Jimmy Kimmel is officially a grandpa!
The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host, 57, became a grandparent after his daughter Katie welcomed her first baby — a girl — with husband Will Logsdon.
Their happy news was shared by Kimmel on Tuesday, May 20, during his talk show's opening monologue. 'The baby's very healthy," he said, before revealing his granddaughter's name.
"Her name, they gave her a very cute name. Her name is Melania,' he joked, adding, 'It's Melanie Thee Stallion…"
He went on to give his granddaughter's real name: Patti Joan.
The newborn's first name is "like the melt, but with an 'I' not a 'Y,' " Kimmel said, while her middle name, Joan, comes from his mother's name.
Kimmel had been absent from Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, May 19, the day Katie's gave birth.
'We were supposed to have a show last night, but we didn't because my daughter had a baby last night," Kimmel explained at the top of the show. "My oldest daughter – you know, people don't realize, people that know I have two little kids, they don't know I have to older kids. My oldest daughter, she's 83-years-old. Her name is Katie. Katie and her husband Will had a baby girl right at the time we shoot our show last night. So I decided to be there instead here."
It was the second time Kimmel had skipped a show in 22 years. The last was when he had his appendix out.
Plenty of people were by Kimmel's side for his daughter's big day. "We had an army of people at the hospital, it was bigger than Coachella," Kimmel teased.
He gave extra praise to longtime sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez. "You were such a great doula," he joked. "You were reassuring, you were calm, your hands were soft, you were perfect. Thank you so much, on behalf of the whole family."
Kimmel shares daughter Katie, 33, and son Kevin, 31, with ex-wife Gina Maddy. He is also dad to son Billy, 8, and daughter Jane, 10, whom he shares with wife Molly McNearney.
At the Disney Upfront on Tuesday, May 13, Kimmel revealed that his daughter was pregnant and about to give birth to his first grandchild. "My daughter, my oldest daughter, is about to have a baby. I'm holding for applause," Kimmel said in the pre-recorded sketch. "I assume I'm getting applause, applause, applause, thank you. I'm going to be a grandfather."
He joked that his grandchild's naming rights were up for offer at the event.

Katie tied the knot with her husband Logsdon in September 2021. Kimmel opened up about Katie's ceremony when he stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "She actually turned 30 two weeks ago, which is strange to have a 30-year-old daughter," he said. "And she is getting married this weekend, as a matter of fact, which is a big deal."
As host Ellen DeGeneres congratulated him, Kimmel said: "Yeah, I guess."
"People keep saying congratulations," he continued. "I don't know what I'm being congratulated for. Congratulations on raising a human that is attractive enough to be taken by one person. It's not like we were trying to get rid of her, you know? It's not like we're selling a houseboat on eBay or something like that. But I guess congratulations is the thing."
Kimmel also confirmed that he does indeed like Katie's spouse Logsdon. "People ask that too like, 'How's the guy?' And I'll tell you, the guy is great," he shared. "His name is Will and he's a great guy. And if he wasn't, he'd be dead right now."

"I feel like it is so classic, timeless, but also feels a little unique. I love it," Brown shared. On my wedding day, I didn't want to feel that at all. I feel like a princess, and I feel like that's exactly how you should feel on your wedding day." Woolard also expressed his excitement, telling People he had always envisioned the moment of seeing Brown walk down the aisle. "I have always had a very clear picture of standing up at the altar and looking out at the audience and really connecting with everybody," Woolard said. "But then seeing Hannah walk down, I think is something that I've always had a very clear picture of and how I would feel in that moment. And I just, as a man, knowing that I'm going to get married, I've always had that image in my mind." The couple, who chose to live apart before their wedding, shared that they're looking forward to moving in together and "putting down roots" in Nashville. Brown met Woolard on a dating app, and they announced their engagement in August 2023, sharing a sweet carousel of photos on Instagram, including one where they touched foreheads as Brown showed off her engagement ring. "so happy," she wrote in the caption at the time. "i love our steady love. ❤️." Jay Leno Says Today's Late-Night Hosts ‘Alienate' Half the Audience With Political Jokes ‘Cozying Up to One Side': ‘I Don't Think Anybody Wants to Hear a Lecture'

