George and Amal Clooney attend King's Trust Awards

King Charles III warmly welcomed George and Amal Clooney to Buckingham Palace.
The couple attended a special reception celebrating the 2025 King's Trust Awards. This ceremony honours young people who have overcome significant challenges to make a positive impact in their communities.
The event marked the 10th anniversary of King's Trust International. This is an extension of the charity King Charles founded in 1976 to support disadvantaged youth.
The King was seen smiling and engaging in lively conversation with the Clooneys, who are longstanding supporters of the charity, according to ABC.
Amal Clooney impressed in a black off-the-shoulder cocktail dress, while George Clooney wore a sleek grey suit without a tie.
The reception included a gathering of award winners and celebrity supporters such as Dame Joanna Lumley, Joseph Fiennes, and Declan Donnelly.
Alice from Kenya teaches traditional beading crafts to over 100 young women and received the Amal Clooney Woman's Empowerment Award.
This helped them earn a living. Alice described meeting the Clooneys as 'heaven' and praised them as 'really intelligent people'.
King Charles, who has been described as the 'patron saint of second chances,' cut a cake to celebrate the charity's milestone.
He congratulated the winners on their remarkable achievements. The King's Trust Awards ceremony will take place at the Royal Festival Hall on Thursday, 26 June. This event is not the Clooneys' first encounter with the British royals.
Guests previously attended a 2019 dinner at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Charles when he was Prince of Wales, to support the same charity.
They were also guests at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 2018 wedding at Windsor Castle. They have maintained close ties with the couple, including vacations and social events.
The King's Trust Awards highlight the power of youth empowerment and community upliftment, themes that resonate strongly across the continent.
Amal Clooney's human rights work and the Clooneys' support of charitable causes underline the global importance of social justice and opportunity.
King Charles said of the winners, 'Your courage and commitment inspire us all.' Amal Clooney added, 'Supporting young people to build confidence and skills is vital for creating lasting change.'
George Clooney remarked, 'It's a privilege to stand alongside these remarkable young leaders and His Majesty in celebrating their achievements.'
The King's Trust continues to be a beacon of hope for young people worldwide, offering pathways to education, enterprise, and community leadership.
The royal reception at Buckingham Palace showcased this commitment with star power and heartfelt celebration.

Rihanna radiates at Brussels premiere of 'The Smurfs Movie'

Rihanna, 37, proudly displayed her growing baby bump in a stunning light turquoise mesh gown as she attended the global premiere of The Smurfs Movie in Brussels. The pregnant singer and actress, who is expecting her third child, looked radiant and joyful on the red carpet. The star arrived in Paris on Friday to support her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, 36, at the Dior show during Paris Fashion Week. The couple then made their way to Belgium for the premiere, celebrating Rihanna's much-anticipated role as Smurfette in the new animated film. Rihanna, a mother of two, chose a floor-length mesh gown that accentuated her baby bump beautifully. She was all smiles as she posed alongside a Smurfette character. A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, linked arms with Rihanna as they entered the venue together. The couple has been in a relationship since late 2019 and is eagerly awaiting the arrival of their third child. The premiere also featured other celebrities, including British comedian James Corden, 46, who stars alongside Rihanna in the film. Though details about his character remain under wraps, Corden appeared in high spirits, dressed smartly in a shirt and jeans. Rihanna's public appearances come shortly after the tragic revelation of her father, Ronald Fenty's, cause of death. He passed away on 30 May at the age of 70 from a combination of acute respiratory failure, pancreatic cancer, and aspiration pneumonia. Additional complications included severe kidney damage. An insider shared with DailyM ail, 'Robyn has had a very difficult relationship with her father over the years, but his death has hit her like a ton of bricks. Being pregnant and dealing with A$AP's legal woes have been an emotional roller coaster for her over the last few months. On top of that, her dad was getting sick, and it became too much.' The source added, 'As much as you realise something like this is happening, it is still completely heartbreaking. That is where she is right now.' Rihanna's voice as Smurfette was first heard last year, with footage unveiled at the Annecy Animation Festival. The film is directed by Chris Miller and produced by Paramount and Nickelodeon Animation, with Ramsey Naito as president. As a global icon of music, fashion, and now animation, she continues to inspire. Her ability to balance personal trials with professional achievements is a powerful message for women everywhere. Despite facing personal loss and the pressures of pregnancy, Rihanna shines brightly. Her appearance at the Smurfs premiere shows her strength and dedication to her craft. Irish rappers Kneecap perform controversial Glastonbury set

