Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Stars League has been ranked as the 12th best league in the continent in the new club competition rankings for the 2024-2025 season, released by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on Sunday (June 29, 2025).
The new classification places Iraq just outside the top ten, in a list dominated by the Saudi Pro League at number one, followed by Japan's J.League and South Korea's K League 1. The UAE and Qatar round out the top five.
This ranking provides a continental benchmark for the Iraqi Stars League as its domestic season nears its conclusion. The final round of matches is set for next Friday, July 4th.
The top three positions in the league have already been decided, with Al-Shorta SC having clinched the championship with two rounds to spare, followed by Al-Zawra'a SC as runners-up, and Zakho SC securing third place.
