In a viral TikTok video, an enthusiastic mini dachshund puppy can't hide his excitement about going on his first ever cycling ride with his owner, and internet users can't cope with the heartwarming footage.
The clip, shared on Thursday under the username @thehotdogernie, shows the 12-week-old wiener from Germany, Ernie, dragging his carrier around the living room before going on a bike ride with his owner.
As they ride through green fields and countryside roads, stopping for a quick walk in the grass, the pup sits right up on his carrier, enjoying the wind blowing through his ears. "First cycling tour," reads the caption.
While they are great couch pups, dachshunds still need a minimum of an hour exercise every day, or half an hour if you have a miniature variety.
Dachshunds have a very playful nature, and are therefore great entertainers. They are also very sociable and don't do well on their own. Instead, they prefer having someone by their side all the time to play with.
While they are indeed loving and loyal to their families, they also have an independent side to them when it comes to training, and are most suited for experienced owners who are used to the breed's unique quirks.
The best way to train a dachshund is with positive reinforcement starting at an early age, according to U.K.-based veterinary charity, The People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA).
With this type of training, you focus on rewarding the progress that you pup makes, ignoring any bad behaviors. You can read more about the best way to train your pup here.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 248,200 views and 38,100 likes.
One user, Claudine Cooke, commented: "I thought you were about to lift off when I saw those adorable little ears flapping in the air."
Elle said: "It's the flying ears for me. Cuteness overload. My heart."
Ac_lem added: "Hi vet here, it's actually really dangerous because with the wind, he might thinks he's an airplane and [take off]."

'60s pop icon ‘feeling much better' after hospitalized with ‘extreme pain'

Connie Francis is starting to recover after the legendary singer was hospitalized with 'extreme pain' last week. 'Hello Everyone, Today I am feeling much better after a good night, and wanted to take this opportunity of wishing you all a happy Fourth of July,' Francis wrote on Facebook Friday, July 4. 'Thank you all for your continued kind thoughts and prayers. A happy Independence Day to you and your loved ones.' The singer's positive update came after she shared that she was hospitalized a few days earlier. 'As many of you may now have learned through Cousin Brucie's Facebook page, I am back in hospital where I have been undergoing tests and checks to determine the cause(s) of the extreme pain I have been experiencing,' Francis wrote in a July 2 Facebook post. 'I had hoped to take part in Brucie's show for Independence Day, having had to cancel a previous slot a few weeks ago when receiving treatment on my hip. Sadly, I had to let him know that I again had to withdraw.' Francis ended the post by thanking her fans for their 'many get well soon messages.' Loved ones continued to send the pop icon supportive messages on her last Facebook post. 'Praying for your recovery and many more good days,' one comment reads. Famous rock singer responds after booed at historic farewell concert

David Draiman, lead singer of Disturbed, has spoken out after he was booed at a historic farewell concert over the weekend. Draiman was booed as he appeared at 'Back to the Beginning' in Birmingham, England on Saturday, July 5, according to a TikTok that has gotten more than 880,000 views since it was posted the same day as the show. The concert was meant to honor Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath, who gave their final performances. Draiman, who shared part of the livestream from 'Back to the Beginning' on X, wanted to prove that he 'wasn't 'booed off stage' as so many people in the press and CERTAINLY #FreePalestine crowd, would have you believe." 'Yes, there were a few boos when I walked out, but I came to pay homage to my teachers, my idols, the mighty Black Sabbath, and I wasn't about to let a few Jew hating morons deter that,' Draiman wrote on X. 'It's all about feeding their narrative, generating clickbait, and inciting hatred of Jews.' The singer added that another version of the video has been circulating online 'that added enhanced booing to the performance just to add fuel to the fire. Pathetic.' Draiman, therefore, directed folks to the livestream, which he said 'shows the truth.' 'Both songs went over great,' the frontman wrote. 'You wouldn't know that from some of the media however, who are only too eager to roast marshmallows next to this dumpster fire of a (expletive) story. Oh well Still here.' Draiman, who is Jewish, has been an outspoken supporter of Israel. He has repeatedly denounced the Hamas attacks on Israel as acts of terrorism and said in 2022 he didn't care if he alienated people with his pro-Israel stance. Last year, he called former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters and other activists seeking to boycott Israel for suspected human rights abuses 'Nazi comrades,' Jewish Journal reported. Draiman added that he and Disturbed will return to the U.K. in the fall 'to what's shaping up to be a VERY successful run,' hinting at the band's high amount of ticket sales. 'I am STILLUNAPOLOGETICALLY A FIERCELY PRO ISRAEL JEW,' he concluded. 'I will ALWAYS stand up for my people, and I won't be deterred, intimidated, or shamed out of rocking the asses of the masses. Put that in your pipes and smoke it.' Draiman has been the lead singer of Disturbed since 1996. He has written some of the band's most successful songs, including "Stupify," 'Down with the Sickness,' 'Indestructible," and 'Inside the Fire.' Hit Parader listed Draiman 42nd on its 2006 list of the 'Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time." The singer has earned and three Grammy Award nominations for being part of Disturbed. Gen Z diners tripped up by common menu pricing abbreviation — and wind up slapped with $160 bill

