care of yourself. I've been watching you as Dave Lister since I was a child, Red Dwarf was and is still my favorite show. "Lister inspired my love for curry and good tunes. It may be sad, but you were the closest thing I had to a father figure. Love from America, my guy." One commented: "As long as you're on the mend that's the main thing." Red Dwarf is a sci-fi comedy that aired between 1988 and 1999, which follows technician Dave Lister, who awakens after being suspended animation for three million years to find that he is the last living human and that he's alone on the mining spacecraft.

Coronation Street confirms unexpected flashback twist as the past is revisited
There's a huge mystery in upcoming Coronation Street episodes. Why did Gary Windass (Mikey North) end up in a coma in hospital after apparently vanishing into thin air? And why does the woman who's with him insist his name is Chesney? And does Gary's current predicament have anything to do with the night of Aadi (Adam Hussain)'s party, when Nina (Mollie Gallagher) and Summer (Harriet Bibby) became convinced they'd seen a dead body? Maria (Samia Longchambon) has been going frantic with worry, not having heard from Gary since he headed off wanting to put some space between them after a series of arguments. The arguments were mainly about Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty). Maria was furious that Gary seemed to be spending so much time with the woman whose husband killed Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). She didn't trust Lou's motives and thought she was exploiting Gary's kindness. And the more Maria objected to Gary seeing Lou, the more he pushed back. Since he left Maria has hardly heard from him, and when he doesn't get in touch on Liam (Charlie Wrenshall)'s birthday she's convinced something bad has happened to him. She reports him as a missing person. Nina overhears Maria saying that there haven't been any transactions on Gary's bank account since June 23 – which was the night of the party. She tells Summer what she's learned and worries that it was Gary they saw that night when they were high on drugs. Summer reminds her that there were no reports of an assault and when they went back to look there was no trace of Gary or anyone else. Then we see Gary, unconscious in hospital. A nurse assures his visitor that 'Chesney' is making progress.
