Delhi Police steps up security on Eid; social media to be monitored too
To maintain law and order during festivities, elaborate deployments have been made in sensitive areas, with the Rapid Action Force (RAF), paramilitary forces, and local police teams mobilised.

Multiple check posts have been set up across Delhi, and electronic surveillance has been intensified to monitor suspicious activity.
A senior police officer said, "Strict vigilance is being maintained across the city. We are closely monitoring social media for any misinformation or attempts to incite communal tension. Action will be taken against violators as per law."

The officer added that open-air animal sacrifices, prayers in public spaces without permission, and the sacrifice of prohibited animals are not allowed during the festival.
"Foot patrolling, drone surveillance in sensitive zones, and enhanced night vigilance are part of our comprehensive safety strategy," the officer added.
The Delhi Traffic Police is also ensuring that there is a smooth flow of traffic and people do not violate norms during celebrations.

To foster communal harmony and coordination, police officials have conducted a series of Aman Committee meetings with local religious leaders and community members in various districts.
In East Delhi, Station House Officer (SHO) Pandav Nagar visited Kotla Idgah and held discussions with local Imams to ensure coordinated crowd management and security arrangements.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania confirmed that such meetings are being held across the city to streamline preparations.
Another senior officer noted, "Delhi Police and community leaders are working hand-in-hand to ensure that the Eid festivities are celebrated in a secure and harmonious environment."

Wheels come off fake auto parts racket
New Delhi: Making a dent in a major counterfeit automobile parts racket operating from Karol Bagh, Delhi Police 's crime branch seized duplicate auto parts and equipment worth over Rs 50 lakh and arrested 11 individuals. The racket involved the manufacture and sale of cheap, inferior products disguised as original equipment manufacturer parts to unsuspecting customers, police said. Based on a tip-off, a police team conducted simultaneous raids on four premises in Karol Bagh and recovered a large quantity of counterfeit auto parts, including brake pads, filters, spark plugs and clutch plates. Forged packaging, stickers, holograms and printing machines were also seized. Around 200 bottles of counterfeit branded engine oils were also found in their possession. The gang's modus operandi involved procuring low-quality counterfeit auto parts from local and regional manufacturers at a fraction of the cost of genuine parts. "They would then rebrand the fake products to resemble those of reputed automobile companies using forged labels, holograms, logos and packaging materials. Dheeraj Singh , the kingpin of the operation, was found to be a commerce graduate with experience in supply chain and inventory control. He engaged in this trade for the last four years and built a network of suppliers and distributors. Besides Dheeraj, the other arrested men were Amit Singh, Dipankar Nagpal, Harsh Kumar, Rinku, Ravinder, Raghvender Singh, Sachin Singh, Vinod Ahuja, Ashish Malhotra and Alok Pruthi.

Mamata unfazed after Delhi police claim video she posted was fabricated
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appeared unfazed on Tuesday (July 29, 2025) in the face of a Delhi Police claim that a video she shared about harassment of migrant workers was fabricated. The CM has urged the migrant family to return to the State. 'They (the woman and her child) were taken to various police stations, just as I had said yesterday. They were threatened. We want them to come back, and whoever is speaking the truth and who is lying will be proved eventually,' Ms. Banerjee said at an event in Birbhum district. The Trinamool Congress chairperson had on July 27 shared a 46 second video on social media where a child is seen. 'Atrocious!! Terrible!! According to the police, the woman who lives in the Malda district of West Bengal made this baseless video and shared it with a relative who is a political worker. Harassment and torture The development comes at a time when hundreds of migrant workers from West Bengal have alleged harassment and torture by police in different states, including Delhi, who suspect that they are Bangladeshi nationals. Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, targeted the Chief Minister and said she should receive 'international awards for spreading misinformation.' Mr. Adhikari warned that more such videos were likely to surface. Seven migrant workers hailing from Harishchandrapur in Malda who were detained in Gurugram, Haryana, on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals have been released and are on their way to their home towns. Hundreds of migrant workers have already returned to the State after being detained in different states. The Trinamool Congress leadership, led by the Chief Minister, has launched a 'language movement' to protest against harassment of Bengali speaking migrants.

Cleanliness must not be limited to VIP zones: Sood
New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta discussed the month-long city-wide cleanliness campaign with ministers and senior civic officials at Civic Centre on Tuesday. The campaign will start from Aug 1. Gupta said, "For the first time, agencies like MCD, PWD, Delhi Police and others are working together in full first two days of the drive will focus on schools, hospitals and offices. Each Saturday and Sunday, efforts will be targeted at unauthorised colonies and JJ clusters. Special clean-up drives are planned at Yamuna ghats on Aug 14, 21 and 28, while the Ring Road will be cleaned on Aug 29 and 31. " She said that Rs 5 crore was allocated to the civic body for this campaign. To encourage community participation, she also announced incentives, including Rs 25 lakh for the best-performing resident welfare association, and Rs 15 lakh and Rs 10 lakh for the second and third positions, respectively.
