DTTDC invites bids for horticulture work at three heritage sites in Delhi

News186 days ago
New Delhi, Jul 18 (PTI) The Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) has invited online bids for the development of horticulture and landscaping work at Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal, Bijri Khan Tomb and Maqbara-e-Paik sites in the national capital, along with a one-year maintenance period with an estimated cost of Rs 47.15 lakh.
According to the tender notice issued by DTTDC on Thursday, the scope of work includes development of horticulture work, including landscaping with one-year maintenance at Bhuli Bhatiyari ka Mahal in the Central Ridge Reserve Forest in Karol Bagh, Bijri Khan Tomb in RK Puram and Maqbara-e-Paik in Mukarba Park along NH-1 Bypass.
The estimated cost for the entire project is Rs 47.15 lakh, with an earnest deposit of Rs 94,316. The completion period is specified as 30 days for initial development, followed by one year of maintenance, the tender stated.
The deadline for submitting the bid is 3 pm on July 25 and the earnest money in original form must be submitted by the same deadline, while the lowest bidder will be required to submit additional documents within seven working days after the bid opening, it mentioned.
Tenderers have been advised to inspect the site and make themselves familiar with the nature of the work, site conditions, and access points. They will be responsible for arranging their own materials, tools, and facilities unless otherwise stated in the tender documents, it read.
Bhuli Bhatiyari ka Mahal, located in the Central Ridge near Karol Bagh, is a 14th century hunting lodge believed to be built during the Tughlaq dynasty. The monument, now part of Delhi's protected ridge forest, is often associated with local folklore and is largely abandoned now.
Bijri Khan's Tomb in RK Puram is an example of Mughal-era architecture, though lesser known, and stands amidst a busy urban landscape, often requiring upkeep to preserve its historic integrity.
Maqbara-e-Paik, near Mukarba Chowk, is another under-recognised heritage structure believed to have been constructed during the late Mughal period, surrounded by modern infrastructure development and in need of aesthetic revival. PTI SHB SHB MNK MNK

TTD opens new SRIVANI darshan ricket centre in Tirumala to ease devotee rush

In a major move to improve the pilgrimage experience, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams ( TTD ) inaugurated a new SRIVANI Darshan Ticket Centre on Tuesday, aimed at streamlining the ticketing process for devotees. Situated opposite Tirumala's Annamayya Bhavan, the state-of-the-art centre was inaugurated by TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu and Executive Officer J. Shyamala Rao. The launch comes in response to long-standing complaints about early morning queues and long wait times for SRIVANI Darshan tickets. Pilgrims often begin lining up as early as 5:00 AM to secure these highly sought-after tickets. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo 'Devotees have faced long waits since early morning,' said Mr. Naidu during the inauguration. 'These new counters, built for Rs. 60 lakh with advanced infrastructure, will make ticketing faster and easier,' he added. The SRIVANI Trust, a significant initiative by TTD, enables devotees to make contributions toward temple development projects in exchange for special entry darshan. Due to its popularity, the demand often outpaces supply, leading to delays — an issue the new facility aims to solve through a more efficient setup. Live Events Alongside the ticket centre, Mr. Naidu also inaugurated modernised sub-inquiry offices at the High-Level Cottages (HVC) and Annaprasadam Complex (ANC) areas. These upgraded offices are intended to offer better assistance and information services to pilgrims. Following the inauguration, Mr. Naidu also inspected the new facilities to ensure they align with the needs and expectations of visiting devotees.

Bengaluru: Namma Metro Yellow Line Set For August Debut, What To Expect?

Last Updated: With 16 stations and big ridership hopes, Namma Metro's Yellow Line aims to change how Bengaluru moves. The much-awaited 19.15-km-long Yellow Line of Namma Metro is likely to open by August 2025, bringing some much-needed relief to Bengaluru's busy roads. The route connects RV Road to Bommasandra with 16 stations in total. Officials are aiming to open all 16 stations at once, though they may begin with just seven key stops depending on readiness. How Many Trains Will Run Initially? At launch, only three trains will operate on the line. These will run from 5 am to 11 pm, with a train available every 20–25 minutes, completing 30–40 round trips per day. Each end-to-end trip will take roughly 80 minutes. As per Times Now News, if only seven stations are opened, the frequency may increase to handle passenger load more efficiently. What Are the Ridership and Revenue Expectations? Despite the soft launch, authorities expect a promising start. Daily ridership is projected to be around 25,000 in the beginning, with daily earnings estimated between Rs 10–15 lakh. Once all 15 trains are operational by next year, ridership could jump to 2 lakh per day, generating nearly Rs 60 lakh in revenue. To manage the crowd, only select entrances at some stations might open initially. Meanwhile, full staff, security, and operational teams will be on duty from day one. A fourth train is expected by August 10, but it requires two weeks of testing. If it arrives after the line opens, testing will be done at night, possibly causing delays. What's Next? The CMRS (Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety) began inspecting the Yellow Line earlier this week. Their report is due within days. Once BMRCL clears all safety checks, the final green signal will be given to kick-start services. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
