Egor Demin celebrates his Brooklyn Nets drafting with girlfriend
After he was picked by the Brooklyn Nets, Egor Demin smiled, hugged his family, and stood proudly on stage. His girlfriend, Delaney Gibb, also accompanied him. This selection in the NBA marked a major achievement in his life.
Gibb was there to support him at the event and later shared a celebratory story on her Instagram with the caption: "Go Nets!!"
At the post-event interview, Egor Demin thanked his coaches and family members.
He said that he's excited to join the Brooklyn Nets and ready to work hard.
He further said:
"Obviously, for me, it's a great opportunity to be in a team where I will be able to develop myself and also impact the game. That's (Nets) a historical club, a historical organization, and obviously it is related to Russia in the past ... and it's an honor for me to be a part of that.'
Delaney Gibb also shared her thoughts as she said:
'He's obviously a great basketball player, but he's an even better person, and so I really think wherever he goes, he's going to be great.
I may be biased. I may think he's going to go higher than other people but honestly I'm just excited to see where he goes.'
On the other hand, after the event ended, player Travis Hansen took to X and praised Egor.
He wrote:
'Still doesn't feel real… Egor just got drafted to the NBA. Proud doesn't even begin to cover it. He's put in the work, stayed humble, and now it's his moment. Grateful…'
Egor Demin had come a long way. The ex-Real Madrid standout joined BYU last season and made a strong impression in his lone year with the Cougars. He had an average of 10.6 points and 5.5 assists per game, helping lead the team to the Sweet 16, where they were unfortunately defeated by second-seeded Alabama.

Wimbledon: Smelling of teen spirit ahead of the championships
WIMBLEDON: It's the weekend before the Monday start to the most famous tennis championships in the world. A sense of quiet efficiency pervades the grounds: everything is in place. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The landscaping has been perfected so that the combination of purple flowers and green creepers reflecting Wimbledon's iconic colours are in the right blush even as an Indian summer heat beats down on everything. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. As players and their entourages -- mostly in pristine white though some outliers are kitted out in all black -- go from practice courts to the locker room and back, all around are the young, strapping boys and girls, and their even younger and more famous counterparts: ball boys and girls. Fondly called the BBGs, and decked out in the famous Ralph Lauren outfits (which in the official merchandise stores retail for an eye watering price), they are the overwhelming presence at the championships. Hundreds of young people work the summer here manning everything from front desks to the merchandise stores and hospitality venues to the grounds. Chattering away in groups; going through the drills rolling out and rolling in the covers at the uncovered outside courts; practicing laying the net posts and measuring the height of the nets, they bring a vibrant, youthful energy to a tournament where the biggest stars are barely out of their teens themselves. Watched by millions worldwide, during the live transmission of the championships, the BBGs all make it look effortless but behind the scenes go through rigorous training. Getting to be a coveted BBG is a highly competitive affair. Only 250 make the cut from the 1000 who apply from the local schools and institutions. About 170 of the 250 are chosen from the 9th and 10th grade kids who freshly apply and the rest 80 roll over from the previous year. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Average age is 15. Many spend two years on the job. Ubiquitous as they may seem, girls were inducted only in 1977 and made their Centre Court appearance in 1985. On Saturday, the most prized fixtures are to see defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner practice. Conveniently they are at two ends of the day. Morning sees Alcaraz hit the ball with the next big thing, the 18-year-old Brazilian star Joao Fonseca, at the red-velvet roped enclosures of Aorangi Practice Courts. Sinner comes out in the evening. India's Day 2 at the Nets in Edgbaston | IND vs ENG Test Series Spanish is in the air as Alcaraz and Fonseca banter as they go through drilling their forehands/backhands, lobs and service to an awed audience. Jaun Carlos Ferrer, Alcazar's coach and Guilherme Teixeira, who trains Fonseca, keep a watchful eye. "I was excited about hitting with him, the last time I hit with him was in 2023," Alcaraz said of hitting with Fonseca, later at a presser. "He's not an experienced player on grass, but his style, he loves to play aggressive, to hit big forehands, go to the net. I'm pretty sure he's going to get the level on grass really, really soon," he added. One can't but help notice the difference in resources as your eye is drawn to two women players slugging it out in the very next court. They just have one coach each while the Alcaraz court has an entourage of 7/8 people. Adjacent, at the Aorangi arena, are other players mainly doing strength and mobility workouts. There's Coco Gauf using cones to get her footwork going, Zverev using bands and a few others work with medicine balls. 'Movement' is a word one hears often. Alcaraz talks about it and so does Sinner in their press conferences later in the day. It feels surreal at times to walk around the grounds and discover the gorgeous person ahead of you with her trainer is Emma Raducanu or the wavy-haired blonde young man is Alexander Zverev. Young kids with giant tennis balls have the best chance of snagging the coveted autograph as it's hard for the players to say no to tiny tots. So, every two steps they have to stop to pose for a selfie with the grown-ups or bend down to sign autographs for the children.