Talk about a pricey 'POV.' Three Gen Z sisters got a not-so-tasty surprise when they ordered steak at a coastal North Carolina restaurant — only to realize too late what 'MKT' on the menu actually meant. Spoiler: it doesn't mean 'Marked down' — it means 'market price.' Advertisement In a TikTok video that's racked up more than 19 million views, Aribella Menold, 20, and her siblings shared their shock after ordering dinner at Moonrakers, a white-tablecloth waterfront joint in Beaufort. 'POV: You didn't know what 'mkt' meant on the steak menu and now you're paying for it,' the caption read as the camera panned to their stunned expressions and the $159.14 bill. The sisters had unknowingly racked up a hefty tab that included two 12 oz New York strip steaks for $52 each, a $28 baby kale Caesar salad with an extra $11 for grilled chicken, a $10 kid's grilled cheese and a $3 Sprite — proving once and for all that even salads can be a financial ambush. Advertisement Their subtotal came to $145 with a 3% credit card surcharge that added an additional $4.35 and the 6.75% sales tax tacked on another $9.79. 'We thought the price was going to be like $20-$30,' Menold told Newsweek. Turns out, 'MKT' is restaurant shorthand for 'market price,' a cryptic code used for items that fluctuate based on availability, seasonality and ingredient cost — usually seafood or steak. In other words: if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. Advertisement Menold's video, originally posted to Instagram and then to TikTok, blew up overnight. Luckily for the sisters, their wallets were spared the full damage. 'Our grandpa ended up paying for it, which was so sweet of him,' Menold explained to the outlet. The sisters unknowingly feasted their way to a fat bill totaling $160. Aribella_Menold/TikTok But the internet had thoughts — and no shortage of them. Advertisement '$160 is not bad if you divide the bill by three, each person pays 53 dollars which is good,' one commenter shrugged. Another gasped, 'That's like 53-55$ each girl is spending on dinner. That's wild tbh.' Others zeroed in on the leafy green culprit: 'Okay but a salad being 28 dollar [s] is diabolical.' Still, some blamed the staff for not stepping in: 'Honestly shame on your server for not informing you of the price when it's clearly not listed. One complaint and all of my old bosses would have ripped me a new one for not informing the guest and probably make me pay out of pocket for it.' A separate TikTok user offered this sage advice: 'Unless you're rich, don't buy items off a menu if they don't have a price.' Lesson learned: when dining out, always ask the price — or bring your grandpa. As The Post previously reported, a whistleblowing ex-staffer at California's now-closed Automat claimed those feel-good 'living wage' fees slapped on your bill are nothing but a tip-toeing façade. Advertisement 'If you see a restaurant charging a 'cost of living,' 'equal pay' or 'mandatory service fee' like the 20% this restaurant did, be suspicious,' Jordan Smith explained in an Instagram story post shared by Eater San Francisco. 'It's possible the back-of-house teams aren't seeing much of that money,' he continued regarding the non-server crew. Meanwhile, a ticked-off diner went viral last month after posting a receipt showing a mandatory 'living wage fee' — and the internet lost its appetite. Turns out 'MKT' is just fancy menu-speak for 'market price' — a slippery little code used for steaks, seafood and other dishes that change with the tides and the supply chain. nicoletaionescu – Advertisement Tipping rules may differ coast to coast, but here in NYC, the law's pretty clear: 'Restaurants cannot charge a surcharge or other fee in addition to listed food or beverage prices,' per the city's Consumer and Worker Protection rules. However, they can 'charge a bona fide service charge — but only if the charge is conspicuously disclosed to consumers before food is ordered.'