Jay Leno believes late-night TV comedians have become too politicized — and that they risk losing half the viewing audience by 'cozying up to one side or the other.' 'To me, I like to think that people come to a comedy show to kind of get away from things, you know, the pressures of life, whatever it might be,' Leno said in a recent interview with David Trulio, president and CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. 'Now you have to be content with half the audience because you have to give your opinion.' More from Variety Jay Leno Says Jimmy Kimmel 'Humiliated Me' During 2010 'Tonight Show' Interview and 'I Let It Happen. I Didn't Edit It. It Was My Mistake.' Jay Leno Says Election Day Was 'Fair' and 'It Was Honest' After Trump Win: 'It Was a Great Day For Democracy' Jay Leno Recovering From Motorcycle Accident, Two Months After Suffering Serious Burns: Report Leno didn't name names. But the current roster of late-night hosts — Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Seth Meyers and more — has routinely mocked President Trump and the MAGA movement. To be fair, they have also opportunistically lampooned Democrats. Leno's impression is that late-night TV these days skews toward specific political viewpoints. 'I love political humor, don't get me wrong,' the late-night veteran told Trulio. 'But it's just what happens when people wind up cozying too much to one side or the other.' Leno asked rhetorically, 'Why shoot for just half an audience all the time? You know, why not try to get the whole. I mean, I like to bring people into the big picture.' Leno's interview with Trulio, formerly Fox News Digital's managing editor and head of strategy and editorial operations, was conducted before CBS announced on July 17 that it was canceling 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.' CBS claimed it was 'purely a financial decision.' The axing of Colbert's show appeared to many critics to be another concession to Trump, coming after CBS parent company Paramount Global agreed to pay the president $16 million to settle what legal experts said was a meritless lawsuit going after '60 Minutes.' After Trump said 'I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,' Colbert told Trump to 'Go fuck yourself.' On Friday, David Letterman, former 'Late Show' host, slammed the cancellation of Colbert's show as an act of 'pure cowardice' and suggested that Skydance Media (whose takeover of Paramount is set to close next month after the FCC approved the deal) wanted Colbert ousted to avoid problems with the Trump administration. The caption on the Reagan Foundation's YouTube interview clip with Leno, which was posted July 22, says, 'Late-night TV used to be about laughs — not lectures. ‪@jayleno‬ tells us why he never shared his political opinions on The Tonight Show, and why he thinks today's hosts are losing half of America by doing so.' The first part of Trulio's interview with Leno was posted July 9 on YouTube. Part 2, in which Leno 'shares his thoughts on Reagan's comedic brilliance,' was uploaded July 15. Leno hosted 'The Tonight Show' on NBC from 1992 to 2009; Conan O'Brien briefly took the reins of the show before NBC brought Leno back from 2010-14. Leno was the first late-night talk show host to conduct an interview with a sitting president, with President Barack Obama appearing on the show in March 2009. After Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election, Leno said in an appearance on 'The View' that he was 'not a fan' of Trump but that, 'The nice thing about this election is, it was fair, it was honest…. there was no cheating. Everybody says it was honest. I mean, it's a great day for democracy,' Leno added. In the interview with Leno, Trulio alluded to a study of the comedian's 'Tonight Show' jokes, which Trulio said had found were 'roughly equally balanced between going after Republicans and taking aim at Democrats.' According to a George Mason University analysis released in 2009, on 'The Tonight Show' from 1992-2008, Leno told 4,468 jokes about Bill Clinton, nearly 50% more than George W. Bush (2,999 jokes). Asked by Trulio what his strategy was vis-a-vis political humor, Leno replied, 'It was funny to me when I got hate letters [that said], 'You and your Republican friends' and 'Well, Mr. Leno, I hope you and your Democratic buddies are happy' — over the same joke. And I go, 'Well, that's good. That's how you get a whole audience.'' Leno has previously shared his belief that late-night hosts who have come after him are too one-sided. In 2019, he said on 'The View' that he 'always liked to humiliate and degrade both sides equally.' Blackpink Joins BTS In A Major Chart Feat

With "Jump," Blackpink earns its tenth Hot 100 hit, joining BTS as the only K-pop acts to rack up ... More double-digit wins on the most important songs chart in America. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 19: (EDITORS NOTE: Image has been processed using digital filters.) Blackpink perform at Sahara Tent during the 2019 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival on April 19, 2019 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Coachella) Blackpink fans have waited years for the band to reunite and release new music, and their patience has finally paid off. The K-pop girl group recently delivered 'Jump,' its first new single in years, which seems to be the beginning of a complete era. While big things were expected from the track, the tune still manages to impress. 'Jump' easily cracks the top 40 on the Hot 100 upon its arrival, earning the K-pop favorites not just another placement on Billboard's most competitive songs tally, but a milestone hit — one that places the four musicians in rare company. 'Jump' Reaches the Hot 100's Top 40 'Jump' launches at No. 28 on the Hot 100 this week. The tune likely would have opened in a loftier position had it not arrived during such a busy frame. Several songs from Justin Bieber's surprise new album Swag open ahead of Blackpink, but this is just the beginning for 'Jump' on the chart. Blackpink Hits the Hot 100 for the Tenth Time Blackpink earns its milestone tenth appearance on the Hot 100 as 'Jump' launches. The group is only the second K-pop act in U.S. history to collect double-digit placements on the songs ranking, following BTS, which managed the feat some time ago. The South Korean boy band has scored 27 smashes throughout the years. Sixth Top 40 Hit for Blackpink 'Jump' becomes Blackpink's sixth top 40 hit on the Hot 100. The group — made up of singers Rosé, Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa — previously climbed as high as No. 13 with 'Ice Cream,' a collaboration with Selena Gomez, which dropped in September 2020. That cut remains the band's highest-charting release to date. The newly-released 'Jump' now ranks as Blackpink's fourth-highest-peaking cut on the chart, trailing 'Ice Cream,' 'Pink Venom,' and 'Shut Down,' which peaked at Nos. 13, 22, and 25, respectively. Blackpink Outpaces J-Hope With More Hot 100 Hits Blackpink claims the second-most Hot 100 hits among all K-pop artists. The group is now two wins ahead of BTS star J-Hope, who has reached the list eight times as a soloist. Three of the four singers in Blackpink — Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé — have also earned multiple smashes on their own. 'Jump' Debuts on Nine Billboard Charts Blackpink launches 'Jump' on nine Billboard charts this week, and its starting position on the Hot 100 is among its lowest. The tune scores a top five debut on almost every other ranking, and the electronic dance single even conquers both of the company's global lists and one sales-specific tally.
