Tuanku Muhriz calls for Aulad Sejahtera module to be expanded to all preschools in N. Sembilan

PORT DICKSON: The implementation of the Aulad Sejahtera module in 25 selected Islamic kindergartens involving 5,000 students in Negeri Sembilan this year should be expanded to all preschool categories, said the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
He said the module not only emphasised the noble values of Islam but also upheld the elements of Adat Perpatih, which was the state's cultural heritage.
Tuanku Muhriz said the module integrated the Japanese education concept, Tokkatsu, with the operant conditioning approach introduced by psychologist Burrhus F. Skinner.
'This module aims to instil noble values such as respect, love, responsibility, trust and courtesy, which are essential in shaping a balanced and harmonious personality among children at the preschool level.
'These values also form the foundation for efforts to develop a society that is morally, socially and humanely balanced,' he said at the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Briefing 2024 at Lexis Hibiscus Hotel here today.
Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Aziz Sheikh Abdul Kadir.
Tuanku Muhriz said that although the impact might not be immediately apparent, efforts to instil and nurture these values must begin now.
The Ruler added that the module was not limited to Muslim children but was relevant and should be applied to all students, regardless of race or religious background.
To expand the module to all preschool categories without compromising its core values, Tuanku Muhriz said that several elements and submodules of Aulad Sejahtera would need to be reviewed and modified to ensure they were acceptable to all races.
'The involvement of various parties, especially representatives from different races and segments of society, is crucial to ensure the approach developed is inclusive and reflects our shared aspirations,' he said.
Tuanku Muhriz expressed hope that the module could be incorporated into the mainstream education system, particularly in primary schools, through Islamic Education and Moral Education subjects.
He said that to realise this goal, cooperation with the Ministry of Education was vital, especially in the areas of research, evaluation and policy implementation.
'I am confident that, with this comprehensive, integrated and cross-racial approach, the nation will nurture a new generation who are not only knowledgeable and skilled but also possess noble character and a strong sense of identity,' he said.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Bernama) -- The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) is organising the Al-Quran Di Mana-Mana: Tilawah dan Tadabbur programme as part of its efforts to promote daily Quran reading among Muslims. Jakim director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the campaign is being held in conjunction with the 65th International Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly (MTHQA), scheduled to take place at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from Aug 2 to 9. 'This campaign highlights tilawah (proper recitation) and tadabbur (contemplation) al-Quran, conveying the profound message that reading and reflecting on the Quran should not be confined to formal events alone, but can be embraced as a daily practice anywhere, on public transport, in the office, at recreational parks, or in public spaces, as part of the Islamic way of life,' he said here today. He spoke to reporters at the flag-off ceremony for participants of the Al-Quran Di Mana-Mana 2.0: Kuala Lumpur-Hatyai (Thailand) programme at the KL Sentral Electric Train Service (ETS) station. Sirajuddin said the campaign is not aimed at gaining popularity, but is a sincere call for society to return to the Quran as a lifelong companion, which is to be understood, felt, and reflected upon. He said the first segment of the campaign runs from July 29 to 31 in collaboration with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), utilising the ETS service from KL Sentral to Padang Besar, before continuing the journey to Hat Yai via the State Railway of Thailand. He said that throughout the trip, participants will engage in Quran tilawah, tadabbur and ibrah (wisdom) sessions, adding that these activities will continue at Islamic centres, mosques, surau, and community spaces in designated border areas, to enable participants to experience the message of the Quran in a deeper, more personal, and reflective manner. He added that various social and community service activities will also be carried out throughout the journey, including the distribution of aid to local communities and the waqf (endowment) of Quran copies to educational institutions, mosques, surau, and tahfiz centres. He said the second segment of the programme consists of a special Al-Quran Everywhere initiative in Bukit Bintang on July 31, carrying the message that the Quran should be upheld as a close and accessible guide for life, regardless of time or place.

The historical Kota Kinabalu Community Hall was destroyed in a fire Tuesday (July 29). KOTA KINABALU: A historical community centre in the heart of the city's central business district here has been destroyed in a fire. The 12.30am blaze on Tuesday (July 29) destroyed 80% of the hall that sits along Jalan Dewan at the foothill of the city's Signal Hill. No casualties were reported, and an investigation is underway to establish the cause of the fire. Teams of firemen from three stations in Kota Kinabalu and neighbouring Penampang district rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12.44am, but were only able to bring the fire under control by 2.40am before dousing it completely by 3.30am. The fire engulfing the Kota Kinabalu Community Hall. The interior of the hall was destroyed, although the building's structure was not badly damaged. Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Muhammad Taqiuddin Victor Doon said the fire also spread to the adjacent Kota Kinabalu City Hall recycling store. 'When we arrived, we found that the fire involved almost the entire hall and a recycling storage store," he said. The Kota Kinabalu Community Hall is seen as a historical landmark in the city as it was used by the British colonial government, and was the site of major events, including gatherings for the formation of Malaysia. The hall, then known as Jesselton Community Hall (the colonial name of Kota Kinabalu), was officially opened in 1958 by British North Borneo governor Sir Roland Turnbull. According to records, the construction was financed with money obtained by the Committee of the Management of Japanese Assets following the end of World War II in 1945. The hall was a venue for community and political gatherings, exhibitions and sporting events such as boxing, badminton and basketball matches in its more than six-decade history. Its design was considered advanced for the times, with a pin-based gable frame and 15-degree pitch allowing the hall to be built without interior pillars. This design enabled it to have a capacity of 800 people and accommodate basketball and badminton courts. The steel framework was fabricated in Melbourne, Australia, and shipped to Sabah. The construction was handled by a local company for a total cost of 280,730 North Borneo dollars. In the early 2000s, the state government proposed to demolish and relocate the hall but heritage conservation activists protested, and the idea was shelved. The hall stood as a post-war symbol of reconstruction, as most of Jesselton was destroyed during the Allied liberation of Sabah from the Japanese.
