Birmingham-based designer Caylee Stefanek of LOGOS Interiors brings soulful sophistication to spaces throughout the South, from Lake Martin to Little Rock. She launched her design firm as a way to turn her lifelong love of drawing floor plans and crafting meaningful spaces into a full-time gig, and we're here for it. We caught up with Caylee and learned how she honors a home's history, finds beauty in function … and how much she's looking forward to raising chickens.

What first sparked your love for design?
My family built a custom home in middle school, and my dad allowed me to be very involved at a young age. My parents divorced, and as the oldest child, I stepped into homemaking like I was made for it. Coupled with my passion for drawing houses and floor plans in middle school, I have had my eye on a design career for a very long time.
As a nanny in college, my passion for crafting homes was influenced by some of the most affluent homes in Belle Meade, TN, and how they function for families and caretakers. I was always drawn to the homes that felt unique, livable, and impressive.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
My aesthetic is most influenced by my upbringing in Franklin, TN, rural Arkansas, and travels to New England. Anything with a pastoral or coastal emotion feels like home to me, and I especially enjoy mixing in rustic and raw elements with minimalism.

How has Birmingham's rich architectural heritage shaped your approach to interior design?
The homes in Birmingham have been a wonderful landscape to meander through. Each one has a traditional edge that welcomes my aesthetic, and at times challenges it to be more formal, using more contrast, damask, and brass, more than I typically would. Birmingham homeowners are proud of their homes and put them to use.
I appreciate being included in the teams chosen to steward those homes, some dating back 100 years. My stewardship-driven approach is focused on finding a design that feels authentic to me, the home, and the homeowner and is, therefore, timeless. I believe it is imperative to avoid trends that will lose value over time.

Your work celebrates layered textures and unexpected detail. What is one signature element you often return to, and what brings you back to it?
Every room I work on will have an antique. I like to reduce waste by reusing, and more importantly, I believe that if the piece has lasted a hundred years, it will outlast anything else on the market that I can order for a client.

My favorite project to date is probably a series of barn-style homes nestled into some acreage in Leeds, AL.
What advice would you give someone trying to move beyond Pinterest and create a home that truly reflects their personal style?
I would unplug and travel. Even if your schedule and budget don't allow for it, like mine, get out and do something to stir your heart. Take a day trip to Mentone, AL, drive through the countryside, spend a weekend at the beach, and reflect on where your heart wants to marinate. We can create that in your home without Pinterest.

If you had to design a dream space with no limitations (location, budget, or client), what would it look like?
A dark-stained cedar-shingled home inspired by my trips as a nanny to Compo Beach in Westport, [but built] in the heart of Mountain Brook, AL, with luscious layers of boxwood, accessory buildings, and a simple pool. I would like to live there and draw every gate, corbel, and custom door to the 'nth' degree.

What's a design risk you took that paid off?
My most recent design risk was a new business venture. I was asked to draw an 8,000-square-foot dream home for a client who wanted my take on everything from the floor plans to interior and exterior elevations. I undertook this project with singularity, grave attention to detail, and gratitude. We hope the house will break ground late summer.

