Sean Kingston's mother sentenced in $1 million South Florida fraud case involving luxury goods and false payments

Janice Turner, the mother of singer Sean Kingston, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison and three years of supervised release for her role in a $1 million wire fraud case. According to CBS Miami, Turner, 63, and Kingston, 35 — whose legal name is Kisean Anderson — were convicted on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Kingston is set to be sentenced on August 28.
During sentencing, Turner expressed remorse, telling the court, 'I'm sorry. My intention was to keep my son afloat in this difficult industry… I am begging for mercy for me and my son.' Her attorney noted that most of the defrauded businesses have been compensated.
The case centered on a 2024 scheme in which Turner and Kingston misrepresented payments to acquire luxury items — including jewelry and vehicles — without actually transferring funds. Investigators confirmed the wire transfers were never completed, yet the duo retained over $1 million in goods and assets.
Kingston was arrested on May 23, 2024, at Fort Irwin, a U.S. Army base in California, while Turner was taken into custody during a raid at a South Florida mansion. The fraud reportedly occurred between October 2023 and March 2024, impacting several entities including Bank of America, First Republic Bank, and various luxury retailers.
At the time of his arrest, Kingston was already serving probation for trafficking stolen property. Turner, meanwhile, had a prior conviction for bank fraud in 2006, for which she served nearly 18 months in prison.
Kingston gained fame in 2007 with his chart-topping single "Beautiful Girls" and later collaborated with Justin Bieber on 'Eenie Meenie.'

Game of Thrones stars Sophie Turner and Kit Harington reunite as lovers in new horror film

Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, best known for playing siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, reunite in the upcoming gothic horror film The Dreadful—but this time, as lovers. In a recent Vogue interview, Turner admitted the romantic scenes felt 'really weird' after portraying siblings for nearly a decade. 'We're doing a gothic horror… but we play lovers,' she said, adding, 'Sorry, guys. It's really weird for all of us.' Set during the 15th-century War of the Roses—a historical conflict that inspired Game of Thrones—The Dreadful follows Anne (Turner), a reclusive woman whose quiet life is disrupted when a man from her past (Harington) reappears, triggering dark events. Turner even suggested Harington for the role, telling The Sunday Times, 'You can't not have Kit.' Their casting adds extra meaning for longtime fans familiar with their on-screen history. Directed by Natasha Kermani (Lucky), The Dreadful also stars Marcia Gay Harden and Laurence O'Fuarain. The film wrapped last year and is expected to release later in 2025.

Joe Jonas, calls Sophie Turner an ‘incredible mom'

Joe Jonas is opening up about life after divorce, and the surprisingly smooth co-parenting dynamic he shares with ex-wife Sophie Turner. Speaking on the School of Greatness podcast, Jonas praised the Game of Thrones star as a key figure in their daughters' lives. 'I have a great co-parenting relationship, which is really important to me,' he said. The singer filed for divorce in September 2023, but says that being a father to Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2, remains his 'greatest joy and journey.' Jonas went on to applaud Turner as a powerful influence on their children, 'My little ones have some incredible women to look up to, including their mom.' While their split began contentiously, Turner even filed a lawsuit over the custody of their children, the pair eventually reached a peaceful agreement. In October 2023, they issued a joint statement announcing a shared custody plan across the U.S. and U.K., calling the mediation process 'productive and successful.' The appreciation between them has continued. In May, Jonas told Jay Shetty, 'Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true.' He also reflected on the values he hopes to instill in his daughters, 'To be open-minded, have a big heart, and feel confident that they can do anything.' From courtroom tension to mutual admiration, Joe and Sophie appear to be setting a new standard for post-divorce parenting. As Jonas put it, watching their daughters grow surrounded by strong role models is more than just fulfilling, it's a dream he's proud to live.