Irish rap trio Kneecap staged a defiant performance at Britain's Glastonbury Festival Saturday, days after Prime Minister Keir Starmer said they should not be performing there. The group has made headlines in recent months with their pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel stance, and one of their members has been charged with a "terror" offence for allegedly supporting Hezbollah. "Glastonbury, I'm a free man", said Liam O'Hanna, who appeared in court earlier this month accused of having displayed a Hezbollah flag while saying "Up Hamas, Up Hezbollah" at a London concert last year. The Iran-backed Lebanese force Hezbollah and the Palestinian militant group Hamas are banned in the UK, and it is an offence to express support for them. AFP | Oli SCARFF O'Hanna, known by his stage name Mo Chara, has denied the charge. "This situation can be quite stressful but it's minimal compared to what the Palestinian people are (facing)," O'Hanna, wearing his trademark keffiyah and black sunglasses told thousands of cheering supporters, many waving Palestinian flags. O'Hanna also gave "a shout out" to Palestine Action Group, which interior minister Yvette Cooper announced last week would become a banned group under the Terrorism Act of 2000. - 'Playing characters' - Fellow band member DJ Provai wore a t-shirt dedicated to the campaign group, whose prohibition comes after its activists broke into a British Royal Air Force base and vandalised two planes. Before Kneecap took to the stage, rap punk duo Bob Vylan led the crowd in chants of "Death, death to the IDF", a reference to the Israeli Defence Forces. Later, Kneecap led the crowd chanting abuse directed at Starmer. Formed in 2017, Kneecap is no stranger to controversy. To their fans they are daring provocateurs who stand up to the establishment; to their detractors they are dangerous extremists. Their Irish and English lyrics are filled with references to drugs, they repeatedly clashed with the UK's previous Conservative government and have vocally opposed British rule in Northern Ireland. The group apologised this year after a 2023 video emerged appearing to show one singer calling for the death of British Conservative MPs. Two MPs have been murdered in Britain in the past nine years and many of them worry about their safety. But Kneecap deny the terrorism charge and say the video featuring the Hezbollah flag has been taken out of context. Asked whether he regretted waving it, and other comments caught on camera, Chara told the Guardian in an interview published Friday: "Why should I regret it? It was a joke -- we're playing characters." - Glastonbury rejects criticism - Since O'Hanna was charged, the group has been pulled from a slew of summer gigs, including a Scottish festival appearance and various performances in Germany. But Glastonbury organisers defied Starmer who had said it was not "appropriate" for Kneecap to perform at Glastonbury, one of the country's biggest and most famous music festivals. AFP | Oli SCARFF "People that don't like the politics of the event can go somewhere else," Michael Eavis, co-founder of the festival said in AN article published in a free newspaper for festival-goers. Public broadcaster the BBC faced pressure not to air the concert. In statement Saturday, a spokesperson for the broadcaster said the performance would not be shown live but would likely be available on-demand afterwards.

Raducanu 'just friends' with future doubles partner Alcaraz

British number one Emma Raducanu refused to be drawn on rumours of a relationship with French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz as the duo gear up for a doubles partnership at the US Open. Raducanu and Alcaraz practiced together at Wimbledon on Friday as part of a sponsors commitment and will play alongside each other at Flushing Meadows in September in the mixed doubles. Five-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz revealed last week he had made the request to play with Raducanu, who shot to fame when she won the US Open in 2021. "We're just good friends," said a smiling Raducanu when asked about speculation that the two are dating. "It was fun yesterday. We were both on court with Evian. We were just getting some volley practicing ahead of New York. "I'm really happy obviously to be playing with him. Yeah, we had a good time yesterday." In contrast to Alcaraz's meteoric rise since making his major breakthrough at the US Open three years ago, Raducanu has struggled to shine under the spotlight since becoming a household name. The 22-year-old has never progressed beyond the fourth round of the Grand Slam since winning in New York and has been battling a back injury heading into Wimbledon. "Truthfully I don't expect much from myself this year. I know I've just been dealing with certain things. I just want to go out there and embrace the moment," added Raducanu, who faces fellow Briton Mimi Xu in the first round. "I know there's not many opportunities to be playing at Wimbledon. You get it once a year and for a finite amount of time.
