Motilal Oswal sees 28% upside in Glenmark Pharma, hails $700 mln cancer drug deal as ‘new era' for innovation play
Motilal Oswal has reiterated a 'buy' rating on Glenmark Pharmaceuticals with a raised target price of Rs 2,430, implying a 28% upside from the current market price of Rs 1,904, as it hailed the company's recent licensing deal with AbbVie as a turning point for its innovation-led strategy. The brokerage said the agreement—executed via Glenmark's subsidiary Ichnos Glenmark Innovation (IGI)—'validates several aspects' of the company's R&D platform and unlocks substantial commercial potential. The target price revision factors in an additional net present value (NPV) of Rs 470 per share from the deal, layered on top of 27x 12-month forward earnings from Glenmark's base business. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Co-live Units Starting from 42L+ | Whitefield Sumadhura Learn More Undo 'The deal validates several aspects of GNP: a) the strength of IGI's BEAT protein platform for oncology and auto-immune diseases; b) the potential of ISB-2001 to treat relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma; and c) the commercial viability of ISB-2001 following successful clinical trials and subsequent commercialization,' the brokerage noted. IGI has entered into an exclusive global licensing agreement with U.S.-based AbbVie for ISB-2001, a first-in-class trispecific T-cell engager currently undergoing Phase 1 trials. Under the agreement, IGI will receive an upfront payment of $700 million, contingent on regulatory approvals, and is eligible for up to $1.2 billion in milestone-based payouts, along with tiered, double-digit royalties on sales. Motilal Oswal pointed out that this is one of the largest licensing transactions globally in terms of upfront payment, ranking fourth in the pharma sector. 'Oncology accounts for the majority of global licensing deals,' it said, adding that ADCs, bispecifics, and protein degraders continue to command the highest deal premiums. Live Events Financial re-rating backed by growth outlook The brokerage expects Glenmark's consolidated revenue, EBITDA, and profit after tax to grow at a compound annual rate of 11%, 17%, and 20% respectively over FY25–27. These are expected to reach Rs 163 billion, Rs 33 billion, and Rs 20 billion by FY27. 'Over the past two years, GNP has: a) reduced its financial leverage; b) improved the commercial prospects of innovative R&D c) strengthened its ANDA pipeline for the US market; and d) undertaken a strategic reset in its domestic formulation business,' Motilal Oswal said. The brokerage said it estimates a 23% earnings CAGR over the next three years, driven by 10%/7%/12%/14% growth in the domestic, US, EU, and rest-of-world segments respectively, supported by a 200-basis-point margin expansion. Motilal Oswal called ISB-2001 'scientifically superior,' citing a higher overall response rate and complete/stringent complete response rate of 30% at active doses. The drug, which co-targets BCMA and CD38 antigens in multiple myeloma, has a favourable safety profile and aims to overcome resistance observed in BCMA-only therapies. The brokerage sees strong commercial prospects ahead. 'Backed by its superior treatment profile and AbbVie's robust commercial strength, ISB-2001 holds strong potential to emerge as a blockbuster drug in the RRMM space,' Motilal Oswal said. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals' shares surged 20% on Friday, buoyed by investor optimism following the AbbVie licensing deal. The rally marks one of the sharpest single-day gains for the stock in recent years and comes as the market absorbs the implications of what Motilal Oswal terms 'a new era' for the company's innovation pipeline. 'He Forced Me To Change Gender And Then...': MP Man Accuses Boyfriend Of Rape, Black Magic
Last Updated: A 27-year-old man from Obedullaganj, Madhya Pradesh, accused his male lover of betrayal, blackmail, forced gender reassignment surgery, drugging, rape, and confinement In a shocking case that has stunned Madhya Pradesh, a 27-year-old man has accused another man of not just betrayal and blackmail, but of forcibly altering his gender through surgery, drugging and raping him, and keeping him confined under threats of violence. The survivor, a resident of Obedullaganj, approached Bhopal's Gandhi Nagar police station last week with a harrowing account that stretches back to 2021. What began as a same-sex relationship, he alleged, spiralled into a terrifying sequence of manipulation, coercion, and abuse, culminating in a gender reassignment surgery he claimed was performed without his full consent. The complainant said that his ordeal began after a visit to his sister's in-laws' home in Narmadapuram a few years ago. There, he met Shubham Yadav, a local resident from the Gwaltoli area. The two men grew close over time, and by 2021, they were in a romantic relationship. The survivor claimed that Yadav built his trust, even transferring Rs 6 lakh into his account over time. But behind this apparent affection, he alleged, lay sinister intentions. According to the FIR, Yadav lured the complainant to a private hospital in the Khajrana area of Indore on November 18, 2022. There, the survivor claimed, a gender reassignment surgery was carried out without his proper understanding or consent. Just over a month later, on December 25, he was allegedly summoned to Narmadapuram, where he said that Yadav raped him under the influence of drugs. The victim alleged that he was then kept in captivity for 18 days. 'He would perform occult rituals on me at night and then sexually assault me," the complaint stated. He also claimed that he was repeatedly taken to a GNP hotel near Meenakshi Chowk and assaulted. The complainant further said that Yadav began demanding Rs 10 lakh in cash and threatened to kill him if he refused. 'He told me he would set me on fire if I ever returned to Narmadapuram," the survivor said. Fearing for his life, the youth finally approached Gandhi Nagar police in Bhopal. Given that several incidents occurred in Narmadapuram, the case was subsequently transferred to Kotwali police station there. SDOP Parag Saini has reportedly formed two police teams to trace the accused, who remains on the run. The case has raised serious questions around medical ethics, consent, and exploitation within vulnerable relationships. Police have launched a manhunt for Shubham Yadav, and efforts are underway to identify the hospital and medical personnel involved in the alleged unauthorised gender reassignment surgery. Arab Finance: The fourth edition of the Egypt Mining Forum is set to launch on July 15 th, organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, according to an official statement. The two-day event will convene major local and international companies as well as investors in the mining sector, led by Barrick Mining Corporation, the world's second-largest gold producer. The forum, which will be inaugurated by Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi, supports the ministry's third strategic pillar aimed at maximizing the value of mineral wealth and increasing the mining sector's contribution to the national economy. This positions Egypt as a promising investment destination in mining, given the latest developments and reforms that have enhanced the investment climate, attracting more investment into the sector. Meanwhile, the ministry is working to support the sector's growth by leveraging Egypt's geological landscape, infrastructure, and diversified energy sources. These efforts include advancing the mining agreement frameworks, particularly in gold and mineral exploitation with Barrick Gold and AngloGold Ashanti. Additionally, the transformation of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA) into an economic body is expected to contribute to increasing mining's share in the gross national product (GNP). The forum will enable investors and experts to interact with officials from Egypt's mining sector through specialized panel discussions and an accompanying exhibition. It aims to highlight the potential of Egypt's mineral wealth, explore ways to raise its added value, and capitalize on the positive investment developments in the mining sector. © 2020-2023 Arab Finance For Information Technology.
