This Verizon customer followed all the rules – and still got burned

Phone Arena17-06-2025
When it comes to online phone orders and trade-ins, especially pricey ones like iPhones, the risk of something going wrong seems higher than ever. T-Mobile users have long complained about devices disappearing during transit, but they are not the only ones dealing with this mess. Now, Verizon customers are sharing similar stories and they are just as frustrating. One Verizon customer recently vented online about a returned device that mysteriously vanished. It all started with a simple online order. The user bought an Apple device (which always seem to be the ones vanishing), decided to exchange it for another model, and followed the return process... or so they thought.
– mark1210a, Reddit, June 2025 About 10 days after sending back the device using the emailed label, tracking showed it had been received. But Verizon didn't send any confirmation emails about the return or refund. So, the user called customer service. The reps said they had no record of the return and pointed out that the two mailed labels were unused.
The customer explained that was because they used the emailed one – just like they had requested. The tracking number showed it was received, but Verizon said they'd have to check with the warehouse and opened a ticket.
– mark1210a, Reddit, June 2025 Seven days went by and still no update. When the customer called again asking for a supervisor, they were reportedly told nothing could be done – the return period had expired. End result? No phone, no refund, no way to escalate. Another phone lost in transit.Unsurprisingly, this wasn't an isolated case.
– AFunkinDiscoBall, Reddit, June 2025 So, where do all these missing phones actually end up? In someone's hands, that is for sure. For example, not too long ago, a $500,000 iPhone theft ring was uncovered, with T-Mobile 's missing devices at the center of it.
Meanwhile, over in Shenzhen, China, there's an actual building nicknamed "The stolen iPhone building." It has been linked to a global black market network trafficking stolen iPhones. Who knows – some of these vanished devices might've ended up there. And it is not always international crime rings – sometimes, the trouble starts closer to home. Earlier this year, a UPS employee in Florida was arrested and charged with stealing 171 iPhones worth more than $175,000. It is not just phones going missing, either – tablets and other tech are disappearing, too and customers are clearly fed up. So, if you want to avoid getting caught in a mess like this, there are a few things you can do. One of the safest moves is buying your device in-store, especially when you are spending over a grand on it. It is not always the most convenient, but at least you walk out with the phone in hand.Another smart move? Record yourself unboxing the phone as soon as it arrives. That footage could be a lifesaver if you ever need to prove something went missing or was never delivered.
Same goes for trade-ins – before you drop your device in the return envelope, grab a quick video of you packing and sealing it. That extra step could be the difference between a smooth process and a drawn-out fight with customer service.

Google leaks the first official image of all Pixel 10 models

Google is famously bad at keeping its secrets, and this week brought multiple proofs of that fact. We've already seen the Pixel 10 series in various leaks and renders, but this time Google's own store leaked a new image. A banner that appears to be advertisement for the Pixel 10 series was spotted inside the Google Play Store app on Android by Android Authority. The image was likely intended to be used after the premiere of the devices as it claims that they're 'Now available' with a $50 discount, available until October 13. There's no reason to believe the image isn't a real representation of the Pixel 10 series. That is also the first official Google image of the complete series, including the Pixel 10 , Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The banner on Android's Google Play Store | Image credit — Android Authority The new image sticks to a rather dull color for the three Pro models. If previous rumors are true, that's supposed to be the Moonstone color, which is supposed to have a blue tint. The Indigo blue Pixel 10 might serve as a bit of consolation for anyone who'd like to see Google's phones in bolder colors. Google has already teased the Pixel 10 Pro in an official image on the Google Store, along with a promotional offer. The teaser had a short video and an image revealing what might be the Moonstone Pixel 10 Pro . The full sized Pixel 10 series family photo | Image credit — Android Authority Once again, Google appears to be ready to reveal more of its new smartphones a bit before the official premiere. In recent years, the company has been showing off its devices early whenever leaks accumulate enough attention. Given the torrent of leaks this year, further reveals before the August 20 Made by Google event shouldn't be surprising. What has been largely missing from the leaks are the other devices Google is expected to premiere on August 20. There might be a Pixel Watch 4, which we've seen in leaked renders, a new Pixel Buds 2a, and a new wireless charger. However, we have heard only little bits of information about those. Whatever Google's plans might be, we'll learn everything on August 20. I might be a little disappointed by most of the colors of the smartphones, but I'm still excited to see the new Pixel lineup and how Google plans to tackle the Galaxy S25 and the iPhone 17.

