Bahrain's Ministry of Interior lands silver at Windsor in style l Bahrain's Riders Jump Into the Spotlight
Bahrain's Ministry of Interior showjumping team secured a strong second place at the Windsor Royal Horse Show in the UK, held from May 14 to 18. Going up against 54 top riders from 18 teams, Bahrain's riders showed they can compete with the best on the world stage. The event, first held in 1943, was a favourite of Queen Elizabeth II and is now attended by HM King Charles III at Windsor Castle.
Adding to the occasion's prestige, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH The Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa were all present.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa greets Mr. Abdulla Attiya
Speaking exclusively to TDT, Mr. Abdulla Attiya, President of Bahrain Aquatics, said:
'The Royal Windsor Horse Show 2025 was a wonderful celebration of heritage, tradition, and connection. What stood out most to me was the strong and genuine bond between the Bahrain Royal Family and the British Royal Family, a relationship built on mutual respect and longstanding ties. It was great to see so many people with a connection to Bahrain, whether they've lived or worked there, all coming together for this occasion. His Majesty the King was incredibly gracious, greeting everyone warmly and creating a truly welcoming atmosphere. It was a memorable event that brought people together in a meaningful way.'
It was a sentiment widely echoed by others in attendance — that beyond the silverware, the show stood as a powerful symbol of the deep-rooted friendship between Bahrain and the UK, a bond shaped by tradition, mutual respect, and royal ties that transcend borders and generations.
Praise from the Top
Major General Abdulaziz Mayouf Al Rumaihi, Director General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, hailed the achievement as a product of unwavering support from His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He credited the ongoing success of Bahraini riders to the strategic vision and commitment of His Highness in elevating equestrian sports both locally and globally.
Ministry Support Key to Success
Al Rumaihi also expressed deep appreciation to Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for his continuous backing of the ministry's sports teams, praising the active encouragement of Public Security Chief Lt. General Tariq Al Hassan. Their collective support, he noted, has laid the groundwork for consistent international achievement.
Learning from the Best
Silver mattered, but just being at Windsor was a win in itself. Al Rumaihi highlighted the experience as a crucial opportunity for Bahrain's team to sharpen their competitive edge, learn from the world's top riders, and come back even stronger for future regional and global events.

Bahrain Defeat Slovenian Club 3-1 in Friendly Win
TDT | Manama Bahrain's national football team won over 3-1 Slovenian club NK Sobec Lesce in a friendly match held in Maribor, Slovenia, as part of their overseas training camp. Omar Saber opened the scoring in the 21st minute, before substitute Hussain Abdulkarim doubled the lead in the 61st. Abdulla Al Subaie sealed the result with a late strike in stoppage time. The match was Bahrain's second friendly of the camp, following a 1-3 loss to Croatia's NK Istra 1961. Their final test will be against Slovenian First League side NK Primorje on Tuesday. Usyk Knocks Out Dubois in Fifth to Reclaim Undisputed Title
TDT | Manama Oleksandr Usyk delivered a fifth-round knockout of Britain's Daniel Dubois on Saturday night in London, reclaiming the undisputed heavyweight championship in emphatic style. The Ukrainian star dropped Dubois twice in the fifth, first with an overhand right, then with a devastating left hand that ended the fight at Wembley Stadium. With the win, Usyk retained his WBC, WBA, and WBO titles, and reclaimed the IBF belt he vacated last year. His perfect record now stands at 24-0. Usyk, 38, put on a counter-punching clinic despite giving up size and age, dancing around Dubois and landing at will throughout the early rounds. After the fight, Usyk hinted at a possible third clash with Tyson Fury but said he first plans to rest and spend time with family. Dubois, meanwhile, vowed to return, saying: 'Take no credit away from that man. I'll be back.'
