QB Teddy Bridgewater, 32 eyes return to NFL
Bridgewater's Miami Northwestern exit comes three weeks after he was suspended for allegedly providing impermissible benefits to his players, including Uber rides, meals and recovery services. He also asked for fans to donate to help cover these type of expenses.
The 32-year-old confirmed the suspension in a Facebook post last month.
"The suspension came from MNW and it's impossible to suspend someone who doesn't work for you," Bridgewater said. "So if im suspended from MNW im free to go to another school of my choice but IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE.
"And if it comes down to it, I will volunteer from the bleachers like I used to in 2018 and 2019 when no one had a problem."
After joining Miami Northwestern in 2024, Bridgewater led his alma mater to its first state championship since 2019. The program heads into the season as the fourth-ranked team in the state, per to the Massey Ratings.
Bridgewater returned to the NFL as Jared Goff's backup with the Detroit Lions in December but did not appear in a regular-season game. Bridgewater completed his only pass for 3 yards in the Lions' divisional round loss to the Washington Commanders.
In 10 NFL seasons with the Minnesota Vikings (2014-15, 2017), New Orleans Saints (2018-19), Carolina Panthers (2020), Denver Broncos (2021), Miami Dolphins (2022) and Detroit (2023-24), Bridgewater completed 1,372 of 2,067 passes (66.4 percent) for 15,120 yards with 75 touchdowns and 47 interceptions. He added 844 rushing yards and 11 scores on the ground.
Bridgewater was named to the Pro Bowl in his second season after starting all 16 games for the Vikings and leading them to an 11-5 record.
He hasn't started a game since 2022 with the Dolphins.

'If you're looking at all the important factors, the way they play has been the issue for years,' he said on Channel 7's The Agenda Setters this week. 'They are stuck in 2015 with their game styles, contest and defence, he (Goodwin) hasn't been able to improve that. He hasn't had a game style that stacks up in 2025. 'He hasn't been able to solve that. The (club) culture is (also) a mess, the senior players appear to do whatever they want.' Goodwin fronted the media on Tuesday at the MCG - and the departing coach couldn't resist firing off a bullet disguised as humour. 'I'm going to miss the players first and foremost,' he said. 'I have some amazing relationships with some blokes I've coached for an incredibly long what I won't miss is driving down to Casey.' It was a reference to the senior playing group often commuting to Casey Fields in Cranbourne - more than 50km from the CBD - for training sessions. Goodwin - who has already been linked to a move to Sydney next season - will receive a reported payout of $1.2million from the Demons, as he was contracted until 2026. Assistant Melbourne coach Troy Chaplin will step in as caretaker coach for the remainder of this season ahead of fixtures against the Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Collingwood.

August 6 - Behind 2-for-4 efforts and a combined five RBIs from Wilyer Abreu and Trevor Story, the Boston Red Sox scored five runs across the sixth and seventh innings en route to a 6-2 win over the visiting Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night. The middle-of-the-order duo supported starter Garrett Crochet (13-4), who earned his sixth consecutive win after dealing seven innings of four-hit, two-run ball with eight strikeouts. Story drove in three with RBI hits in each of those multi-run innings, including a go-ahead, two-run single into center field in the sixth. Pittsburgh Steelers dealt major injury blow as quarterback is ruled out for weeks with broken hand
The Pittsburgh Steelers ' quarterback room was dented Tuesday as it emerged that one of its rising signal callers suffered an injury setback. Will Howard, who was selected by the Steelers in the sixth round of April's NFL Draft, has suffered a fracture in his hand after banging it during practice, according to Ian Rapoport. While the young quarterback is awaiting further tests, it is not expected that he will be required to undergo surgery.
