London:
American Robert Galloway, who retired from the mixed doubles having fractured his fourth finger (left hand), took the court for the Wimbledon men's doubles third-round match with his finger strapped.
Galloway and India's Yuki Bhambri put up a fight before going down to the fourth seeds, Spain's Marcel Granollers and Argentina's Horacio Zeballos 4-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4-10), in two hours and 12 minutes on Monday.
Bhambri and Galloway fought back from 2-5 in the decider but were outplayed by the fancied Spanish-Argentinian pairing in the match tie-break, where they jumped to a 7-0 lead. The Indo-American duo couldn't do much in the opening set but broke in the sixth game of the second and took a 4-2 lead.

The American was broken in the fourth of the third set when a Bhambri volley went deeper than the Indian hoped it would go, and the 16th seeds fell back 1-3 and then 2-5. Bhambri and Galloway won the next three games to climb back into the match.
With Bhambri's exit the Indian challenge at SW19 comes to an end. Going forward, the 33-year-old Indian will partner Kiwi Michael Venus. Bhambri admitted the plan was long term when he signed up with Galloway in mid-April.

They started together in Munich in mid-April and have played 10 tournaments together. After bowing out in the first round in their first three tournaments, they stepped down a level briefly to play a Challenger event, and made the final of the ATP 250 Series event in Mallorca coming into Wimbledon.
'Mike was available, he is one of my closest friends on Tour,' Bhambri said, 'At some point eventually we were always going to play together and this was an opportunity that we finally had.
It just made sense.'
The 37-year-old has known Bhambri since his teenage days. 'When he (Venus) started playing doubles, I was sort of the initial partner,' said Bhambri, 'We obviously had our first Grand Slam together, which has still been our best result to date in Australia, making the third round.'

Wiaan Mulder aborted Mission 400. Could any Indian batter do the same?

In a world where most people won't even walk away from free Wi-Fi, Wiaan Mulder casually turned his back on cricketing Monday at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, with Zimbabwe's bowlers bowling like they'd just finished a double shift on the field, Mulder was on 367*. The pitch was flatter than your neighbour's sense of humour, the sun was shining, time was on his side, and history had quietly taken a seat at the edge of the Lara's 400*? Within reach. And what did Mulder do?He looked at the scoreboard, gave history a polite nod, and went off to start He gave up a shot at the highest individual Test score ever to go and mop up does that?Honestly, in cricket's glittering history of stat-padding, milestone-chasing, and "just 50 more, skip," this is a once-in-a-lifetime event. The cricketing gods were probably halfway through prepping the Mulder mural at Lord's before he said, "Right lads, let's get some wickets."And now, the million-dollar question: how many Indian cricketers would have done what Mulder did?Let's be honest. Not many. Maybe a couple. But not loves cricket like Italians love pasta. But where Italians eat it, Indians worship it. Our cricketers are demigods. A square cut for four becomes a spiritual experience. The sound of a ball hitting a bat is basically a lullaby to a billion milestones? Oh, we love a milestone or threw a party when Sachin reached 100 international hundreds - even though we lost that match. Broadcasters still show his 200* in ODIs like it happened last week. Meanwhile, Dravid once declared the innings in Multan with Tendulkar stranded on 194*. To this day, you can't say "Multan" in Mumbai without getting a dirty there have been a few Mulders in Indian Kohli, in 2019, was on 254* against South Africa. He could've had a triple ton for breakfast. But no - he declared. That was pure Kohli: job done, let's get to work. (Never mind he retired before hitting 10,000 Test runs. He was never about the stat chase anyway - more like, "Win the match, look good doing it.")MS Dhoni? Oh, he's the patron saint of selflessness. In the 2014 T20 World Cup semi-final, he defended the last ball so Virat could hit the winning runs. Not Test cricket, sure, but still. That's the man who walked off into retirement in the middle of a Test series without even a farewell match. Try getting an Indian fan to forgive the BCCI for Gavaskar, on the other hand? He stuck around for that sweet 10,000-run landmark—and fair play to him. He was the first to get there, and it this is the thing - in Indian cricket, individual brilliance is a form of team service. Tendulkar scoring a hundred felt like India winning, even if we lost. Kohli batting like a machine gave everyone hope. Dhoni finishing games? That was Wiaan Mulder, that lad, just tore up the script. Wiaan Mulder enters the history books with a stunning 367* against Zimbabwe #ZIMvSA | : ICC (@ICC) July 7, 2025He scored a triple hundred on his debut as captain. Pushed past 350 like it was a Sunday jog. And when 400 was right there, at touching distance, he stepped back and said, "That's enough. Let's go bowl."Imagine what Twitter would do if an Indian batter did that. The poor guy's WhatsApp would explode. #Just50MoreBro would be trending for a four-day Tests creeping in and draws being hunted to extinction, this might be the last time we see a batter get this close to Lara's 400*. And to see someone walk away from it? It's both beautiful and totally the end, Mulder's name might not be etched next to Lara's in the record books, but you can bet your last slice of stadium samosa that cricket fans won't forget what he chose not to sometimes, the most unbelievable stories in cricket are the ones where a player says, "No thanks. I've done enough."- Ends

