Baghdad ( – The Iraqi Stars League has been ranked as the 12th best league in the continent in the new club competition rankings for the 2024-2025 season, released by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on Sunday (June 29, 2025). The new classification places Iraq just outside the top ten, in a list dominated by the Saudi Pro League at number one, followed by Japan's and South Korea's K League 1. The UAE and Qatar round out the top five. This ranking provides a continental benchmark for the Iraqi Stars League as its domestic season nears its conclusion. The final round of matches is set for next Friday, July 4th. The top three positions in the league have already been decided, with Al-Shorta SC having clinched the championship with two rounds to spare, followed by Al-Zawra'a SC as runners-up, and Zakho SC securing third place.

Baghdad ( – Al-Shorta SC has officially been crowned champions of the 2024-2025 Iraqi Stars League, securing the title with two rounds still left to play. This victory marks the club's fourth consecutive league championship, cementing a remarkable era of dominance in Iraqi football. The Green Harp clinched the top spot after capitalizing on unexpected negative results from their closest rivals, Al-Zawra'a, in the final rounds. Al-Shorta finished the season with an impressive 83 points. Al-Zawra'a secured the runner-up position with 74 points, while Zakho finished third with 67 points. They were followed by Al-Talaba (60 points), Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya (57 points), and Al-Karma (55 points), rounding out the top six. Baghdad ( – Al-Shorta SC took a giant leap towards securing the 2024-2025 Iraqi Stars League title on Sunday (June 15, 2025), following a dramatic day of results in Round 35 that saw their closest rivals, Al-Zawra'a, suffer a shock defeat. In a stunning result, Al-Qasim SC defeated title-chasing Al-Zawra'a 2-1 at Al-Zawra'a's home ground. Al-Qasim raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Mohammed Khalid (25′) and Saif Rasheed (27′). Though Mamadou Soro pulled one back for Al-Zawra'a, it wasn't enough, leaving them frozen on 74 points. Meanwhile, Al-Shorta capitalized decisively, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Al-Naft at Al-Shaab International Stadium. Baghdad ( – Four impactful matches took place in Round 35 of the Iraqi Stars League on Saturday (June 14, 2025), with significant results affecting the race for third place and the battle against relegation.