Qi2 25W is official, promises hundreds of devices will support it

The Qi v2.2.1 standard now has a fancy marketing name: Qi2 25W. And as that name implies, this is a wireless charging spec that goes up to 25W. It was officially unveiled today by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The WPC promises that "major Android smartphones" (whatever that means) are about to "join the Qi2 ecosystem for the first time with this launch", obviously in addition to Apple's iPhones. Fourteen devices, receivers and transmitters, completed Qi2 25W certification testing last week, and full-scale certification testing is now open to "several hundred devices waiting in the queue to be tested". Undoubtedly most of those devices will be accessories like chargers and power banks, but it will still be interesting to see some Android phones supporting the new standard too. Whether they will keep going to magnet-free route or finally switch to built-in magnets like the iPhones remains to be seen. Compared to the previous, 15W spec, Qi2 25W delivers almost 70% more power, and according to WPC market research, faster wireless charging is the number one consumer-requested feature to improve wireless charging satisfaction. T-Mobile had the best U.S. wireless network during the first half of 2025 says new report

T-Mobile had the best mobile network in the U.S. during the first half of 2025, according to the Speedtest Connectivity Report released by Ookla. Overall, the nation's second-largest wireless carrier delivered a median download speed of 245.48 Mbps. The wireless provider's median 5G download speed was 299.36 Mbps. T-Mobile 's Speedtest Connectivity Score of 79.95 topped Verizon 's 75.49 tally and AT&T 's 72.47. T-Mobile also had a top-ranked 5G Connectivity Score of 73.22. According to Ookla, the Speedtest Connectivity Score reliably measures a carrier's overall mobile network connected experience using a combination of scores based on speed, web browsing, and video streaming. It wasn't close when deciding which carrier was fastest in the U.S. during the first half of this year. With a score of 74.45, T-Mobile trounced Verizon (65.72) and AT&T (63.16). The order was the same for 5G speeds, with a leading 58.02 for T-Mobile , 52.57 for Verizon , and 44.36 for AT&T . T-Mobile had the fastest 5G wireless speeds in the U.S during the first half of the year. | Image credit-Ookla When it comes to video streaming, Verizon scored the best with a result of 76.53. T-Mobile was thisclose to Verizon at 76.38. AT&T 's streaming video score came in at 71.91. Verizon had a bigger lead over T-Mobile in 5G video streaming as the latter's 79.95 5G video streaming tally trailed Verizon 's leading 82.57 score by a larger margin. AT&T was third as its 5G video streaming score was 76.05. If Verizon is the network for those who love to stream videos, T-Mobile is the carrier for gamers, according to Ookla's numbers. The wireless provider had leading scores of 86.61 for gaming (and 87.31 for 5G gaming). Verizon and AT&T were 2nd and 3rd with scores of 84.10 (86.33 for 5G gaming) and 82.81 (83.71 for 5G gaming), respectively. A lot of consumers in the U.S. subscribe to Verizon because they believe that the carrier has superior coverage. The Speedtest numbers show that Americans have this one right, as Verizon 's Coverage Score was 29.9% with AT&T second at 24.9%. T-Mobile was third at 22.9%. U.S. consumers consider T-Mobile to be the best wireless carrier in the U.S. | Image credit-Ookla When you must have a 5G connection, the T-Mobile network is your best bet as the wireless provider had a leading 90.8% 5G Availability Score. This means that nearly 91% of the time they were connected to T-Mobile , subscribers had an active connection to a 5G signal. That occurred 87.5% of the time for AT&T subscribers, and only 54.2% of the time for Verizon customers. When ranking carrier consistency, Ookla measures the percentage of time each carrier met or exceeded 5 Mbps with its download speed and 1Mbps with its upload speed. T-Mobile met these thresholds 87.6% of the time (77.6% for 5G). Verizon was next with a score of 84.7% (75.8% 5G), followed by AT&T 's 80.9% (66.6% 5G). 15 years ago, if you asked the average wireless user in the U.S. to rank the top carriers, the results might have been in this order: Verizon , AT&T , Sprint, T-Mobile . We've often discussed T-Mobile 's amazing turnaround, and I feel honored to have chronicled one of the most incredible worst-to-first stories that the business world has ever seen. The latest Consumer Sentiment scores have T-Mobile with a leading 3.78 out of 5 reading. Verizon placed second with a 3.40 score, and AT&T was third with a 3.12 tally. The fastest region in the U.S. was the District of Columbia, with a median mobile download speed of 200.29 Mbps. T-Mobile was the fastest carrier in that region. Among the U.S. cities with the largest populations, San Antonio had the fastest median mobile download speed at 249.15 Mbps. T-Mobile was the fastest carrier in that city. The carrier with the largest number of trophies received was T-Mobile . T-Mobile Best Mobile Network Best 5G Network Fastest Mobile Network Fastest 5G Network Game Score 5G Game Score Top Rated Verizon Video Streaming Score 5G Video Streaming Score AT&T was not at the top of any category measured by Ookla.
