15 years after his breakout role, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is back to being a ‘struggler' in new film
may have first appeared on the big screen in John Matthew Matthan's 1999 police drama Sarfarosh, but his true breakthrough didn't arrive until 2012, when he captivated audiences in Anurag Kashyap's gritty gangster saga
Gangs of Wasseypur
– Part 2. That long wait of fourteen years, filled with perseverance, hardship, and unwavering determination, has become such an intrinsic part of his identity that portraying the role of a struggling artist came naturally to him.
This was especially evident in Dibakar Banerjee's short film Star, a segment in the 2013 anthology Bombay Talkies, where he convincingly stepped into the shoes of a
struggling actor
.
Now, over a decade since he became a leading face in
Indian cinema
with diverse roles in multiple languages and storytelling formats, Siddiqui is set to embody the life of a struggling actor once again. In Aditya Kripalani's upcoming feature
Main Actor Nahi Hoon
(which translates to I'm Not An Actor), he takes on the part of a man who, though residing in Germany, works as an
acting coach
to a woman in Mumbai—exclusively through FaceTime video calls. The film explores the nuances of
mentorship
, ambition, and identity, all while relying on an unconventional storytelling format.

For Siddiqui, slipping into the mindset of a struggling actor doesn't require much effort. Having spent more than a decade grappling with rejection and hardship in the early phase of his career, he finds the emotional memory still sharp and deeply embedded. In an interview with
SCREEN
magazine, he acknowledged that his prolonged journey of 12 to 15 years in obscurity still resonates with him. In many ways, he continues to experience challenges—albeit of a different nature today. That intimate familiarity with the world of the underdog allows him to infuse authenticity and rawness into such roles.
"It's very easy because that phase was very long. I was a struggling actor for 12-15 years. I'm still struggling, though in different ways. But yes, when you have first-hand experience, it becomes quite easy to play a character," he told the magazine.
Main Actor Nahi Hoon had its world premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival, held in San Jose, California—an event that takes place near the headquarters of Apple.
In addition to this film, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen in three upcoming projects: Noorani Chehra, Sangeen, and the sequel Raat Akeli Hai 2.

They say among the most loyal people in the world are fans who will follow your advice on everything from makeup products to food preferences. With the summer breeze flowing through the air, people are gravitating more and more towards vacations and drinks. In this scenario, many fans of Lady Gaga, one of the most popular singers across the globe, have been trying out her signature drink and the reviews were absolutely unexpected. In a Vanity Fair YouTube video titled "Lady Gaga Takes a Lie Detector Test" the pop star shared that she drinks red wine in an unusual way. When asked by the interviewer to explain, she said "with maraschino cherries and Diet Coke." While the interview was published in February, the influencers and followers have been trying out the drink during the summer. The drink has an official name- kalimotxo or calimocho and comes from the Basque Country of Spain. In the more popular version, it consists of red wine mixed with cola, while some like to mix it with lime soda or orange pop. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She's 75 and Retiring - Her Handcrafted Jewelry Is 80% OFF Artisan Weekly Read More Undo Do the netizens like Lady Gaga's signature drink? Image credits: Getty Images A TikToker recently tried the drink and shared that "you can't really tell" the different flavours of the red wine and coke when mixed together. 'The two together … kind of cancel each other out, both very subtle,' she said. Another content creator described it as a "boozy cherry coke, but with rich tannins from the red wine." However, they added that they won't be having it again. "It's not completely foul, it is mayhem in a glass." One influencer actually made the drink at home and actually liked it, saying, "This is getting a well yes from me. I'll definitely be drinking more of these." 'Gaga definitely stole that idea from 16-year-old me when I was trying to fool my dad that I don't drink,' one person joked. "Been doing that for years! Red wine with diet squirt. It's good on hot summer days." wrote a person on X. "If anyone's gonna stir up chaos with a cocktail, it's Gaga. May not be for everyone, but that's kinda the point," added another. The drink, however, is not a new concoction. Numerous Europeans confirmed that it's been a staple in bars for years, especially in the late 2000s. For those who love trying new drink flavours, Lady Gaga's signature drink might be worth a try.
