Video: Jake Paul faces off Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano on top of Empire State Building

USA Today2 days ago
It was business between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are taking women's boxing to new heights – quite literally.
The two boxing stars faced off Tuesday on top of the Empire State Building ahead of their highly anticipated trilogy bout – which takes place Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York. The championship fight serves as the headliner to an all-women's boxing card that streams on Netflix.
Given what's at stake, the faceoff was tense, but also respectful. The two broke a smile mid-staredown. YouTube star and boxer Jake Paul, who's promoting the event under Most Valuable Promotion, led the faceoff.
You can watch the Taylor and Serrano square off on top of the Empire State Building in the video below.
Taylor, 39, is putting her undisputed super lightweight title on the line against 36-year-old Serrano.
Taylor won their first two encounters. In 2022, Taylor overcame adversity to escape with a split decision win at MSG. Then last November, Taylor and Serrano put on an instant classic, with Taylor winning by unanimous decision amid some headbutt controversy at the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium. The rematch was the co-main event to the heavily hyped Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight on Netflix. Taylor vs. Serrano 3 is considered the biggest rivalry in the history of women's boxing.

Netflix drops first trailer for new mystery thriller series — and it looks like a twisty ride full of murder and secrets

Netflix has just dropped a trailer for the twist-filled thriller 'The Hunting Wives,' but here's a curveball: it didn't originate with Netflix. The new series was actually acquired from Starz, meaning it won't carry the streamer's original branding, but that's not stopping it from becoming a potential No. 1 hit when it debuts on July 21. Originally developed by Starz, the show quietly changed hands in a strategic move that now places it in front of Netflix's global audience. And if the trailer is anything to go by, this southern-set mystery could have viewers hooked. With a starry cast led by Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman, the story follows a bored housewife who relocates to East Texas and falls in with a seductive clique of elite women, a decision that leads to obsession, betrayal, and ultimately, murder. Malin Akerman, Brittany Snow, Katie Lowes, Chrissy Metz, and Dermot Mulroney star in The Hunting Wives — a new series premiering July 21. When Sophie moves to East Texas, an intoxicating group of affluent women usher her into a world of seduction, jealousy, and murder. 9, 2025 The trailer for 'The Hunting Wives' introduces a group of wealthy women living lives of leisure, spending their days sipping cocktails, flirting, and shooting for sport. But their seemingly carefree world takes a dark and sudden turn when a night of fun spirals into chaos. Sophie (Snow) and Margo (Akerman) find themselves entangled in a deadly situation, forced to cover up a murder in a town where secrets run deep and trust is in short supply. As the pressure mounts, it becomes clear that betrayal could come from anywhere, even from those closest to them. For now, the new series appears to be available exclusively in the United States. While there's a chance it could be licensed in other countries later (especially if it becomes a breakout hit) it's currently geographically limited to the U.S. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. 'The Hunting Wives' centers on Sophie, a woman who relocates to a small town in Texas and quickly becomes entangled with a dazzling group of local wives. Their days are filled with high-end fashion, midday cocktails, and weekend hunting trips, but beneath the surface, there's far more going on. 'The Hunting Wives' is based on a bestselling novel, a sharp and sultry story that dives headfirst into the lives of wealthy southern women and the secrets they try to keep buried. As Sophie slips deeper into their seductive world, the dynamic begins to shift. The women (charmed by Sophie's quiet presence and mysterious past) become increasingly fixated on her. And while Sophie appears to be swept up in their allure, she may be hiding a few secrets of her own. At the center of it all is Margo, the group's leader. She takes a special interest in Sophie, even confiding personal details as their bond intensifies. But things start to spiral as Margo's husband (Dermot Mulroney) launches a political campaign, forcing her to clean up her image. The cast also includes Evan Jonigkeit as Sophie's husband, Graham, Chrissy Metz as Starr, a devout outsider who doesn't fit in with the elite wives, and Katie Lowes as Jill, a pastor's wife with a fierce maternal streak. Jaime Ray Newman plays Callie, a sharp-shooting member of the inner circle, and George Ferrier rounds out the group as Brad, whose 'charm hides darker layers.' 'The Hunting Wives' is based on May Cobb's bestselling novel, a sharp and sultry story that dives headfirst into the lives of wealthy southern women and the secrets they try to keep buried. The series comes from showrunner Rebecca Cutter, best known for 'Hightown' and 'Gotham.' Season 1 will feature eight episodes in total, with composer Jeff Danna behind the score. Judging by the newly released trailer, this looks like a twist-filled binge-watch, and I'm certain it will climb the ranks in Netflix's top 10 list based on the intriguing premise alone. While it's not labeled a Netflix original, 'The Hunting Wives' seems to have the right ingredients to draw viewers in with its dark twists and southern setting. Set to premiere on U.S. Netflix on July 21, it will be interesting to see how viewers respond once it's released since there hasn't been much build-up.

