Revanth Reddy: Ensure all preparations for Vanakalam crop

Time of India16-05-2025
Hyderabad: Chief minister A
Revanth Reddy
on Friday directed
agriculture officials
to ensure full preparedness for the upcoming monsoon (Vanakalam) crop season, with timely availability of seeds and fertilisers across all districts.
At a review meeting, the CM instructed stringent action against those selling
spurious seeds
. "Cases under the PD Act must be booked against such offenders. The chief secretary should coordinate with collectors, SPs, and commissioners to ensure farmers face no trouble accessing quality seeds and fertilisers," he said.
He emphasised the need for vigilance at the district level. Task forces comprising agriculture and police departments should conduct joint raids and monitor state borders to prevent the movement of spurious seeds.
Revanth Reddy warned officials to act decisively and legally against those cheating farmers. "Know who is selling fake seeds, where they're stored, and how they're being transported. Take strict legal action without exceptions," he added.
Officials briefed the CM that sufficient seed and fertiliser stocks are available. With a significant area expected under paddy and cotton cultivation, all major seed brands are already in the market.

He also instructed the agriculture department to run large-scale awareness campaigns to protect farmers from fraud.

E-Khata bribe allegations shake Belagavi Council

Belagavi: Accusations of widespread corruption in e-Khata registration at the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) have sparked a heated debate. At Thursday's council meeting, MLAs and corporators alleged that revenue staff is demanding bribes ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 for property registrations. The claims fuelled public concern over transparency and accountability in the civic body. The process of e-Aasthi or e-Khata registration of properties under the classification of A, B, and C is underway in Belagavi city and across the district. An estimated 1.6 lakh properties need to be registered under e-Khata within the limits of Belagavi Corporation. The consolidation of documents required for e-property registration is facing many challenges as well. The common people are expressing strong dissatisfaction against this kind of exploitation, as the e-Khata registration will be processed only if the property owners come through intermediaries. A serious discussion took place in the BCC general meeting on the allegations of widespread corruption in e-Aasthi or e-Khata registration, arbitrary licensing of multi-storey buildings, and interference of middlemen in the documentation of properties. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 3 & 4 BHK Starts ₹1.65 Cr in Kukatpally Honer Signatis Book Now Undo According to a person who works as a middleman in e-property registration, the properties with legal documents are fewer in the BCC limit. Now, efforts are underway to regularise such properties by creating records. Many public representatives, including MLAs, are supporting the regularisation of encroached properties. It has resulted in the presence of middlemen in the corporation. The middlemen have emerged to create legal documents. MLA Abhay Patil took the officials to task in the council meeting, saying that the officials apply the laws and rules only for poor and middle-class people. However, they do not ask anything of those who are illegally building 10 to 15-storey apartments in the city. He cautioned that if this kind of exploitation is not stopped, the MLAs themselves will have to start the e-Khata distribution campaign.

No more dangling dangers: Janakpuri to be soon free of overhead electrical wires

New Delhi: Delhi govt has started replacing about two kilometres of overhead low-tension electrical wires with underground feeder and service cables in west Delhi's Janakpuri. The govt launched a pilot project in north Delhi's Shalimar Bagh, which falls under the jurisdiction of Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, earlier this month, while the work in Janakpuri is being executed by a BSES discom. Officials said more resdiential pockets, such as parts of Malviya Nagar and Safdarjung Development Area, would also be included in the project. Power department officials said it was a critical step towards fulfilling Delhi govt's ambitious vision of creating a Viksit Delhi—a city entirely free from overhead electrical wires. The new underground network will incorporate 15 strategically placed feeder pillars whose supply will be monitored by a distribution substation monitoring system through feed gathered from strategically placed intelligent sensors, which can be viewed at any location. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Book Now And Save up to ₹23.71L on Luxury Homes in Whitefield Sumadhura Group Learn More Undo "The project incorporates advanced technological solutions such as fully automated fault restoration terminal units, enabling remote fault isolation and restoration in under 15 minutes, significantly reducing downtime," said an official. "IoT-based sensors will provide real-time monitoring, delivering insights for predictive maintenance and optimal load management." During the transition phase, the residents will face "minimal inconvenience", with carefully managed, brief scheduled shutdowns to ensure smooth and efficient execution, the official added. Officials said the installation of feeder pillars was underway and the cable-laying activities started recently. The work is expected to be completed by the end of Aug, if timely road-cutting permissions are received. Delhi govt has allocated Rs 100 crore in its 2025-26 budget for the broader rollout of the underground cabling project. This development plan aims to improve urban infrastructure and enhance power supply reliability in the city.
