Corrie star reveals how long Debbie will be around for amid dementia story
Coronation Street star Sue Devaney has confirmed that Debbie Webster will still be on our screens for some time yet, following her dementia diagnosis.
Viewers first noticed that something was wrong when Debbie began forgetting dates and muddling up appointments.
Things got more serious when she began to suffer random blackouts.
The character saw a doctor about her symptoms earlier this year and was informed that she had young-onset dementia.
The show icon was understandably shaken by the news, and chose to keep it a secret from her family for a number of weeks.
'She wants to keep it to herself for as long as possible,' actress Sue Devaney explained on Lorraine.
'She's going, 'I've been diagnosed with this, so how am I going to cope with it? I'll find out how I cope with it and then I'll tell my family.' She's gone about it that way.'
Debbie has been so determined to keep her secret that she even went so far as to dump boyfriend Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), as she didn't want him to end up caring for her.
In upcoming scenes, Debbie will finally reveal all as her storyline continues.
Though fans were worried that Debbie would be killed off in the coming months, Sue has set minds at rest by confirming that this isn't the case at all. More Trending
Speaking to Lorraine, she said: 'We wanted to do the diagnosis and get that sorted and then do the journey of living with dementia…
'She's not going anywhere yet! I know the story is going to go on well into 2027, so Debbie's not going anywhere.'

Superman star earned $1,250,000 less than highest paid member of cast
Everyone knows you shouldn't ask your colleagues what they're getting paid. However, the new Superman, David Corenswet, might want to ask his agent why he earned 1,250,000 less than his co-star Nicholas Hoult. Yes, despite playing the title character and arguably the world's most popular superhero, it turns out that David, 31, didn't earn as much as you might expect for leading a film like Superman. According to a new report from Puck, David and his onscreen love interest Rachel Brosnahan only earned a relatively meagre $750,000 for their work. The former Skins star, however, earned a much more impressive $2,000,000 for playing the vile Lex Luthor, which makes him the highest paid member of the cast. That may sound unfair, but there's method in the madness. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video While David and Rachel are stars in their own right – especially Rachel, who led her own TV show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Prime Video – both actors lacked the big screen experience. Nicholas, meanwhile,e who's starred in critically acclaimed flicks like Mad Max: Fury Road and Nosferatu alongside bigger franchise fare like X-Men, was able to negotiate a higher wage. Before you start shouting about how unfair this is, though, be aware that all three actors are in line for more money if the film performs at the box office. That means if you think David and Rachel deserve a bit more cash in their pocket, you ned to head to the cinema and see Superman. And why would you go see Superman? The film has been a critical and commercial hit. At the time of writing, Superman has an impressive 82% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and an even healthier audience score of 93%. Those are some pretty impressive numbers, and it's translating to box office success. The following figures are US only and unadjusted for inflation. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – $330,360,194 Man of Steel – $291,045,518 Superman Returns – $200,081,192 Superman – $134,218,018 Superman II -$108,185,706 Superman III -$59,950,623 Superman IV: The Quest For Peace – $15,681,020 The film, which is directed by James Gunn, is on track to become the second-biggest Superman movie ever. More Trending Recent Deadline reports suggest it's earned $123 million in its opening weekend in the US. Once you factor in foreign film markets it's expected that Superman will have brought in $210 million worldwide. Now that may sound like a lot, but with The Wall Street Journal reporting that Superman had a $225 million budget not including marketing costs (which can double the cost of making a movie), the film hasn't quite turned a profit just yet. Still with numbers this good and little in the way of blockbuster competition until the release of Fantastic Four: First Steps it looks like Superman has saved the day… for the accountants at Warner Bros. ITV Emmerdale fans call for 'tedious' storyline to end