27 Normal Things From The '90s That Nobody Does Anymore

Believe it or not, the '90s ended 25 years ago. (Yep, that's a fact that never fails to amaze and disgust me.) And of course, everyday life has TOTALLY changed in those in ways we wouldn't even realize. So recently, millennials on Reddit have been answering the question: "What's something that felt normal growing up as a millennial but now seems really strange?" and oh wow, it's really unlocking some memories. So here's what people said: "Calling a girl's house to speak with her and not knowing who would answer. That was a fun one." "No phones for photos. Just actual cameras." "Cash and cheques everywhere (card wasn't accepted in so many places)." "Using school encyclopedias to obtain information." "Tape recording music off the radio..." "Flipping through the channels and waiting all morning on Saturday for the four shows you actually like, only for two of them to play simultaneously on opposing networks with a limited chance for reruns." "Going to the mall with friends to get pictures taken with angelic backgrounds and blurry bad Photoshop on our faces, with over-plucked, over-arched eyebrows and fried straight hair. You know what I'm talking about." "Printing out directions. Also, printing out cheat codes for video games. Growing up we had a binder for all the games we wanted to have cheats for." "Hanging out with 20-year-old guys when we were 15 and 16." "All the shit you had to carry around. Cell phone for calls and texts, Discman (and later MP3 or iPod) for music, and digital camera just for photos." "Knocking on someone's door to see if they can hang out." "Wandering around the mall on a Friday night. Probably seeing a movie." "The music on CD players skipping if the player was bumped." "Never calling adults by their first name." "$5 footlongs. They're up there with the Pyramids, the Moon landing, works of Shakespeare, and the Sistine Chapel. One of humanity's finest achievements." "Going to people's doors so often. I knocked on strangers' doors for fundraising all the time and I can't believe that was allowed, let alone encouraged. Once for a friends birthday, we split in groups and went to strangers' doors for a scavenger hunt ('We're looking for a penny from these years or a non-yellow post-it; can you give us one?'). Now I sometimes knock on doors for political campaign volunteering, but even that makes me nervous and I would not want any child doing that." "'It is now safe to turn off your computer.'" "Just not knowing something. It's hard to explain to my 15-year-old that when I was growing up, if we wondered something, we had to just not know the real answer because we couldn't Google it." "Before YouTube, there was 'call your school friend that had the same game as you and ask how the hell to beat the boss in Super Mario Bros 2.' Those were the days." "Getting home after a long day and seeing, like, five new messages on the answering machine. Then listening to them as you got around the house. I remember this one kid left a rude-toned one saying he was mad at my little brother for not answering the phone that day, LOL." "Phone books are such an alien concept now. I saw a video recently where a bodybuilder ripped a phone book in half. I was more impressed that he somehow had access to a phone book." "Playing outside as kids with no parental supervision. I still think it's so weird you can't do that anymore." "I swear school photos look so different now. For mine, I sat in front of a background and the photographer would keep telling me to move my neck. By the time my brother (Gen Z) started school, it was him standing against a background. The photos I get from my friends who are parents as well are the same, standing against a background." "Buying cigarettes for my mom as a kid like it was no big deal." "A cultural zeitgeist where everyone was watching and listening to the same thing. These days, everyone is either listening to a large mix of everything, or they are all watching different shows at different times. It makes it feel like there is little shared culture anymore." "Just the amount of places you had to go for everything. I got dragged along by my mom to tons of places to do little things that can all be done on an app or through the internet. Like going to the bank to get a money order to take to the cable office to pay for the phone." "Calling your parents collect but then cramming 'heyitsmecomepickmeup' in when it asks for your name so they don't have to pay for the call." Mormon Wives Reunion: 22 Jaw-Dropping Moments

