‘Ted Lasso' Star Hannah Waddingham Says Season 4 Is Like a ‘Beloved Dog That Was Buried, and Now We've Exhumed It'

'It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we've exhumed it, and I am here for it,' Waddingham told me Sunday at the 'Smurfs' premiere in Los Angeles. 'I was hankering and hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She's my girl. She's in my bloodstream, so I'm thrilled that it's been exhumed.'
Waddingham, who won an Emmy for her work on the show. added with a big smile, 'I can't wait to get involved with that and put my penneth in and go shopping for her looks.'
Jason Sudeikis, who will return as soccer coach Lasso, said in a statement at the time of the renewal announcement, 'As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to 'look before we leap, In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be.'
Also returning are Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt.
Goldstein said during an appearance on Variety's Awards Circuit in June, 'Obviously, I can't tell you a single thing about it, of course, but we're working on it, and it's good. It's exciting to have everyone back together.'

'Ted Lasso' was nominated for 61 Emmy Awards during its run, winning 13. That includes back-to-back wins in the best comedy series category, as well as consecutive wins for Sudeikis and Goldstein.
Waddingham's latest project after 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' is 'Smurfs,' in which she voices an evil wizard. 'I was really happy to be part of this because my daughter's just about to turn 11, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm a pretty cool mom right now,' she said.
She adopted a gravelly voice for her character: 'It absolutely mangled my voice senseless. It was my own fault for offering it up.'
'Smurfs,' directed by Chris Miller, is in theaters Friday.

Anna Camp, who starred in dual roles as Raegan and Maddie Lockwood in the final season of Netflix's "You," took to Instagram on July 15, to share her disappointment that she didn't receive an Emmy nomination for the hit series. The show, which stars Penn Badgley as serial killer Joe Goldberg, was snubbed by Emmy voters this year, and received no nominations in major categories throughout its run. "Me reading about the nominations this morning knowing I gave one of the best performances of my life while also trying to be happy for everyone and while also remembering I vowed to stop drinking during the week 🫠," Camp wrote. In the comments of the post, some of the actress' followers applauded her performance and shared their disappointment that the show wasn't recognized. John Malkovich will not be appearing in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in theaters this month. Directed by Matt Shakman, the film stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch. It was announced in May 2024 that Malkovich had joined the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and, while it was never officially revealed who he was playing, he was seen in one of the trailers for a movie. MCU fans, however, began to wonder if his character had been cut from the movie after The Walt Disney Company's official website page removed his name from the cast list. 'When we were building a '60s retro-future world, introducing all of these villains, introducing these four main characters as a group, as well as individually, introducing the idea of a child — there was a lot of stuff to balance in this movie and some things had to go ultimately in terms of shaping the film for its final version. '…It was heartbreaking not to include him in the final version of the movie because he's one of my very favorite humans and one of my biggest inspirations. As a person who walks the line between theater and film and television, there's no one who is more inspiring than the founder of Steppenwolf Theater Company.
