In a shocking case that has stunned Madhya Pradesh, a 27-year-old man has accused another man of not just betrayal and blackmail, but of forcibly altering his gender through surgery, drugging and raping him, and keeping him confined under threats of violence.
The survivor, a resident of Obedullaganj, approached Bhopal's Gandhi Nagar police station last week with a harrowing account that stretches back to 2021. What began as a same-sex relationship, he alleged, spiralled into a terrifying sequence of manipulation, coercion, and abuse, culminating in a gender reassignment surgery he claimed was performed without his full consent.
The complainant said that his ordeal began after a visit to his sister's in-laws' home in Narmadapuram a few years ago. There, he met Shubham Yadav, a local resident from the Gwaltoli area. The two men grew close over time, and by 2021, they were in a romantic relationship. The survivor claimed that Yadav built his trust, even transferring Rs 6 lakh into his account over time. But behind this apparent affection, he alleged, lay sinister intentions.
According to the FIR, Yadav lured the complainant to a private hospital in the Khajrana area of Indore on November 18, 2022. There, the survivor claimed, a gender reassignment surgery was carried out without his proper understanding or consent. Just over a month later, on December 25, he was allegedly summoned to Narmadapuram, where he said that Yadav raped him under the influence of drugs.
The victim alleged that he was then kept in captivity for 18 days. 'He would perform occult rituals on me at night and then sexually assault me," the complaint stated. He also claimed that he was repeatedly taken to a GNP hotel near Meenakshi Chowk and assaulted.
The complainant further said that Yadav began demanding Rs 10 lakh in cash and threatened to kill him if he refused. 'He told me he would set me on fire if I ever returned to Narmadapuram," the survivor said.
Fearing for his life, the youth finally approached Gandhi Nagar police in Bhopal. Given that several incidents occurred in Narmadapuram, the case was subsequently transferred to Kotwali police station there. SDOP Parag Saini has reportedly formed two police teams to trace the accused, who remains on the run.
The case has raised serious questions around medical ethics, consent, and exploitation within vulnerable relationships. Police have launched a manhunt for Shubham Yadav, and efforts are underway to identify the hospital and medical personnel involved in the alleged unauthorised gender reassignment surgery.

Patna: An accused linked to the murder of businessman Gopal Khemka was gunned down after an encounter in Bihar capital's Malsalami locality early Tuesday morning, officials said. The accused, identified as Vikas Kumar alias Raja, allegedly accompanied the shooter, Umesh Yadav, who was directly involved in Khemka's murder on Friday night. Our investigation indicates that an individual had taken a contract of Rs 10 lakh to kill Khemka and subcontracted it to Umesh for Rs 1 lakh,' a senior police officer said, adding that further details will be shared as the investigation progresses. Businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead in Patna on Friday night, triggering shock and concern among the business community and raising questions about the law and order situation in the state capital. The high-profile murder case put the Nitish Kumar government in a spot at a time when the ruling coalition of JD(U) and BJP is prepping for the Assembly polls. The Opposition, the RJD and Congress targeted the state government over Bihar's law and order situation. The Chief Minister met top officials after the shocking murder and asked them to complete the probe into the businessman's murder at the earliest.

Two booked for ₹17 crore tax fraud; ran shell firms in Prayagraj
Two individuals have been accused of tax fraud to the tune of ₹17 crore in Prayagraj, police said. Allegedly, the duo ran shell companies and submitted fake electricity bills with their GST registration documents. (For representation) The fraud came to light when the firms' financial records were being checked by SGST officials last week. The accused men–Vishal Kumar Jaiswal and Mohammad Mohsin–were booked for fraud in separate cases registered in Naini and Jhunsi police stations on Monday, officials added. SGST assistant commissioner Rajendra Singh Yadav had lodged the complaint against Jaiswal, the proprietor of Vikas Enterprises located in Naini. According to the FIR, Vikas had claimed in his GST documents dated July 30, 2024, that his company dealt in hardware, steel and iron trade. Vikas showed an outward supply of ₹6,982.67 lakh through the bill. During their probe, SGST officials found that no such firm existed at the mentioned address. It was found that the electricity bill submitted was forged. Jaiswal received an Input Tax Credit (ITC) of ₹1,254.47 lakh or 12.54 crore without transporting the goods, the FIR stated Similarly, a case was registered in the Jhunsi police station against one Mohammad Mohsin alias Mohammad, the owner of Mohammad Enterprises that was in the scrap business. Mohsin, in his GST papers in December 2024, had shown a turnover of ₹1,690 lakh in 2024-25 and ₹884 lakh in 2025-26. However, the firm was later found to be a shell company. Mohsin's PAN card identified him as Mohammed Mardan. His electricity bill was also found to be fake. His firm had cheated the government of Rs. 4.88 crore in taxes, the FIR stated.

Kerala HC Orders Arrest Of Sunk Vessel's Sister Ship After State Seeks Rs 9,531 Crore In Damages
Last Updated: On May 25, MSC Elsa, carrying over 643 containers, including hazardous cargo and plastic pellets, capsized about 13 nautical miles from Thottapally spillway off Kerala coast The Kerala High Court has ordered the conditional arrest of MSC Akiteta-II, a sister vessel of the Liberian vessel MSC Elsa, which sank off the state's coast. The government has filed an admiralty suit and sought Rs 9,531 crore as compensation, including for pollution damage, remedial action taken by the state and the loss of livelihood of fishermen. The ship is currently at the Vizhinjam port in Trivandrum and according to the order, the vessel can leave the port only if the company gives a security for the amount. Advocate General K Gopalakrishna Kurup and advocate Parvathy kottol, government pleader, appeared for the state. In its plaint, the State invoked Section 4 of the Admiralty (Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Act, 2017, to seek compensation, including Rs 8,626.12 crore for pollution damage, Rs 378.48 crore for environmental restoration, and Rs 526.51 crore for economic losses suffered by fishermen and coastal communities, amounting to a total maritime claim of Rs 9,531.11 crore. The State also asked that interest at the rate of 6 per cent per annum be awarded from the date of suit till judgment and thereafter at 12 per cent till realisation. It was on May 25 that MSC Elsa capsized approximately 13 nautical miles from the Thottapally spillway off the Kerala coast. According to the admiralty suit, the vessel was carrying over 643 containers, including hazardous cargo and plastic pellets known as 'nurdles'. According to the suit, 'The incident has resulted in massive pollution of Kerala's marine ecosystem, with oil slicks and floating cargo causing serious detriment to the environment, coastal fisheries, and public health." As on June 30, over 61 containers have washed ashore along the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, and Ernakulam, and approximately 59.6 metric tons of plastic nurdles have been collected and transported from Veli Beach to Kollam Port. Manual and mechanical clean-up continues with the aid of 600 government personnel and 300 volunteers under the supervision of the Marine Emergency Response Centre. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) declared the incident a 'state disaster". Financial relief has been sanctioned to 78,498 fishermen families and 27,020 allied families at Rs 21,000 per person, along with free ration of 6kg rice per head. The fish market has also suffered a severe crash due to contamination fears. The admiralty suit also stated that six cetacean carcasses, including dolphins and a whale, have been found ashore, suspected to have died due to exposure to microplastics and toxic substances released from the vessel.