🚨CONTENT WARNING🚨 Recently, I began my journey watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Spoiler alert: Their lives are neither secret NOR very Mormon. Well, much to my dismay (both at the fact that I watched two seasons of a show this fast AND that I even watched it at all), I have reached the dramatic Season 2 reunion that aired last week. Hosted by none other than Nick Viall, one of the most dramatic men in reality television. So, without further ado, here's everything I learned while watching the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives reunion. ICYMI, the Season 2 finale left off with all the girls fighting: Demi was threatening to leave #MomTok, the Marciano/Demi/Jessi cheating scandal was dropped, and overall growing tensions regarding Whitney everyone else in #MomTok. This reunion kicked off with a prayer led by Zac: Quelle surprise. Demi was not present at the reunion: Demi apparently had a trip planned to Disneyland with her family, but she did show up on Nick Viall's podcast where she said that the other girls were "afraid" to stand up to Taylor (not her, though!) and that Taylor didn't value the other women of #MomTok. Very easy to say when you're talking to Nick and not on a stage with other cast members, but I digress. But Jen was: I still will never get over the fact that her husband, Zac, lied about being related to Ben Affleck. In the Season 2 finale, Marciano (of Vanderpump Villa) alleged that he hooked up with Demi AND Jessi, however, the #MomTok ladies said that all the flirting only happened with Demi: Jessi came equipped with receipts in the form of flirty DMs between Marciano and Demi. How she got these screenshots, I do not know, but clearly it's in a Utah woman's nature to get the receipts, proof, timelines and screenshots! Jessi is no longer wearing her wedding ring and the truth of what happened between her and Marciano + where her and her husband Jordan now stand will be revealed in Season 3: Talk about epic promo for Season 3! Taylor provided more clarity on why she came forward in the first place: Taylor revealed that the reason why she took to TikTok Live to share the soft-swinging scandal was because, while she did cheat on her husband (i.e. engaged sexually with another husband in their group outside of the groups pre-agreed arrangements), that was something that was only being discussed between Taylor and her ex. Once she saw that there were rumors online that she was a "husband stealer", she wanted to set the record straight and provide context regarding their soft-swinging lifestyle. Layla's sexual journey was a big topic in Season 2 -- she revealed that she's never experienced an orgasm via sex -- and, although she ~engaged~ with Cam, she's still only orgasmed with a vibrator: Power to Layla for owning her sexuality! I hope she gets a brand deal from this. Intermission, but Nick stays saying what we're ALL thinking: It seems like for every rule in the Mormon religion, there are at least three loopholes to that rule. Not "news," but my God, the relationship between Taylor and Dakota is a MESS: Not only was Dakota sleeping with other women at the beginning of their relationship (when he told her that he "didn't sleep with multiple girls at once"), he was actively sleeping with another woman (Jenna) while he was committed to Taylor. Most of the infidelity, according to Taylor, came to light AFTER she had their son. Even though they aren't "together" anymore, they are still sleeping with one another. However, Taylor doesn't want to be with Dakota (even though he wants to be with her), because he's hurt her and she can't trust him. So, regardless of the Stagecoach photos (that have since been deleted from Taylor's Instagram) and them continuing to have sex with one another and co-parenting together, at this stage, Taylor does NOT want to get back together with Dakota: Nick put it to a vote, who's more accountable, Taylor or Whitney? All of the women (except for Miranda) voted that Taylor took way more accountability than Whitney: Intermission, the way that the #MomTok husbands are huddled around the TV watching the reunion from the green room like there isn't a couch for them to sit on right there: CMA-gate was squashed -- Taylor admitted that she was being petty with her post and the other women admitted that it was "weird" but not purposeful that no one engaged with her achievement publicly: TL;DR, Taylor presented an award at the CMAs in 2024, and none of her fellow #MomTokers publicly showed support immediately after she posted. The women said they shared support and congrats quietly, but when your entire job is based on likes and engagement, it's understandable (not that I agree with how she went about it!) to be upset that your internet posse doesn't show public support for your achievements. Conner opened up about his pornography addiction and how it stemmed from needing validation which, he believed, was rooted in the fact that he was raped as a child: I hope that Conner was/is getting the help he needed/needs to work through this! Regardless of the drama that occurred during this reunion, it was beautiful to see the cast put aside their differences and be supportive of Conner in that moment. Zac Affleck confirmed once, and for all, that he is not related to Ben Affleck: I don't think anyone was on the fence about this one, but thanks for clearing it up, I guess! Jen opened up about her struggles with prenatal depression: Jen revealed that she experienced suicidal ideations at the beginning of her pregnancy but is better now that she's in her third trimester and has since received help. It's been a couple of months since Zac and Jen made an appearance on #MomTok, but they're in therapy (nine hours a week) to work on themselves and their marriage: Kudos to them! However, Demi revealed on The Viall Files that the apology video Jen made for the #MomTok ladies felt "calculated" and "performative": Ironic to claim that Jen is "running away" when Demi isn't even at the reunion to back up her claim, but I digress. Allegedly, Demi sent a cease and desist to Jen and Zac when Jen didn't agree to say certain things to the #MomTok ladies that Demi wanted her to regarding Vanderpump Villa: A lil convenient that Demi isn't present at the reunion, but, once again, I digress! Layla opened up about her body dysmorphia, self-harm, and suicidal ideations: Layla revealed that she hasn't self-harmed in a long time and got her scars removed because her children noticed them and she didn't want to tell them that the "owies" were purposeful. Mikayla opened up about her past sexual assault and how Conner was an integral part of her healing journey: This is the "closest" Whitney and Mikayla have been in "two years": Nick Viall encouraged the ladies to hug one another soon after Conner (Whitney's husband) and Mikayla shared their traumatic pasts involving sexual assault. Last, but not least, we got some Mormon terminology and, can confirm, I will never be the same again: BONUS! To end on a happy note, Jen and Whitney reveal that they will appear on Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars! Something to tide me over until Season 3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