Daphne: A Nashville Home Store with Heart, Color & Personality

It's called Daphne, and it's the namesake of Owner Will Joyce's mother. She encouraged her children to embrace life's quirks and celebrate what makes them unique. That philosophy radiates through every corner of Will's shop and design style. Pin Pin A Design Journey Rooted in Nashville Will's interior design journey started in 1996 at Ethan Allen in Nashville. He went on to spend 17 years at Sprintz, honing his craft, learning the ins and outs of sourcing, styling, and what truly speaks to a home. 'I always wanted my own shop,' Will shares. 'And in 2018, I decided if I didn't jump into this booming Nashville economy, I might never do it.' That leap of faith became Daphne, which opened just before the pandemic. Like all things home-related, it thrived. 'People were investing in their homes again,' he says. 'It gave me the chance to create a space where everyone could find something they love.' Unapologetically Personal Style Will's design eye favors the bold and layered. 'I love color, pattern, and texture,' he says. 'I never embraced the gray-on-gray trend. I like when a room reflects personality — not something that looks like anyone could live there.' That philosophy carries over into how he buys for Daphne. 'The safest things I buy sit here the longest,' he laughs. 'But bring in a bold floral sofa? It sells. People connect emotionally with pieces that stand out.' He encourages customers to design for themselves, not their sister-in-law, best friend, or what's trending on social media. 'If it makes you smile when you walk in the door, then it's the right choice.' Pin Pin A Store with Soul and Discovery Around Every Corner While most of the pieces at Daphne are new, Will curates them to feel storied. A chest with an antique finish, a pair of revamped boudoir lamps he turned into works of art, and even a vintage science lab table with loads of character are all examples of his unexpected finds. 'I'm always drawn to pieces that feel a little weirdly wonderful,' he says. There's also a strong local thread running through the store. Nashville artist Robin Wolfenden's cyanotype prints — created by laying foliage on sun-sensitive paper and letting nature do the work — adorn note cards, wine bags, and large-scale art. Another local artist, Marla Fate, brings silk-based collage wall hangings to life with mixed media and ancient Buddhist art references. And don't miss Will's creative wall hack — a whimsical cluster of vintage-looking postage stamp stickers that artfully covers nail holes and adds a dash of surprise. SO/ Paris is the chicest hotel for pampering, dining and shopping
One of the world's coolest hotels has stepped into the loungewear category for the second time. SO/ Paris – a contemporary property from Accor and restaurant group Paris Society – just dropped another collaboration with Berlin-based label Tom Àdam . The luxe hotel has become somewhat of a hotspot in recent years, known for its refined, chic decor and breathtaking view of the Seine River. Every inch of the place feels like a magazine editorial, blending art deco and futurism with a rustic orange and gold tone palette. The latest SO/ x Tom Àdam collaboration plays on the colour scheme of the hotel's river view, blending both the relaxed and sophisticated vibes of the SO/ brand. The center of the collection is the two-piece loungewear set ($470) in navy blue, made out of cozy and sustainable Tencel. The hotel's logo is subtly embroidered on the front pocket for an 'if you know, you know' nod to the SO/ Paris. Our favourite part of this set is the pieces can easily be worn out-and-about, as well as styled with jeans (or whatever you like) – or kept as a pajama set. The true star of the line, however, is the matching navy blue sleep mask ($95) which guarantees a good night's sleep at the hotel and beyond. Packaged in a matching and reusable drawstring bag, this accessory is an easy one to travel with or lovely to gift a friend. Also made of Tencel, the mask is adjustable for comfort and breathable for sensitive skin. The line follows the orange-themed collaboration from last year, which also included a pajama set and striped sleep mask . Conveniently located steps from the Sully-Morland Metro station between Bastille and Le Marais, the SO/ Paris is a rare ultra-modern hotel experience in the French capital that doesn't compromise on Parisian style. Attention to detail is at the core of the experience as soon as you enter the doors; guests are welcomed with a signature non-alcoholic refresher made of rhubarb, pineapple and rose to set the stage. Patou-designed staff uniforms are also a nice touch, playing into the curated experience of the hotel. Through the ground floor and to the left is the laid-back Lobby Cafe , a perfect spot for a meeting or to post up on your laptop over a red velvet cappuccino. The 15th floor houses Paris hot spot BONNIE , which has become one of the city's most popular weekend bars and restaurants, thanks to impeccable cocktail selection and views. Hotel guests will find the lavish breakfast buffet served here until 10:30 a.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on weekends. The real mark of a fantastic hotel, however, is the room. With 162 total – 140 standard and 22 suites – SO/Paris knows exactly how to be a home away from home while somehow feeling luxurious in every way. Contemporary art and decor outfit each naturally bright room, with funky touches like a JARRE bulldog-shaped Bluetooth speaker to jam out to your favourite tunes. Get a balcony if you can: you won't regret the evening Eiffel Tower view while sipping a cup of SO/ 's custom-blended teas. Spa-inspired showers are the highlight of the bathrooms, outfitted with products from opulent label Codage Paris. The beloved skincare brand is also involved in a collaboration with the property, co-creating the Une Nuit Au SO serum – translating to 'A Night At The SO.' The silky serum blends essential oils and retinoids, stimulating the production of collagen to keep skin looking fresh and supple after a long flight and beyond. Codage Paris products are also used in the on-property spa, which features an on-site Turkish steam bath. The Le Marais neighbourhood in the 4th arrondissement is also just steps away. Take a stroll down to Noir coffee bar before an afternoon of leisurely shopping at our go-to's: Officine Universelle Buly for a custom lip balm , Sezane's L'Appartement for their signature cardigans , and Florence Finkelsztajn for bagels.
