Lies Of P: Overture Shows Off New Bosses At Summer Game Fest 2025
The trailer showed off some of the new bosses that were mentioned during our hands-on preview with Lies of P: Overture, as well as several new ones and possibly a new character who looks a bit like Jeppeto. Players will be taken back in time to the world of Krat before the Puppet Frenzy and experience a world that is as beautiful as it is brutal.
'Lies of P was a historic debut for our team, and it felt fitting to expand the story we've crafted in the most noteworthy fashion during Summer Game Fest with a surprise shadow drop on all platforms,' said Jiwon Choi, game director, ROUND8 Studio. 'This expansion allowed us to complete the first arc of our story, and we hope our community feels the same love and support as they did for the base game. Please stay tuned for what awaits Geppetto's Puppet.'
In addition to the DLC launch, the base game will receive a patch with two new difficulty settings and two new challenging boss battle modes. The boss battle modes are accessible via the Hotel Krat Stargazer once players have seen at least one base game ending. The DLC will also feature an arsenal of weapon combinations and Legion Arms that provide unprecedented freedom to forge unique combat styles.
In what was probably the biggest surprise of the announcement, Lies of P: Overture was surprise released during Summer Games Fest 2025. Lies Of P: Overture is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

All PS Plus Subscribers Can Play Lies of P and Other Games This August
Lies of P is an award-winning game that reimagines the story of Pinocchio as a soulslike action roleplaying game set in a grimy world overrun by killer mechanical puppets. And starting Aug. 5, all PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to play that award-winning game, and others, at no additional cost. PlayStation Plus is Sony's version of Xbox Game Pass, and it offers subscribers a large, constantly expanding library of games. Subscribers can choose from the Essential, Extra and Premium tiers, which each have unique perks and benefits. The plans start at $10 a month, and each tier gives subscribers access to monthly games and rewards. Here are the games all PS Plus subscribers can play starting Aug. 5. You can also check out the games Sony added to the PS Plus Game Catalog in July, including Cyberpunk 2077. Lies of P This is a macabre soulslike game akin to Bloodborne and based on Carlo Collodi's classic tale, The Adventures of Pinocchio. Puppets have torn the city of Krat apart, and you play as Pinocchio as he searches for Geppetto in the grisly, oil-stained city. You'll encounter traps, twisted contraptions and maniacal humans in your search throughout the city, and maybe you'll find what it means to be human along the way. DayZ Sony Can you survive the zombie apocalypse? DayZ places you and dozens of other players into a dense 163 square-kilometer (about 63 square-mile) map filled with zombies and materials you'll need to last. And with no checkpoints or saves, you'll need to work together; otherwise, you'll have to start all over. My Hero One's Justice 2 This over-the-top fighting game is the sequel to the arena fighting game My Hero One's Justice. In this game, you can fight as -- or against -- many of the characters from the popular anime series My Hero Academia, including All Might, Endeavor and Fat Gum. You'll use your characters' Quirks -- or unique powers -- to overcome your opponent's abilities and win these epic clashes. Lies of P leads August's lineup of PS Plus games
After kicking off its PS Plus 15th anniversary celebrations last month , Sony has announced the PS Plus Monthly games for August. From August 5, members of all of the service's tiers will be able to add Lies of P (PS5, PS4), DayZ (PS4) and My Hero One's Justice 2 (PS4) to their libraries. The headliner is undoubtedly Lies of P , the surprisingly great Pinocchio-flavored soulslike from 2023. South Korea-based studio Neowiz's twisted take on the oft-reimagined children's novel stood out in what is now an overwhelmingly crowded genre, thanks to its stylish Belle Epoque-era setting and slick combat. There aren't many better FromSoft tribute acts around. The post-apocalyptic survival game DayZ launched on PS4 with not-exactly-glowing reviews in 2019, but is still getting fairly regular updates in 2025. Meanwhile, 3D arena fighter My Hero One's Justice 2 is worth checking out for fans of the My Hero Academia manga on which it's based. As it continues to mark 15 years of its Game Pass -rivalling subscription service, Sony has announced that from August 5, members can download a set of anniversary avatars. Themed around the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 , Hogwarts Legacy , Diablo IV and God of War Ragnarok , as well as cult retro favorite Twisted Metal , these are also available to subscribers on all tiers.
