The Prep
All you need is ash gourd, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Peel and chop fresh ash gourd, blend it with a little water, and strain the clear juice. Add a dash of lemon juice and a pinch of salt. The result is a cooling, gut-friendly drink that's quick to make and easy on the stomach.
Soha shared that she's been drinking this on an empty stomach every morning for the past three months. 'It's detoxifying, cooling, and great for my gut,' she wrote in her caption.
She also offered one essential tip: always taste a small piece of the ash gourd before use: 'If it tastes bitter, discard the whole thing. Only fresh, ripe, non-bitter ash gourd from a trusted source should be used.
Why it works
This simple, three-ingredient drink packs a powerful wellness punch with its cooling, hydrating, and gut-friendly properties. It helps flush out toxins, supports digestion, and is often recommended in Ayurveda for its calming effect on the body. Whether you're looking to beat the heat, reset your gut, or simply start your day on a healthy note, Soha's morning ritual offers a gentle, nourishing boost.
Dr Komal Malik, Head Dietetics at Asian Hospital, Faridabad, says, 'It is packed with vitamins A, C, and E, antioxidants, and dietary fibre, which support digestion, immunity, and detoxification. Its low-calorie, high-fibre profile makes it ideal for weight watchers and diabetics. Regular consumption may also promote clearer skin and a calming effect on stress and anxiety.'
Adding to that, Dr Anjana Kalia, Ayurvedic Doctor and Nutritionist at Bloom Clinix, notes, 'It helps regulate body temperature and eases heat-related issues like acidity and skin rashes. Supports liver and stomach cleansing, aiding overall detoxification and also supports kidney health and may reduce the risk of kidney stones. However, moderation is key. Always consume it fresh and unsweetened, and consult a healthcare provider before including it in your routine if you have underlying health conditions.'

Prevent Early Greys Naturally With This DIY Curry Leaves & Coconut Oil Hair Elixir

Premature greying of hair is increasingly affecting individuals in their 20s and 30s, often driven by stress, poor nutrition, genetics, or environmental stressors. While many commercial hair products and dyes offer quick results, their chemical components may lead to long-term damage. As a result, more people are returning to traditional, natural remedies—and one such powerful solution lies in a simple kitchen formula: curry leaves infused in coconut oil. Rooted in Ayurvedic tradition and passed down through generations in Indian households, this homemade oil is cherished for its ability to preserve natural hair colour and boost overall hair health. Curry leaves are rich in antioxidants, iron, and B vitamins—nutrients vital for restoring melanin, the pigment responsible for hair's natural colour. When combined with the nourishing qualities of coconut oil, this duo creates a potent remedy that strengthens hair follicles, improves scalp circulation, and supports hair growth. Why Curry Leaves Work Curry leaves are more than just a cooking ingredient. They contain essential nutrients like amino acids, antioxidants, and B-complex vitamins that help prevent premature greying by restoring melanin levels in the hair. Regular use can also reduce hair fall and strengthen roots. The Role of Coconut Oil Coconut oil acts as a natural carrier that penetrates deep into the scalp, delivering the benefits of curry leaves more effectively. It moisturises dry hair, promotes growth, and nourishes the scalp from within, helping to create a healthier environment for hair pigmentation. DIY Recipe: Curry Leaves and Coconut Oil Ingredients: • 1 cup fresh curry leaves • 1 cup coconut oil Instructions: 1. Rinse the curry leaves thoroughly and let them air-dry completely to eliminate moisture. 2. Heat the coconut oil in a pan over low to medium flame. 3. Add the dried curry leaves and let them simmer in the oil for 10–15 minutes. Stir occasionally to avoid burning. 4. Once the leaves turn crisp and the oil is infused, switch off the heat and let it cool. 5. Strain the oil to remove the leaves and store it in a clean, airtight container. How to Use It Massage the oil gently onto your scalp and hair, working from roots to ends. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes, or for best results, overnight. Rinse off with a mild shampoo followed by conditioner. Use this oil two to three times a week for visible improvement over time. This simple yet effective remedy not only nourishes your hair but also reconnects you with age-old wellness wisdom—one drop at a time.

‘Let's get the skin ready': As Malaika Arora shares her pre-makeup ritual, a dermatologist breaks down her routine

A snatched face is built on the foundation of a consistent and stable skincare routine and Malaika Arora understands that well. In a recent Instagram video, the Bollywood diva walked us through her pre-makeup skincare, captioning the post, 'Let's get the skin ready.' Here's a step-by-step breakdown of her routine: Facial oil application followed by a jade roller massage Gua Sha facial massage Under-eye patches Oil or moisturizer is applied to the neck Lip balm for hydration Dr Harsimran Kaur, Consultant Dermatologist and Medical Advisor at Kaya Limited, broke down Malaika's skincare routine and helped us understand the value of each step and its benefits. The use of facial oil helps lock in moisture and gives the skin a healthy, dewy finish. However, it's important to opt for non-comedogenic oils like squalene or rosehip to avoid clogged pores. 'Richer oils like coconut or palm oil, though nourishing, can be comedogenic and may trigger breakouts. For maximum comfort under makeup, a thinner oil is ideal,' said Dr Kaur. Although cleansing wasn't shown in the video, it's a crucial first step to remove impurities and allow for better product absorption. Ideally, a lightweight hydrating serum or moisturiser should be applied before oil, as applying oil too early can act as a barrier and prevent hydration from reaching the skin. Dr Kaur added that SPF is another essential step to protect against UV damage and maintain an even skin tone under makeup. A primer can also be layered last to create a smooth base and act as a protective barrier between skincare and makeup. 'We also see the thoughtful use of a jade roller and Gua Sha, both of which help enhance circulation, reduce puffiness, and gently sculpt the face, prepping the skin for a smoother makeup application,' said Dr Kaur, further advising using authentic stone tools, as plastic alternatives lack the cooling effect and can cause unnecessary friction. Always glide these tools in gentle upward strokes with adequate facial oil to avoid tugging or microtears, she said. 'While under-eye patches are a great addition to her routine, for more consistent and long-term benefits, incorporating an eye cream with ingredients like caffeine, hyaluronic acid, or peptides, applied twice daily, can help reduce puffiness, improve hydration, and visibly smooth fine lines over time,' mentioned the expert. 'It's also great to see neck moisturization included, as this often-overlooked area shows early signs of aging and benefits from the same actives used on the face. Include targeted treatments such as peptides, retinol, or firming serums formulated for the neck area,' said Dr Kaur. For optimal results and to prevent further damage, consult a board-certified dermatologist who can guide you on the right interventions based on your skin's needs. Finishing with a nourishing lip balm helps prevent flaking and ensures lipstick goes on evenly and comfortably. For daytime routines, Dr Kaur recommended choosing a balm with SPF to protect the delicate lip area from UV damage, which can lead to pigmentation and premature aging. Apply a generous layer during your prep, allowing it to deeply hydrate, and gently dab off any excess before applying lip makeup to an optimal finish. Lastly, the expert highlighted the importance of allowing each layer of skincare to absorb fully before moving to the next; rushing can impact product performance and affect how makeup sits on the skin.
