Strength coach sets Guinness World Record
AHMEDABAD: Strength and conditioning coach Jesal Trivedi, 47, has entered the
Guinness World Records
. Trivedi recently received his certificate for a feat accomplished earlier this year on Jan 12 — running 50km with a 40-pound backpack in 8 hours and 50 minutes.
For Trivedi, the marathon was not just a test of physical endurance but a challenge to societal norms, proving that age is no barrier to achieving extraordinary goals. His record-breaking effort stands as a testament to determination, resilience and disciplined strength training.
Aformer Gujarat state heavyweight boxing champion, Trivedi turned to fitness coaching after a shoulder injury ended his boxing career.
Over the past decade, he has focused on bridging the gap between gym-goers and endurance athletes. 'Strength and endurance are two sides of the same coin,' he said. 'Many people chase fad diets and fitness trends focused solely on leanness. I wanted to prove that concurrent training can unlock extraordinary potential in both strength and stamina.

Asia Cup 2025 schedule finalised, India vs Pakistan clash set for 7 September: Report
The wait for Asia Cup could be coming to an end soon as all the participating nations, includin hosts India, are likely to get clearances from their respective governments soon, according to a report in the Times of India. Reportedly, all matches of the upcoming tournament will be played in UAE and the tournament will kick off from 5 September. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and UAE will be the six nations participating in the upcoming tournament which will be played in the group stage and Super Fours format. This would mean that the high octane India vs Pakistan will be played at least two times in the tournament with the second clash set to be played on 14 September. The Asia Cup will be played in T20I format and the penutimate clash will played on 21 September. Reportedly, the promotional activities for the tournament have already begun with official broadcasters Sony recently sharing a poster for the multi-nation tournament. Notably, there were question marks about the tournament especially after the recent escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of Operation Sindoor. However, if Asia Cup continues as planned it would send a message for all future international tournaments as well. Earlier this year, there were reports that India may pull out of Asia Cup due to the cross border tensions but BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia had refuted those claims in a statement in May. He said, "Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news items about BCCI's decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both ACC events. Ghaziabad Development Authority to build shooting range, running tracks in Newari
Ghaziabad: Following CM Yogi Adityanath 's order to transform the city into a sporting hub, the city's development authority has decided to construct an international-standard shooting range across 10 acres in Newari. "A meeting was held to discuss the prospect of establishing a shooting range in Newari, where the GDA has earmarked 10 acres of land. The shooting range will also include a running track and hostels for athletes," said Atul Vats, chairperson of the GDA. The CM, during his recent district visit, also announced that the Ghaziabad development authority (GDA) would develop a cricket stadium. Earlier in April this year, the state's expenditure finance committee, under the state smart city project, approved a budget of Rs 108 crore for a multi-purpose sports complex in the city, which will host 22 indoor and outdoor sports. The complex, spread over 48,000 sqm in Nandgram, will seat 750 people and have parking for 400 vehicles. It will include six tennis courts, nine badminton courts, two squash courts, basketball courts, semi-Olympic swimming pools, box cricket, a cricket practice pitch, and other facilities, which will be capable of hosting national-level tournaments. Construction and Design Services will develop the complex, and from the date of tendering, it is expected to be ready in 18 months.
