Palantir raises annual revenue forecast again on surging AI demand

New York Post11 hours ago
Palantir Technologies on Monday raised its annual revenue forecast for the second time this year, expecting robust demand for its AI-linked services from businesses and governments, sending its shares up 5% in extended trading.
Initially backed by the CIA, the company has capitalized on its expertise in managing and analyzing data to help train and run new artificial intelligence apps using its platforms.
The data analytics and defense software firm projected revenue in the range of $4.14 billion to $4.15 billion for 2025, up from its earlier forecast of between $3.89 billion and $3.90 billion.

The raised forecast is also above analysts' average estimate of $3.90 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.

'Palantir is continuing to exceed increasingly high expectations,' said Gil Luria, an analyst at D.A. Davidson who has a 'neutral' rating on the stock.

'The only way to describe their trajectory is: parabolic.'
Palantir's shares have more than doubled in value this year, far outpacing the 6% gain for the benchmark S&P 500, as investors bet on its ability to benefit from the proliferation of AI technology and government spending on defense tech.
The company, co-founded by tech billionaire Peter Thiel, said it expects revenue derived from U.S. businesses to come in above $1.30 billion, up from its earlier guidance of more than $1.18 billion.
This business is closely watched as Palantir works to cut its reliance on government contracts.

Sales to the US government jumped 53% to $426 million, representing more than 42% of total second-quarter revenue of about $1 billion, which beat estimates. Second-quarter adjusted earnings of 16 cents per share beat estimates of 14 cents.
Shares were up on the news.

'They have accelerants on both sides (commercial and government)' Luria said.
'On the government side, their capabilities have gotten to a point where they can be the lead contractor on increasingly large projects.'

Last week, the US Army said it might purchase services of up to $10 billion from Palantir over a decade.
The company also forecast third-quarter sales above estimates.

Palantir shares jump as soaring AI demand powers forecast upgrade

(Reuters) -Palantir Technologies shares rose 5% before the bell on Tuesday, after strong demand for its AI-powered services across governments and commercial businesses prompted an increase in its annual revenue forecast. Investors have been betting big on the data analytics and defense software company's military-grade artificial intelligence tools and services, which have propelled its shares to more than double in value this year, making them the best performer on the S&P 500 index through last close. "Palantir's staggering growth is showing no signs of slowing... and (its) ability to grow at scale has been underestimated by a large cohort of the market," said Matt Britzman, senior equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown. The company raised its annual revenue forecast for the second time this year and above Wall Street estimates. Sales to the U.S. government jumped 53% to $426 million, representing more than 42% of the total second-quarter revenue of about $1 billion. Last week, the U.S. Army said it might spend up to $10 billion on Palantir's services over the next decade. The Denver, Colorado-based company, co-founded by Peter Thiel, expects expenses to rise significantly in the third quarter due to seasonal hiring amid rising competition among industry leading tech firms to poach top talent, as businesses rapidly look to adopt AI. The stock trades at over 200 times its 12-month forward earnings estimates, compared with AI giant Nvidia's 34.81 and S&P 500's 27.44. Jefferies analysts cautioned that there is a "disconnect between valuation and achievable growth". At least six brokerages raised their price targets on the stock after the results. Palantir Reports Sales Up 48%, Cites ‘Astonishing' AI Impact

(Bloomberg) -- Palantir Technologies Inc. reported a 48% increase in revenue for the second quarter to more than $1 billion, citing the 'astonishing impact' of artificial intelligence technology on its business. PATH Train Service Resumes After Fire at Jersey City Station Mayor Asked to Explain $1.4 Billion of Wasted Johannesburg Funds Chicago Curbs Hiring, Travel to Tackle $1 Billion Budget Hole Seeking Relief From Heat and Smog, Cities Follow the Wind The data software company also raised its revenue outlook for the full year to a range of $4.14 billion to $4.15 billion, exceeding analysts' prior expectation of $3.91 billion. Palantir shares rose about 5% in premarket trading on Tuesday, putting stock on track to hit an all-time high when New York markets open. Denver-based Palantir has seen its stock price surge more than 500% over the past year — buoyed by high expectations from investors, growth in demand for AI tools, and a deep reach into both the private and public sectors. The company's $1 billion revenue in the period ended June 30 exceeded analysts' average estimate of $939 million. Growth was particularly strong in the US, where sales jumped 68% to $733 million, the company said Monday in a statement. Palantir said adjusted earnings per share for the quarter were 16 cents, exceeding analyst expectations of 14 cents. In a letter to shareholders, Chief Executive Officer Alex Karp lingered on the company's at-times tenuous relationship with Wall Street. 'The skeptics are admittedly fewer now, having been defanged and bent into a kind of submission,' he wrote. He also said that AI breakthroughs had helped fuel Palantir's growth, pointing to the development of large language models and the chips required to power them. Going forward, Karp said that Palantir planned to be the 'dominant software company of the future,' and added, 'the market is now waking up to this reality.' The company's US government revenue climbed 53% in the quarter to hit $426 million. Meanwhile, its revenue from commercial contracts in the US climbed even quicker, rising 93% for the year to hit $306 million. The 'outperformance' in Palantir's US commercial business is a key indicator of robust demand, particularly for the company's AI products, Jordan Berger, an analyst at Third Bridge, said in a note. 'We continue to hear from experts that Palantir maintains unique market positioning for monetizing AI technology amid a noisy, crowded, and hype-laden market, and the company's Q2 2025 performance further validates that sentiment,' Berger said. Palantir has long played a role as a key US government contractor, working with both the US military, those of allied countries like Ukraine, and partnering with new defense tech startups. The company solidified its relationship with the Pentagon during the quarter, striking new deals with the US Space Force and US Army, executives said during a conference call after the results. Palantir also consolidated 15 prime contracts and 60 related contracts with the Army into one single deal — a 10-year, $10 billion arrangement. While the agreement was designed to cut costs for the government and didn't boost the company's bottom line, it could provide a template for future federal deals, analysts said. In his letter to shareholders, Karp emphasized Palantir's commitment to defense tech, writing that the US is 'the most consequential country in the West,' and adding, 'it must be protected.' Karp ended the call with a message to retail investors, thanking them for their support and urging them to be kinder to analysts who doubted Palantir. 'Stop talking to all the haters. They're suffering,' he said. (Updates with premarket shares in the third paragraph.)
