A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS Postponed to 2026 Release
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms The Game of Thrones prequel series was originally slated to debut in late 2025.
Game of Thrones A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon Season 3 could potentially air in the same year. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
Say it ain't so — we'll have to wait longer to watch the onscreen adventures of Dunk and Egg. Well, perhaps not that much longer. Warner Bros. Discovery's Upfront presentation unveiled a first look at the Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms , starring Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan 'Dunk' the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg.
Said first look concluded with a title card with the year '2026' emblazoned on it. Initially, WBD planned to release the six-episode first season in late 2025. HBO content chairman and CEO Casey Bloys told Upfront attendees that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere in the winter of 2026. So, if you think about it, this postponement might only amount to a few months.
RELATED: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms : Meet the Characters About the Series
Here's a synopsis for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms per WBD:
'A century before the events of Game of Thrones , two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros … a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.' Cast and Crew
In addition to Claffey and Ansell, the series stars Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion 'Brightflame' Targaryen, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel 'The Laughing Storm' Baratheon, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor 'Breakspear' Targaryen, Henry Ashton as Prince Daeron 'The Drunken' Targaryen, Edward Ashley as Ser Steffon Fossoway, Shaun Thomas as Ser Raymun 'The Reluctant' Fossoway and Youssef Kerkour as Steely Pate.
RELATED: New TV Shows This Week (May 11 – 17)
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is adapted from George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas. Martin, Ira Parker and Martin Parker have penned the series, with direction from Sarah Adina Smith and Owen Harris. Ira Parker and Martin executive produce alongside House of the Dragon 's Ryan Condal.
As of writing, we don't have a premiere date or window for House of the Dragon Season 3, although production is underway. It was purported to wrap in time for a 2026 release, but who knows if that will change now that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been delayed. Our guess is the season is still on track to release next year.

Country Icon, 70, Making History With Grand Ole Opry Induction originally appeared on Parade. The Grand Ole Opry announced its newest member on Thursday, July 10 — country icon Steve Earle. He is making history as the very first artist to be inducted during the Grand Ole Opry's year-long 100th anniversary celebration. The induction is happening live on Wednesday, September 17, and will feature another country icon to host the induction ceremony — Opry member Emmylou Harris. "Be there live on September 17 as Emmylou Harris officially inducts the legendary singer-songwriter Steve Earle into the Grand Ole Opry. He's made history with iconic songs like 'Copperhead Road' and collaborations with legends such as Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson — and he's making history once again as the very first artist inducted during our milestone 100th year," reads the Grand Ole Opry press release. The night will be filled with a star-studded lineup and "unforgettable performances" from Harry, Earle, and '90s country star Deana Carter, most famous for her tune "Strawberry Wine." Other performers will be announced at a later first burst on the country music scene in 1986 with his debut studio album Guitar Town, which was certified Gold in the U.S. and Platinum in Canada. All together, Earle has released 22 studio albums and seven live albums throughout his illustrious career. He is best known for such hits as "Guitar Town," "Goodbye's All We've Got Left," "Nowhere Road," "Sweet Little '66," "Copperhead Road," "Six Days on the Road," "The Other Kind," "Transcendental Blues," and "The Revolution Starts Now." The country star also famously played himself on two episodes of 30 Rock and one episode of Nashville. Kim Cattrall Shares Cryptic Message as And Just Like That Ends
Originally appeared on E! Online And just like that, has spoken. Hours after Sex and the City creator Michael Patrick King announced that And Just Like That—the sequel series to the beloved HBO show—would be ending after its current third season, the actress shared a cryptic note on Instagram Aug. 1. Posting a picture of a sunset overlooking a body of water, Kim wrote alongside emojis of a heart and a pair of lips, "It's the end of a very long week." But she isn't the only Sex and the City alum to speak out amid news of And Just Like That's final bow. Cattrall's former castmate Sarah Jessica Parker—who stars in the revival alongside Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis—reflected on her iconic character's legacy. "Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years,' SJP wrote on Instagram. "I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion." More from E! Online Tom Selleck, 80, Looks Unrecognizable During Rare Outing Without Signature Mustache Why Bryan Kohberger Left Roommate Dylan Mortensen Alive, According to Idaho Prosecutor Former NBA Player Danilo Gallinari's Pregnant Wife Attacked by Shark She continued, "MPK and I together recognized, as we have in the past, this chapter complete." Cynthia also marveled at the franchise's decades-long journey, calling it "such a delight from start to finish." "I can't believe our wild beautiful And Just Like That ride is almost over," she wrote on her own Instagram page. "I will miss working with these people everyday SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other's lives." Although Kristin felt "profoundly sad" about the show ending, she expressed gratitude to the cast and crew who worked "so hard on our show with deep love." "Thank you to you all," she added in her own post. "You hold me up and i do not take it for granted!!!" And Just Like That premiered in 2021, more than 17 years after Sex and the City went off the air. Out of the series' four main leads, Kim was the only star who opted not to return. "It's a great wisdom to know when enough is enough," she told Variety in a new 2022 interview. "I also didn't want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear." And while Kim did reprise her role as Samantha Jones for a cameo in the season two finale, it was a one-off thing. As she told Today in 2023, "This is as far as I'm gonna go."
