643 roadside traders benefit cash aid

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 643 licensed roadside traders across Sabah have been identified to receive a special one-off cash assistance of RM5,000 each, involving a total RM3.215 million, as of April this year. Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Isnin Aliasneh said the initiative aimed at supporting small businesses, following criteria approved by the State Cabinet during a meeting on March 19 this year. He was replying to Nominated Assemblywoman Datuk Amisah Yassin, who sought details on the distribution of the aid, including in the district of Ranau. Isnin said the State Ministry of Finance had already channelled the necessary allocations to the relevant local authorities (PBT) based on the number of qualified recipients. He said these lump sum payment funds would be distributed directly to eligible traders. 'This one-off RM5,000 assistance is targeted at small licensed roadside traders across the state to help them sustain their businesses,' he said. Opar constituency gets RM670,000 boost for RTP projects
Billy (fifth left) and other officials gather for a group photo during the site visit. – Ukas photo LUNDU (July 12): A total of RM670,000 has been allocated for five Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects in the Opar constituency, following the official site handover ceremony yesterday conducted by Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang. According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the site visits were organised by the Lundu District Public Works Department and involved Kampung Temaga Dayak, Kampung Temaga Melayu, SMK Lundu, Kampung Raso 1, and Kampung Raso 2. The site handovers marked the beginning of implementation works for each RTP initiative, aimed at fulfilling the needs and expectations of the local communities. Among the projects is a RM250,000 upgrading of the Kampung Temaga Dayak community hall and RM70,000 for upgrading works at Masjid Darul Iman in Kampung Temaga Melayu. In addition, RM200,000 has been allocated for the second-phase upgrading of the dining hall at SMK Lundu. Two other projects include the RM50,000 repair works for the Women's Bureau kitchen building in Kampung Raso 1 and RM100,000 to upgrade the parking area at the multipurpose hall in Kampung Raso 2. Chery Malaysia donates RM50k to KWASN for sports development
CHERY Malaysia, an automotive manufacturer, has contributed RM50,000 to the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN), reflecting the corporate sector's continuous support for national sports development. The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) stated that they appreciate the contribution, which was announced during the launch of the Chery Tiggo Cross last Wednesday. Adding to this, Chery Malaysia will also contribute a portion of the profits from the sale of the Chery Tiggo Cross model to KWASN, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to KBS's efforts in promoting and developing sports, aligning with the National Sports Vision 2030. 'Chery Malaysia has gifted cars to Malaysian athletes who won medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Strategic collaborations between the government and private sectors like this not only have the potential to elevate national sports performance to a higher level but also serve as an appreciation for athletes who have brought glory to the country on the world stage,' according to a KBS statement today. KBS also encourages more companies and corporate entities to contribute to KWASN or any sports development initiatives, whether in the form of sponsorship, financial contributions, or collaboration in talent development programs.
