A DELEGATION of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources, headed by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, during a recent study tour to Karnataka held discussions on water management inside national parks, tiger reserves and sanctuaries. Rudy, who is also a member of the National Tiger Conservation Authority, had recently suggested updating the water atlas of tiger reserves, in a meeting of the authority. In this backdrop, Rudy and the other committee members held meetings in Bandipur with representatives of central and state water resources departments. The MP also participated in a meeting of field directors of the southern region at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
Protest In Solidarity
THE CONGRESS leadership in poll-bound Bihar has been directed to take 'active part' in the upcoming protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, in Patna on June 29. The demonstration is being steered by Muslim organisation 'Imarat Shariah' and is likely to see participation from all INDIA bloc parties, including the RJD and Left Front. Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar Ram on Sunday evening met the president of Imarat Shariah, Faisal Rahmani, and discussed the protest plan. The state Congress leaders have also been told to mobilise people from Dalit and OBC communities to take part in the protest and show support to the minority community against the legislation.

MINISTER OF State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying S P Singh Baghel Saturday planted 65 saplings, distributed sarees to 65 women and handed out helmets to 65 youths on the occasion of his 65th birthday (June 21). The Minister participated in various celebratory events in his constituency Agra. He received birthday greetings from several dignitaries, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM, in his message, praised Baghel's dedicated service, calling it an 'inspiration for the new generation'.

Students & parents advised to be careful during admission season
With the admission season having started, several parents across Maharashtra are finding themselves caught in a web of fraudulent agents promising guaranteed seats in prestigious professional colleges under the management quota. In the past two months alone, at least three to four such cases have occurred raising concerns over the transparency of the admission process in private and deemed universities. Many students with average academic marks, along with their parents, attempt to secure seats in reputed institutions through alternative routes. (HT) Despite recent amendments to the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, which mandate a transparent admission process for management quota seats in professional courses such as engineering, pharmacy, MBA, MCA, and architecture, the situation on the ground is anything but. While affiliated colleges are required to follow stricter norms, private and deemed universities have been granted complete autonomy which grants agents access to thrive. A parent told Hindustan Times on condition of anonymity, 'I came across an agent through a Prime Shiksha advertisement on social media. When I contacted them, they asked me to visit their office at Agarwal Business Park in Kharadi. The agent's name was Deepak Agarwal, and two others Vineet and Shivam Sharma. They initially asked ₹ 13 lakh for admission to engineering at PICT through the NRI and institute quota. After some discussion, the deal was fixed at ₹ 12 lakh. We even visited the college and filled out a form and I paid them ₹ 12 lakh. They told us that the college would send an admission confirmation through email. However, when I tried to contact them the next day, their phones were switched off, and the office was locked. My son scored 92% which is quite good. I want to warn other parents; please don't fall for such agents.' Responding to this, Kalpesh Yadav, joint secretary of Yuva Sena, said, 'The criteria for management quota admissions is that they should be carried out based on merit. Last year, we successfully completed the admission of 383 students purely on merit, without taking a single rupee and we are also raising voice against it.' Cities like Pune and Nashik, which host some of the state's top institutions, are witnessing a surge in demand for management quota seats. Many students with average academic marks, along with their parents, attempt to secure seats in reputed institutions through alternative routes. In doing so, they often rely on admission agents, many of whom turn out to be fraudsters. In Pune, at least three to four such fraud cases have surfaced in the last year, with parents reportedly losing lakhs of rupees. The agents exploit the urgency and emotional vulnerability of families keen on securing their child's academic future. As a result, many institutes and government officials are urging families to avoid falling for promises of guaranteed admissions. Several institutions have started issuing public advisories, warning against dealing with unverified agents. To address the rising number of complaints, support groups such as the Innovation Foundation and Yuva Sena have set up helplines for students and parents facing admission-related issues. 'Last year, we helped several students who had been defrauded by these agents. This year, too, our helpline is open to assist anyone in need,' said Kalpesh Yadav, joint secretary of Yuva Sena. Congress gears up for show of strength on July 4
Hyderabad: The Congress party has geared up for a public meeting to be held in the city on July 4, in which AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge will attend as the chief guest. The party leadership will be highlighting this as a show of strength and unity. It also aims to mobilise public support for the upcoming local body polls and the Jubilee Hills bypoll, besides GHMC polls. The public meeting, which is part of the ongoing Congress campaign 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bheem, Jai Samvidhaan', will be attended by about 15,000, mostly party men. The PCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud has asked all the leaders, including village level presidents to make this a success. 'Jai Samvidhan program will emphasise the protection of the Constitution. Key leaders of all constituencies across the state should participate in the meeting and make it a success,' said Mahesh Goud during the preparatory meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday. The meeting which was presided over by city in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, also reviewed the party's strength in the city and preparedness for the GHMC polls. It was attended by Rajya Sabha MP M Anil Kumar Yadav, MLA Danam Nagender, MLCs Amir Ali Khan, Balmoor Venkat, PCC working presidents Anjan Kumar Yadav, Mohammad Azharuddin, Corporation chairmen and contested MLA candidates, corporators and other key functionaries. While the public meeting will be held during the evening hours, a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) has also been scheduled on the same day at Gandhi Bhavan prior to the public meeting at L B Stadium.

KTR slams Shah for inaction over Cong's corruption allegations
Hyderabad: In a scathing attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao has demanded to know why the BJP-led Centre has failed to order an investigation into the corruption allegations against the Congress government in Telangana. Reminding Shah of his own earlier remarks in Nizamabad—where he labelled the Revanth Reddy-led government an 'ATM' for the Congress high command— Rama Rao questioned, 'Why hasn't the Union Home Minister acted upon it? What is stopping the Centre from initiating a probe through the CBI or ED?' Alleging a covert understanding between the BJP and Congress, KTR stated, 'In Delhi, they stage a mock fight. In Telangana, they strike secret deals. Is BJP shielding Revanth Reddy because it cannot take on BRS alone?' He recalled that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had once accused the Congress of running a 'RR Tax' scam in Telangana, yet no investigation was initiated. 'If you only make allegations during visits but allow Congress to loot in broad daylight, what message are you sending to the people?' he asked. The BRS leader also took strong exception to what he described as an orchestrated campaign to defame the Kaleshwaram Project, a landmark irrigation initiative that he said played a pivotal role in making Telangana the top rice-producing state in the country. 'It is unfortunate that a landmark initiative like Kaleshwaram is being targeted purely for political gain,' he said. On the BJP's developmental record in the state, KTR noted, 'Despite having eight BJP MPs and two Union Ministers from Telangana, not a single project has been given national status. No IIT, IIM, or central medical institute has been granted. This discrimination has not gone unnoticed.' He also ridiculed the Centre's repeated 'launches' of the Turmeric Board, pointing out that Union Minister Piyush Goyal had already virtually inaugurated it earlier this year. 'Now Amit Shah is cutting ribbons for the same office set up in a building constructed by former CM KCR. Not a single rupee was allocated in the budget. Even a permanent building has not been sanctioned,' he said. KTR further accused the BJP of betraying Telangana through multiple actions, including scrapping the Bayyaram Steel Plant—meant to provide employment to tribal youth—cancelling Hyderabad's ITIR project, which would have been a game-changer, and pushing forward Andhra Pradesh's Banakacharla project while curbing Telangana farmers' water rights. He also cited the privatisation of operations at the Kazipet Coach Factory, thereby dashing youth employment hopes in Warangal. 'Since coming to power at the Centre, BJP has treated Telangana with hostility. The people have rejected them before and will continue to do so,' said KTR.
