TTD warns contract employees of ‘dire consequences' if they try to affect devotee services
While appreciating the contract workers in the medical, health and sanitation departments for rendering yeoman service, the management has warned of imposing Essential Services Management Act (ESMA) if they proceed to disrupt the services.
The warning comes in the wake of the strike notice served by the contract workers, who have been demanding resolution of their pending demands.
The management held talks with the workers on Wednesday (July 2, 2025), but no conclusive solution was arrived at the meeting.
While maintaining that the management was ready to address the genuine issues raised by the workers, the TTD warned that any step that impeded the working of the temple machinery would be seriously dealt with.
In a press release, the TTD warned the 'external forces,' indirectly referring to the trade unions owing allegiance to political parties, to keep away from meddling with the temple management, and not unduly influence the workers to obstruct the smooth running of the administration.

Call for reclaiming India's role as ‘Vishwaguru'
The National Hindu Dharmic Conference held here adopted resolutions aimed at 'safeguarding and revitalising Hindu traditions and temple governance.' The conference, organised by Sadhu Parishad here on Wednesday (July 2), called for the immediate revocation of all controversial Government Orders (G.O.s) that adversely affect temple administration. It was strongly recommended that only religiously committed individuals (Dhārmikas) be appointed to temple trust boards to ensure faith-based leadership. One of the major proposals was to declare Tirupati as a spiritual city, alongside implementing a strict ban on alcohol and meat consumption within its limits. To preserve cultural integrity, the government was urged to extend full protection to Hindu festivals and religious processions. The conference, presided over by Srinivasananda Saraswati Swamiji, adopted another resolution emphasising the need to declare cow as India's national animal and establish goshalas (cow shelters) in every village, preferably on temple land. In addition, barren land should be utilised exclusively for cultivating fodder for cows. Educational reforms were also highlighted, including a call to open new institutions under the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in every district. Moreover, the TTD was urged to run its own goshalas and to use ghee from those cows in the preparation of laddus, thereby maintaining spiritual purity and self-sufficiency. Additional proposals included government funding for ashram maintenance and the removal of government employees who converted after obtaining employment based on caste reservation. BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav emphasised the need to position Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) as a global spiritual beacon, saying that despite India's immense spiritual wealth, over 80% of the world remains unaware of its dharmic depth. 'India is poised to reclaim its ancient role as 'Vishwaguru', the spiritual guide of the world.' Citing the recent International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam, where lakhs of participants chanted 'Om' in unison, Mr. Madhav lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in bringing dharmic consciousness back to the forefront of global discourse. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) State president Vabilishetty Venkateshwarlu, VHP organisational secretary Ravi Kumar and others spoke.

HC stays further proceedings against Jagan in culpable homicide case
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh high court on Tuesday stayed all further proceedings in the case registered against former chief minister and others, concerning the death of one Ch Singaiah. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The court directed the police to file counter affidavits in the quash petitions and posted the matter for further hearing after two weeks. A case of rash and negligent driving causing the death of a person was altered to culpable homicide not amounting to murder by Nallapadu police. This change occurred after a video surfaced showing that Singaiah was mowed down by the car used by Jagan and others while they were going in a rally to Rentapalla. Police included Jagan, his personal assistant Nageswar Reddy, former ministers Perni Nani and Vidadala Rajini, and former TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy as accused in the case. Arguing on behalf of the police, advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas stated that police have collected some material and sought two weeks to file a counter with all details. He mentioned that since the high court has already granted protection from arrest, there is no pressing urgency to hear the petitions. Arguing on behalf of the petitioners, senior counsel S Sriram pressed for hearing of the petition, claiming that the case was registered with mala fide intention. He pointed out that police initially registered the FIR stating that an unknown vehicle caused Singaiah's death, and the district SP also confirmed the same in a press statement. However, the case was altered based on the statement of an eyewitness and a video downloaded from social media. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Sriram further argued that the basis for altering the case to culpable homicide is just a video downloaded from social media, without the presence of third parties as mentioned. He noted that in the age of AI, creating any video in 24 hours is not difficult. He further stated that the state govt intentionally did not provide a rope party, and if any case has to be booked over negligence, it should be booked against the state and the police. Responding to Sriram's arguments, the advocate general said the petitioners have presented their view and sought time to produce additional material to substantiate his arguments. He reiterated that there is no need for any further orders as protection from arrest has already been given. Considering the arguments, Justice K Srinivas Reddy stayed all further proceedings in the case and asked the advocate general to file a counter within two weeks. The advocate general raised objections over the granting of a stay on further proceedings without giving him a fair chance to present his arguments. Justice Srinivas Reddy stated that in a quash petition, it is the discretion of the court to grant interim directions and turned down the objections.
