Texas A&M's 2026 edge class could end up reaching historic levels by the end of the year, with two key commitments approaching, starting with four-star KJ Ford out of Duncanville (TX), and five-star Anthony "Tank" Jones, who both placed the Aggies in their final three program lists. While Ford is down to Ohio State, Florida, and A&M, Jones has revealed final contenders.
Jones has not revealed his commitment date, but is now down to Oregon, Alabama, and Texas A&M, as the Mobile (AL) native took an official visit to all three programs this summer, including College Station on June 13. Jones left Texas A&M with nothing but positive takeaways, knowing that defensive line coaches Sean Spencer and Tony Jerod-Eddie already have a development plan in place for the elite pass rusher to reach his full potential.
Texas A&M's history of producing NFL defensive linemen is vast and unique, led by Myles Garrett, Von Miller, and Nnamdi Madubuike, all of whom are considered top players at their position. Garrett and Miller are first-ballot Hall of Famers.
This summer, Jones received several predictions to land at Texas A&M early last month, but things have tightened up after his official visits to Oregon and Alabama. Still, the Aggies should be considered the favorites going forward.
Standing at 6'4", 240 pounds, Jones is a versatile defensive lineman who could see snaps inside at the next level; however, his strength is off the edge, where he wreaks havoc with a two or three-point stance, and is extremely powerful once he makes contact. During his 2024 junior season, Jones was dominant, producing 84 tackles, 16 sacks, and 18 tackles for loss.
According to Rivals, Jones is currently positioned as the 23rd-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 2nd-ranked edge and the 2nd-ranked prospect in Alabama.

Will Caitlin Clark play Saturday? Indiana Fever update groin injury

Caitlin Clark continues to mend a left groin injury that will now sideline her for a fifth straight game. The Indiana Fever (9-8) listed Clark as "out" in their Friday evening injury report ahead of Saturday's home date against the Los Angeles Sparks (5-13). It's the ninth regular season game that Clark has missed during the 2025 WNBA season and the 10th including the WNBA Commissioner's Cup championship game against the Minnesota Lynx. Fever head coach Stephanie White commented on Clark's injury recovery earlier on Friday following Indiana's practice before Clark's status for Saturday's contest was revealed. "Well, we went through semi-live shooting drills. I mean, it wasn't really live. It was semi-live shooting drills. Still hasn't gone full-speed in a practice or a live defensive group, but she's been getting some 3-on-3 work on her own. I think the biggest thing is she's stated she's not a fan of minutes restrictions. "If there's going to be a minutes restriction, maybe we'll hold her another game. It's evaluating her again in the morning, seeing what she's done with however many days there have been of more loading and make a decision from there. But, again, I prioritize her long-term health and wellness and making sure that when she comes back, she's a 100 percent," White said. Clark previously missed five games with a left quadriceps strain. Clark, the 2024 No. 1 pick, is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds in nine games this season, shooting 39.0% from the field and 29.5% from 3-point range. She recently was named an All-Star starter and captain by virtue of receiving the most fan votes. The Fever tip-off against the Sparks at 6 p.m. CT Saturday night in a game that will be televised on NBA TV. Texas A&M Football Best and Worst Case Scenarios: Uncertainty Will Make or Break Season

Texas A&M Football Best and Worst Case Scenarios: Uncertainty Will Make or Break Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas A&M football team has been going through a reconstruction phase — not so much rebuilding — after its 8-5 overall and 5-3 conference records in the 2024-25 season. The Aggies are a middle-of-the-pack SEC team at the moment, but head coach Mike Elko has put in a little elbow grease to redefine the team. Quarterback Marcel Reed is getting stronger, there's new depth to the wideout group, and there's a lot of hope for the team's future beyond 2025-26. Advertisement Even with these immediate changes to the roster for this upcoming season, though, there's uncertainty as to what this Aggies team can do and certainties that don't favor Texas A&M on the schedule. Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed runs the ball during Lysaker-Imagn Images Belief is what's powering this 2025-26 roster, and that's not necessarily a bad thing given the offseason adjustments. However, the Aggies are still in a gray position, especially in the SEC. CBS Sports' Brad Crawford composed a list of each SEC teams' best and worst case scenarios for the upcoming season. For Texas A&M, the team can hit double digit wins is the ceiling. The floor? An uphill battle on the road the Aggies won't come out of successful. Advertisement Texas A&M's road games against Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas are going to be challenging to come out of with a win. On top of that, Crawford said that Florida at-home is also potential for the Aggies to lose with quarterback DJ Lagway predicted to be a breakout player in 2025. A 5-7 record is worst case scenario, according to Crawford. Things can flip at any moment in the season, and ending with a three-game losing streak in 2024 is proof of that after an otherwise respectable season. However, the flip side to this is a 10-2 overall record that would reflect Elko's hard work in the offseason. More likely than not, the Aggies will put together a season that falls somewhere in the middle of these two scenarios. It's very uncertain how Reed's improvements will be showcased and if the wide receiver refinements will be the difference maker on offense. There's a lot of hope for Texas A&M, but now it's time for the roster changes to make it happen and sustain it. UTSA and Utah State won't indicate what the Aggies can get done. Sept. 13's Notre Dame more than likely loss, though, will be the first time to show real contention and grit — even if they don't win.
