Fazl wants ‘political change' in KP
Speaking at a news conference here on Saturday, JUI-F chief stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is suffering from insecurity, Sindh is under the control of criminals, and Balochistan is facing terrorism, while the rulers are extorting armed groups. How terrorism could be eradicated from the country; emphasising that this is a matter to ponder over now, Fazl questioned.
The party chief suggested that change should come to the province, specifically from within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in KP. He claimed that during JUI-F's government, there was complete peace and order in the province; and any decision regarding change in KP would be made after consultation within the party. The JUI-F chief remarked that the KP government's majority is 'fake' and that the province cannot afford political turmoil.
Terming the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) as a wrong decision made without consultation, Fazl called for the reversal of this constitutional amendment in the national interest. He urged political parties to acknowledge that the FATA merger was a mistake. He suggested that those responsible should acknowledge their lack of political insight.
Regarding the Senate elections, he said: 'I cannot comment on any adjustment yet, but future plans would be decided after consultations with jirgas, and all decisions would involve the consultation of FATA tribes. A grand jirga of FATA tribes is scheduled for tomorrow, he added. He said that whether the government regretted its actions or if it is merely a strategy to exploit FATA's natural resources.
Fazl said, 'If I was satisfied with the federal government's performance, I would be part of it, but since assemblies have been bought, I cannot be part of corrupt government.' He further stated that differences among political parties are common, but they should not turn into personal enmities.
He said that JUI-F would not recognise armed groups, suggesting that PTI could hold talks if it changes its attitude. He shared that young PTI workers visit him, sit with him, and ask him questions.
To a question, he said he could not comment on seat adjustments regarding the Senate.
Urging acceptance of the public's decision, Fazl said, 'The JUI-F will not come to power relying on anyone. If the JUI-F-led government comes to power, corruption and extortion will end.
Talking about the PTI protests movement, the JUI chief said that the protest movement should be for a greater cause, not merely for the release of any individual.
Fazl added that if any issues arise with the Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP), they would sit together to resolve them, and an All-Parties Conference (APC) should be convened to address law and order concerns.

3 PTI lawmakers disqualified over convictions in May 9 cases
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified three Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers over their conviction in the May 9 riot cases, Aaj News reported. In a notification issued on Monday, the ECP confirmed the disqualification of Senator Ijaz Chaudhry, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar and MNA Ahmed Chattha, and declared their seats vacant. The ECP stated that an anti-terrorism court has found Ijaz Chaudhry guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in prison, resulting in the disqualification of Chaudhry under Article 63(1)(H) of the Constitution, the notification added. The election watchdog also disqualified PTI Member of National Assembly from NA-66 Wazirabad, Ahmed Chattha, and Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly, Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar, who was elected from PP-87 Mianwali. According to the Election Commission, a disqualification notification of both members has been issued following the decision of the anti-terrorism court. 'The anti-terrorism court found Ahmed Chattha and Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar guilty and sentenced them to 10 years in prison, the ECP said. Following the notification, the three seats have now become vacant, and a by-election will be held for these seats. It should be noted that anti-terrorism courts recently handed down 10-year prison sentences to PTI leaders involved in the May 9 incidents.

However, Imtiaz persisted with his objection, leading to his suspension for 15 sittings as well. After completing the agenda items, Acting Speaker Channer adjourned the House until 2 pm on July 29. As lawmakers from both sides entered the media hall, another scuffle broke out. However, no physical attacks were reported this time. Outside the assembly chambers, some private members were reported to have shouted and used abusive language against PTI lawmakers. The opposition condemned the actions of the private members, calling them "hooliganism" and stating that they would not bow down to fascism and cruelty despite being cornered.

ECP disqualifies three PTI lawmakers following ATC verdict in May 9 case

In a notification issued Monday, the ECP confirmed the disqualification of Chaudhry, MNA Muhammad Ahmad Chattha, and Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Ahmad Khan Bhachar. All three were handed 10-year prison sentences under anti-terrorism charges. Senator Chaudhry was found guilty by an anti-terrorism court and is no longer eligible to remain a member of the Senate under Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution, the ECP said. 'The anti-terrorism court has declared Ejaz Chaudhry guilty and sentenced him to ten years,' the notification stated. The court, which had completed final arguments from both the defence and prosecution, reserved its decision before announcing the ruling. The verdict stated that the ATC acquitted Qureshi, Azeem, and four other accused due to insufficient evidence. However, the court found 10 others guilty and handed down 10-year prison sentences for their role in the violence that followed the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan. May 9 Riots The May 9 riots erupted nationwide following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan, after which PTI leaders and workers staged protests targeting both civil and military installations, including Jinnah House and the GHQ in Rawalpindi. The military condemned the events as a "Black Day" and decided to try the protesters under the Army Act. As a result of the unrest, many PTI members were arrested and tried in military courts. In December, a military court convicted 25 individuals, including Imran Khan's nephew, Hassan Khan Niazi, and later sentenced 60 more. In January, 19 convicts had their sentences pardoned following successful mercy appeals, although PTI expressed dissatisfaction over the limited number of pardons. The military trials had initially been halted following a Supreme Court ruling but were resumed following the court's instructions to finalise pending cases and announce judgments for those involved in the violent incidents.