Those who watch the ITV soap have been discussing the plot surrounding Joe Tate and the recently returned Dr Crowley. The pair has a previous history together as part of Joe's previous kidney transplant story. Now, the doctor, played by James Hillier, has returned to seek revenge. A post shared by Emmerdale (@emmerdale) James Hillier's character last appeared on the ITV soap back in March. Joe was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and hired the shady doctor to treat him and secure him a kidney transplant. After Joe's paternal half-uncle, Caleb Miligan, was found to be a donor match, his kidney was taken after he was stabbed. Following this, Dr Crowley transplanted it into Joe before fleeing the country, and that was the last heard from him... until now. Having returned to the soap this week, Joe was knocked unconscious and woke up in a makeshift hospital room to find Crowley. He revealed that he gave Joe an epidural and "numbed the lower spine, along with the upper, near the base of the skull", meaning Joe was left paralysed. It was revealed that Shaun, who arrived with Joe's laptop, had been secretly working for Crowley. Despite originally refusing, following the threat of torture, Joe reveals the passwords and Shaun transfers £105,000 to Crowley's account. Following Dr Crowley's return on the ITV show, fans have been discussing the ongoing storyline, and some are not impressed. It's that time again… the Inside Soap Awards 2025 are here - and the Village needs you! 💚 If you've loved the drama, cast your votes and show Emmerdale your support! 👉 Vote here: A post was made on the r/Emmerdale Reddit page, saying: "Ok Emmerdale, it's time to wrap up this Joe Tate Dr storyline, it's getting very boring...." Some fans on the thread agreed, with one saying: "Joe and the stories around him are so badly written and acted. So..... well, mind-numbingly tedious to sit through." Another said: "Yeah and I agree with you." Others have taken to social media to also criticise the story, with one fan saying: "I love Emmerdale I do but this is a bit extreme this storyline." Recommended reading: Others, however, are enjoying it, with one saying: "I'm loving seeing the Dr make Joe's life hell." A second said: "There is a part of me that loves this story because it's so wonderfully soapy." Emmerdale is available to watch live and on demand via ITV and ITVX.

Ncuti Gatwa teases Doctor Who return but admits show 'took a lot out of him'
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Fans have been in shock since Ncuti Gatwa's exit from the long-running BBC series Doctor Who, but regenerating doesn't mean it's the end. The (baffling) choice to have the Sex Education star transform into Billie Piper was met with a mixed response, including 'nostalgia bait' accusations. Many expressed wishes that Ncuti, 32, had been able to stay for longer and now, while speaking on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, he has given a glimmer of hope. 'Never say never,' he teased when asked if he would ever return, grinning wider and wider as the question hung in the air. Laura suggested that was a disguised yes 'with the right script', prompting laughter from the Barbie star. Ncuti's 14th Doctor regenerated in May, marking the end of his tenure, which began with a historic 60-year anniversary episode alongside David Tennant. When asked why he walked away after just two (short) seasons, Ncuti explained: 'Because I'm getting old. My body was tired.' This prompted scoffs from the BBC reporter but the star continued: 'It's the most amazing job in the world. It's a job that any actor would dream of and because it's so good it's strenuous. 'It takes a lot out of you, physically, emotionally, mentally. So, it was time.' The finale was met with a lot of controversy as fans complained about the treatment of the Doctor's companions. A number of fans aren't happy with how Belinda (Varada Sethu) was treated with some going so far as to say her character was 'butchered'. The episode saw her entire life rewritten 'without her consent', landing her with a child and a husband at the end, which was never part of her plot in the lead up. Other complaints included the 'confusing' plot surrounding Classic Who villain The Rani and Omega as well as the Billie Piper return. Billie, 42, is not thought to be an iteration of The Doctor but previously played companion Rose Tyler during Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant's original runs. While disgruntled fans voice their opinions and optimistic theories, Ncuti has launched himself into other projects, including ballet and life on the stage. Ncuti has (temporarily) moved away from television and just completed a successful run in the National Theatre's Importance of Being Earnest. He is now performing in West End play Born With Teeth, a reimagining of the rivalry between Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare. More Trending In the play, he reunites with Sex Education co-star Edward Bluemel, 32, who recently appeared in the axed show My Lady Jane as well as Killing Eve. In the chat with Laura, Ncuti said he was 'very busy' of late, which had also prompted his decision to step down from his involvement with Eurovision. 'It all panned out very interestingly,' he shared. 'I pulled out of it a long time before it was announced. 'And it was announced when it was announced, I don't know why, but I was just very busy. I just had a lot of work schedules, a lot of press around The Roses, around the Doctor.' Got a story?