Dewald Brevis (Photo by) South Africa's cricket team, fresh from their World Test Championship victory, has returned to Test cricket against Zimbabwe at Queen Sports Club in Bulawayo, where two debutants made history. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The Test match, which falls outside the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, saw several regular South African players absent, creating opportunities for new talent to emerge. The team's decision to blood young players proved fruitful as both debutants delivered remarkable performances. Dewald Brevis, known for his association with Chennai Super Kings , demonstrated his aggressive batting style by scoring 51 runs off just 41 balls. His innings included three fours and four sixes, with his half-century coming in 38 balls, establishing a new record for the fastest fifty in a debut Test innings. India's Day 2 at the Nets in Edgbaston | IND vs ENG Test Series The significance of Brevis's achievement becomes apparent when compared to previous records. While New Zealand's Tim Southee had scored a 29-ball fifty and England's Jacob Bethell achieved a 37-ball fifty on their debuts, both these performances came in their second innings. Brevis's record stands unique as it was accomplished in his first Test innings. The South African innings faced early trouble when the team lost their first four wickets for just 55 runs. However, Brevis and Pretorius formed a crucial 95-run partnership for the fifth wicket, steering their team away from difficulty. Quiz: Who's that IPL player? Lhuan-dre Pretorius's achievement holds particular significance in South African cricket history. At 19 years and 93 days, he surpassed the long-standing record held by Graeme Pollock, who had scored his century against Australia in 1964 at 19 years and 317 days. The partnership between Brevis and Pretorius not only rescued South Africa from a precarious position but also showcased the depth of young talent in South African cricket. Their performance demonstrated the potential benefits of giving opportunities to young players in international cricket. Jasprit Bumrah: India's Spearhead Locked In for 2nd Test? The timing of these achievements gains additional context considering South Africa's recent World Test Championship victory. While this match against Zimbabwe doesn't contribute to the WTC 2025-27 cycle, it has provided a platform for emerging talents to make their mark in international cricket. The absence of regular team members, while potentially seen as a limitation, has opened doors for these young cricketers to showcase their abilities at the highest level. The success of both debutants validates South Africa's strategy of nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities in international cricket. The historic achievements by both Brevis and Pretorius at the Queen Sports Club have added a significant chapter to South African cricket history, particularly in the context of Test cricket debuts and age-related records. Their performances have set new benchmarks for future generations of South African cricketers. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.

IND vs ENG Test: 'We never gave India...' - England wicketkeeper reveals team's strategy at Headingley
England's Joe Root, left, and batting partner Jamie Smith leave the field after their win on day five of the first cricket test match against India at Headingley in Leeds, England, Tuesday, June 24, 2025. (AP Photo/Scott Heppell) England wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith has revealed England's strategy after their stunning five-wicket win over India in Leeds. England are leading the five-match series 1-0. 'It was so measured and controlled throughout that we never gave them (India) a sniff. The really important thing is for the team to be quite ruthless: once you're on top, try to put them to bed,' the 24-year-old, who hit the winning runs at Headingley, was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. The second match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy will be played at Edgbaston, starting from July 2. India Sweat it out at the Nets in Birmingham Ahead of the 2nd Test vs England Talking about the batting philosophy of England's batting, Smith said: 'By keeping a core group of people throughout that cycle, what's happened is they've matured and learned and almost pushed their limits of what they can do.' 'We've seen some really special stuff over the course of the three years – 500 in a day and chasing down these totals has been incredibly pleasing and special for those guys, showing what can be done. This was a great example of where the team have got to, that we didn't give India a chance. 'Maybe in the past we would have still played that same way, but might have had a collapse that gave them a chance or a little in. But it was so measured and controlled throughout that we never gave them a sniff. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending Local Enterprise Accounting Software [Click Here] Accounting ERP Click Here Undo The really important thing is for the team to be quite ruthless: once you're on top, try to put them to bed.' Smith has been a pivotal part of England's batting line-up since they moved on from Jonny Bairstow and Ben Foakes. The youngster has already amassed 725 runs in 18 Test innings at a 73.08 strike rate, including a century and four fifties. Arshdeep vs Morkel: WWE at the Nets! | Team India's Lighter Moment in Birmingham The youngster dived deep about Bazball's philosophy and said it is not only about hitting sixes and boundaries. 'That's the impact of what this side's done, it's allowed the easy singles to go unnoticed because it feels like we're scoring so fast,' said Smith. 'But because the men are already out on the boundary, people are able to get off strike and that keeps the rate flowing. It's obviously nice to hit a few sixes rather than the ones, but you're just playing what's in front of you and thankfully at the minute, it seems to be coming off. 'Something that definitely took my game to the next level was having that belief from other people and that transfers on to you, especially when you're out there batting,' he added.
