Transformers One gets disappointing update from director Josh Cooley

Perth Now18-06-2025

Transformers One director Josh Cooley has said a sequel isn't happening.
The 46-year-old filmmaker had helmed the 2024 flick for Paramount Animation, though Cooley has now said the studio is "not interested" in making a follow-up to Transformers One.
Speaking on a panel at the Transformers convention BotCon, the director said: 'I wish I had something to announce, but I do not. What I've been told is that Paramount Animation is not interested in making a sequel.
'That's what I was told. I wish we could. I have ideas, too. So it would have been cool. We'll see what happens. You never know.'
Transformers One - which stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Brian Tyree Henry and Jon Hamm - explores the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron as allies on Cybertron before a rift turned them into enemies.
As war brews, their choices shape the fate of their world - and the future of all Transformers.
When Transformers One released in September, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura teased the film could be the start of a trilogy.
When Collider asked di Bonaventura and Cooley if a trilogy was possible, the producer said: 'I don't think anything's changed for us.
'The truth of the matter is you never get to the second movie unless everybody shows up at the box office. We both said to ourselves, 'This is way too hard to make one good movie to start thinking a lot about the second movie.''
While the picture was received well by critics, Transformers One had a disappointing performance at the box office.
On a production budget of roughly $75 million, Transformers One pulled in $129.4 million, making it one of the lowest-grossing movies in the franchise.
Di Bonaventura – who has been attached to the Transformers series since 1986's The Transformers: The Movie – teased Transformers One had several plot threads about Optimus Prime (Hemsworth) and Megatron (Henry) that could easily be picked up in a future film.
He said: 'Along the way, there were ideas that we were like, 'Well, that can't fit in here. Let's hold onto that. Let's not forget that idea.' Although I'm sure we've forgotten some of them.'
Cooley agreed and added they were definitely playing with the idea of making sequels to Transformers One, but emphasised that he and di Bonaventura were going to wait to 'see what happens' with the movie.
He said: 'I can't help but ... Yes, we were thinking of this one story for this moment, for this movie, but it's about towards the last year of a film where I can't help but go like, 'Well, how would this [to] naturally progress?'
'So we've got some ideas, we talked about a few things, and we'll see what happens.'

Machine Gun Kelly brings 'music and laughs' to baby daughter

Machine Gun Kelly's parenting "specialty" is bringing "music and laughs". The 35-year-old musician - whose former partner Megan Fox gave birth to their daughter Saga Blade in March - has been relishing getting the chance to catch up on some sleep while away performing and while he noted the Transformers actress has a "rougher" time than he does with a newborn in the house, he is doing his best to shower his little girl with love. He told People magazine: "[I recently] wrote her a lullaby on a ukulele. "Megan is in the no sleep club, for sure. I've been travelling a little bit, just doing some performances. So on those nights, I for sure, just hit the snooze button a million times and I'm catching up on all this. "Women are in the rougher trenches of the newborn process, but my specialty is music and laughs and whatever I can do to make her smile and kind of get introduced to the world with love." MGK also has 15-year-old Casie from his relationship with Emma Cannon, and the teenager is finding being a big sister a lot of "fun". She said: "It's really just so cute. I love her so much. It's so cute. It's like, different, you know?" The Cliche singer is Casie's biggest "cheerleader". She said: "[He] definitely gives a lot of advice. He's more like a hype man, though." Her dad agreed: "Yeah, I'm a cheerleader." Meanwhile, MGK - whose real name is Colson Baker - hopes his upcoming album Los Americana will allow him to be a "vessel for a really happy project in a very dark time." He said: "So I think it'll naturally find its way to people's ears. Good music goes a long way. "And I still believe in albums and people being like, 'Yo, I just heard a great album.' Then you have to hear it. So word of mouth is kind of what I'm going for." The Emo Girl hitmaker finally revealed his baby girl's name earlier this week. He shared a video on Instagram, in which he played a ukulele for the tot, whose face couldn't be seen as she rocked back and forth, cooing in the background. He asked the baby before he started to play: "You ready?" He captioned the post with his daughter's full name, writing: "Saga Blade Fox-Baker." Fans were previously left confused as to the baby's moniker. When he announced Megan had given birth, MGK wrote on Instagram: "she's finally here!! our little celestial seed [tears and heart emojis] 3/27/25 (sic)" Much to his amusement, many fans then assumed the baby had been named Celestial Seed. A few days after her baby, he shared a screenshot of a TikTok video about the birth announcement and wrote on his Instagram Story: 'Wait guys…her name isn't 'Celestial Seed' [cry laughing emoji]. 'Her mom is gonna tell you the name when we're ready." Megan - who also has sons Noah, 12, Bodhi, 11, and Journey, eight, with her ex-husband Brian Austin Green - and MGK split in November, shortly after it was announced that the 39-year-old actress was pregnant.

Josh Duhamel reveals the 'therapy' he goes through so he can 'stay young' for his wife

Josh Duhamel has started testosterone replacement therapy so he can "stay young" for his wife. The 52-year-old actor - who has been married to former Miss World Audra Mari, 31, since 2022 and has 17-month-old son Shepherd with her - decided that the best way to achieve an "overall wellness" in his life was to boost his natural hormones. He told Men's Health Lab: "It's important for her that I stay as young and virile for as long as I can. 'I think that there is an overall wellness, you know, just for just for those purposes alone… "Just having that energy, that that that desire to go out and achieve, be a better dad, be a better brother, be a better friend, be a better business owner, you don't taper off like you would normally—and I think that that's also one of the benefits of it, mentally and physically. "I'd been hearing about this for a while—about testosterone replacement therapy—and it was one of those things that I didn't want to talk about, neither did anybody I was asking about it. "And I think that it was just, I took an inventory, a personal inventory, of how I was feeling, and I knew that I wasn't quite where I was at five, 10, years before. That's when I got myself tested, and realized my levels were low, and that's when I decided to start doing it." The Transformers star - who was previously married to Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and has 11-year-old son Axl with her - has got his "mojo back" with his new tratement, and has found that it is all about "being around for [his] kids" and still being able to do things with them as he get older. He said: "It's just one of those things that just changed my world. I literally got my mojo back. And now it's become, not so much about the aesthetics of it, as much as it is being around for my kids and being able to roll around the dirt with them like I could have when I was younger."
