His Majesty The King is set to welcome French President Emmanuel Macron for a state visit to the UK, scheduled from 8th to 10th July, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace.
Buckingham Palace has released a statement saying: "The President of the French Republic, His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by Mrs Brigitte Macron, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a state visit to the United Kingdom from Tuesday 8th July to Thursday 10th July 2025.
"The president and Mrs Macron will stay at Windsor Castle."

This event follows the King and Queen Consort's own state visit to France in September 2023.
It's been 17 years since the last state visit from France took place in March 2008, when President Nicolas Sarkozy was hosted by Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor, reports the Mirror.
In related news, the UK is also gearing up for a visit from US President Donald Trump this September, with the Palace reportedly 'setting a date' for his second state visit. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer extended the invitation to Trump during a Washington trip in February, on behalf of the King.
Additionally, the King and Queen Consort have a significant international engagement later this month, as they are set to travel to Canada on 26th and 27th May for the State Opening of Parliament in Ottawa, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace.
Charles is set to make his 20th visit to Canada, but this time as the reigning monarch. The King and his consort are scheduled for a Canadian tour shortly after Mark Carney's Liberal Party clinched electoral victory.
The Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre's campaign faced setbacks when former US President Donald Trump targeted Canada with trade sanctions and controversial statehood comments.
An official statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed: "The King and Queen will visit Canada from Monday 26th to Tuesday 27th May. The King, accompanied by the Queen, will attend the state opening of the Parliament of Canada, in Ottawa."
Last spring, Charles and Camilla's planned trip to Canada was delayed due to the King's health issues, as reported by Canadian media.

Air Canada launches new motorcoach route next month

The Canadian airline just ranked the best in North America has a new luxury service. Air Canada, in collaboration with The Landline Company, now offers a premium motorcoach service. Linking select regional airports to Toronto Pearson International Airport for smooth access to Air Canada's global network, travellers can relax with reclining leather seats, free Wi-Fi and more. Travellers departing from Hamilton and Waterloo Region airports can enjoy perks such as boarding pass and baggage tag printing on-site and disruption protection. Bonus: Aeroplan points can be earned on the Landline portion of the trip. The service is designed to make travel easier for residents of the Niagara region and nearby areas by removing the hassle of driving to Toronto, finding parking, or arranging alternative transportation to reach Pearson Airport. What is the new route for Air Canada? The motorcoach service connects Hamilton International Airport (YHM) and Region of Waterloo International Airport to Toronto Pearson International Airport. When will Air Canada's new route start operating? The new luxury motorcoach service will begin operating September 23, 2025, with two return trips daily. Since May 2024, Air Canada and The Landline Company have been operating intermodal services connecting Toronto Pearson with John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and Region of Waterloo International Airport. With the latest expansion, Landline will now offer two daily non-stop round trips between Toronto Pearson and Kingston Norman Rogers Airport in eastern Ontario. Travellers departing from Kingston will check in as usual, receive boarding passes for their entire journey, and have their bags tagged. At a designated pick-up point at the Kingston airport, they'll board a premium Air Canada-branded motorcoach while their checked luggage is loaded. Upon arrival at Pearson, they'll head straight to the self-service bag drop and proceed through security. To mark the launch, many motorcoach segments are available at no additional cost compared to fares from Toronto Pearson. Air Canada is also offering a fee waiver for customers who wish to add motorcoach segments to existing bookings—available through the Air Canada Contact Centre until December 31, 2025. If a coach or flight is delayed, Landline passengers will receive the same protection and support as those on standard air-only itineraries. Aeroplan members will also earn points for both the ground and air portions of their journey, just like with any regular connecting flight.

Failed attempt to house asylum seekers on former Lincoln airbase cost at least £48m

Home Office accounts have revealed £48m was wasted on a plan to house asylum seekers on a former Lincoln airbase. In March 2023, it was announced RAF Scampton was to house 2,000 migrants as part of proposals by the previous Conservative government to reduce the reliance on hotels. The scheme was met with widespread anger and disbelief in the local area. Plans were scrapped in September as part of an election pledge by the new Labour administration. Nobody was ever housed at the site – the former home of the Dambusters – despite millions being poured into the project. The level of losses have recently been published in the Home Office's accounts for the last year. It also showed costs could have ballooned as high as £180m if the project had been pursued for another three years. The government has previously admitted that a total of around £60m was spent on the site, of which £48.5m has been recorded as a loss. Lincoln MP Hamish Falconer told ITV News: "I'm honestly furious. I've been opposed to this plan since the very beginning. We always said this wasn't going to work for lots of obvious reasons. "I saw the site, just about a month ago, and I could not believe - with fury - all the NHS spending that has gone on in Scampton for a plan that was never going to work. That money should have gone on Lincoln County Hospital. "What we want to see is the site used for proper commercial purposes. It should be bringing in jobs. It should be reflecting the heritage of RAF Scampton. "Obviously, there is an issue in relation to asylum seekers that needs to be dealt with, but RAF Scampton should be for different purposes and that's what I've always said." Sarah Carter, from Save Our Scampton, said: "We're nearly a year down the line and we're still none the wiser what's going to happen here. "All that money wasted, and they're still wasting it. It's just haemorrhaging money, and we want an end to this so we can stop spending the money and so we know what's going to be happening." Backed by West Lindsey District Council, Scampton Holdings wants to develop the site. They're keen to push ahead with its regeneration plans to create a hub for heritage, aviation, defence and space. In a report shared with ITV News - the company said the project would bring in £5m every year to the local visitor economy, support more than 750 jobs, and generate an estimated £25m. Sally Grindrod-Smith is heavily involved in the West Lindsey District Council's plans for the regeneration with Scampton Holdings. She said: "I hear on a daily basis how frustrated the community are. You can see the site is deteriorating rapidly and there's real concerns over whether we'll be able to bring this back into use. "We've worked hard to make sure there are still investors interested, and our development partners are ready to go. "The council are committed, and we're ready to go once the home office get ready to sell the site." A Home Office spokesperson said: 'A review carried out in September 2024 determined that, due to decisions taken by the previous government, the costs associated with the Scampton site had surged well beyond initial estimates and no longer delivered value for money for taxpayers. 'The cost of exiting this site was minimal compared to the projected minimum £180 million required to keep it running until March 2027.'

Some have taken to social media to vent their frustrations at the incident. One wrote: "How is it that the one day I choose to take the Eurostar they choose to cut power to the high speed rail in Northern France? "What are the odds?" However, according to lucky holidaymakers, regularly services are slowly being restored for some passengers. One person posted: "Thanks Eurostar for working through the track problems affecting all trains headed west from Paris Nord today. "Our train was late, but still running today.