Virat Kohli draws cricket-tennis parallel; netizens quip: ‘Wimbledon is his new Edgbaston'

During his visit to Wimbledon 2025, former Indian cricket team captain and cricketer Virat Kohli talked about the pressure levels in cricket while comparing it with tennis. Fans quip that his mind is still in the Edgbaston test where India Vs England test series is going on. He joined the All England Lawn Tennis Club on Day 8 of the Championships to witness the Round of 16 clash between Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur on Monday, July 7. 'Cricket carries a lot of pressure due to the large crowds in the stadium. However, I'd say it's not as overwhelming as being on Centre Court because of the distance between you and the spectators. When we bat, the fans are far away, so you can focus on your own game and block out distractions. You don't hear the cheers or boos directly in your ears, except when you're fielding at the boundary. Even then, there's less pressure on your individual performance to succeed or fail," Kohli told Star Sports. He added, 'In tennis, everything is at stake, and a single point can change everything. The pressure players experience, especially on Centre Court, is immense. I have a great deal of respect for tennis players for that reason keeping their composure, staying fit, and demonstrating such mental strength is truly impressive.' One of the users said, 'Guess Wimbledon's the new Edgbaston for Virat—same grass, different game, but still no escaping the spotlight.' Another remarked, 'He is not looking happy at all. His body is there but mind stuck in Edgbaston.' 'We miss you. Come back to Test cricket @imVkohli And schedule more ODI series @BCCI,' reacted an internet user. 'I've been in touch with Novak for a while now. We've been exchanging messages, he's been very gracious and kind to stay in touch. So, I would say I want Novak and Carlos to be in the finals and probably want Novak to win this one, so that will be a tremendous thing for him at the stage of career that he is. He is in the conversation for being the greatest of all time, right up there with anyone else, if not the number one, maximum number of grand slams. So, he deserves it. I feel with the amount of hard work he's put in, I really wish he plays Carlos in the finals and he wins,' he stated. Kohli further recalled, "It's great being here again. Me and Anushka came here in 2015, that was our first experience of being here at the wonderful Centre court and just to experience what Wimbledon truly is. It was very, very special. We always planned on coming back, could not make it happen for various reasons. Now we have bit of time in our hand and here we are again."

When asked what he would do after retirement, he gave an honest reply, 'I actually don't know what I will be doing post-retirement. Recently, I asked a teammate the same question and got the same reply. Yeah, but maybe a lot of traveling.' It seems Wimbledon was one of those travel stops. However, several reports suggest that Kohli and Anushka might have even moved to the UK with their kids, Vamika and Akaay. There's no official word on this yet, but fans are already guessing.
