Looking at the entire NFC East, Dak Prescott is one of the most intriguing players heading into the 2025 season. As he prepares to make a comeback, one analyst uttered a bold prediction for the Dallas Cowboys quarterback.
Back in 2023, Prescott looked to be cementing himself among the league's elite quarterbacks. He put together an impressive campaign in the regular season that nearly landed him MVP honors. However, things ended up going off the rails for him in 2024 when he suffered a season-ending injury after just eight starts.
Ahead of training camp, Prescott proclaimed to the media that he is back to 100%. Now that the action is underway, he's officially begun what he hopes to be a bounce-back year.

While on First Things First earlier this week, Chris Broussard dove into the expectations for Prescott and the Cowboys this season. When it comes to the star QB's production, he feels there's a reality where he notches over 5,000 passing yards.
"Your defense isn't very good, you're going to give up a lot of points. That means you're going to have to throw the football to stay in games," Broussard said. "You should put up huge numbers. I think you might throw for well over 5,000 yards."

Based on Prescott's track record in the NFL, this bold prediction is somewhat realistic. As Broussard mentioned, the Cowboys are likely going to remain a pass-heavy team this season. While they've made some upgrades in the backfield, it's doubtful Dallas has a consistent attack on the ground.
Knowing he's going to be getting up a lot of pass attempts each week, it's possible Prescott at least comes close to this mark. Especially considering the upgraded cast of talent around him. Tight end Jake Ferguson is healthy and eager to get back to the level of production from his Pro-Bowl season, and Dallas acquired wide receiver George Pickens in the offseason. Prescott has no shortage of viable targets around him, which should result in another strong season from him.

Prescott has never eclipsed 5,000 yards, but he's come close on a few occasions. He nearly did it in 2019, finishing the regular season with 4,902. His second-highest mark came in 2023 with just over 4,500.
If he's able to return to the caliber of player he was pre-injury, Prescott might have a chance to make Broussard's prediction a reality.

LeBron James and Maverick Carter were seen with Nikola Jokic's agent

There has been a lot of talk lately that LeBron James, one way or another, is on his way out as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and that they will look to essentially replace him with another superstar within the next couple of years. The belief is that the Lakers will try to go after either Giannis Antetokounmpo or Nikola Jokić next summer or during the summer of 2027. They reportedly want to keep a lot of salary cap space free for that purpose, which has led some to feel that they will essentially punt the next season or two and not try to win the NBA championship during that time. On his Instagram account, Misko Raznatovic, Jokic's agent, posted a photo of him with James and James' business manager, Maverick Carter, along with a cryptic caption. 'The summer of 2025 is the perfect time to make big plans for the fall of 2026!' This will undoubtedly spark speculation about James' future beyond the next handful of months. There have already been many rumors that he will eventually ask the Lakers to trade him soon, even though he exercised his player option for the 2025-26 season. Jokic, the three-time NBA MVP, who many still feel is the best basketball player in the world, can opt out of his current contract in the 2027 offseason. He just became the third player in league history to average a triple-double for an entire season, but he lost out on the 2024-25 regular-season MVP award to the Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Ichiro hilariously needles lone writer who left him off Hall of Fame ballot

Ichiro has a Hall of Fame mind and on off the field. The long-time Seattle Mariner didn't hold back during his Hall of Fame acceptance speech on Sunday, calling out the lone Baseball Writers' Association voter who failed to include him on his or her ballot, despite his historic career achievements. 'Three‑thousand hits or 262 hits in one season are achievements recognized by the writers. Well, all but one of you. And by the way, the offer for that writer to have dinner at my home has now expired,' Ichiro said to a roaring Cooperstown crowd. Ichiro was selected on his first ballot with a sweeping 99.7 percent of the vote share, collecting 393 of 394 votes. The achievement also makes Ichiro the first Asian-born Hall of Fame inductee. Over 19 MLB seasons, Ichiro racked up 3,089 major league hits with a career batting average of a blistering .311, as well as 509 stolen bases, 10 Gold Gloves, three Silver Slugger awards, and two batting titles. Ichiro's single-season record of 262 hits in 2004 still stands to this day. He also reached 10 consecutive All-Star games to begin his career, an MLB record. As of Ichiro's speech, the writer who left him off the ballot, keeping him from becoming the second unanimous first ballot Hall of Famer, has remained anonymous. Mariano Rivera received a perfect 425 of 425 votes for his initial Hall of Fame bid in 2019. Ichiro's 99.7 percent ties Derek Jeter for second place.
