And The Irish Times this morning reported that Budget boosts worth up to €1,000 per worker have been dropped from October's plans.
Government leaders have agreed on the complete elimination of one-off payments such as energy credits, double welfare and Child Benefit double boosts.
The one-off cash boosts have benefited the average worker by about €1,000 each.

Business group IBEC urged the government to take a "measured and strategic" approach to the budget later this year, calling for targeted investment in areas that enhance productivity and competitiveness.
Ibec said a Budget package of €3 billion - including €1.3 billion in additional infrastructure spending under the National Development Plan - is "appropriate for Budget 2026".
The lobby group warned that tariffs "post a serious threat to Irish business" and said the economic model Ireland has relied on for the past five decades is under serious strain.

She said: "These are not abstract statistics – they represent children growing up in cold bedrooms, going to school hungry, and missing out on the social and educational experiences that are fundamental to a healthy childhood.

BUDGET 2026 PROPOSALS
THE Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has called for an increase in child supports, living alone and disability payments in Budget 2026.
The charity said temporary, one-off cost-of-living payments from the government provided critical short-term relief in recent years but targeted supports will give "support where it's most needed".
It has proposed a number of items for Budget 2026:
Increase and Index-Link the Income Disregard for One-Parent Family Payment and Jobseeker's Transitional Payment
Make childcare affordable by increasing the subsidy and threshold for the National Childcare Scheme
Ensure every child in emergency accommodation has access to a child support worker
Continue roll out of free hot school meals to all children and ensure ongoing evaluation of nutritional content
Increase provision of social housing stock and affordable cost rental homes
Introduce a homeless prevention budget amounting to 20 per cent of all homeless expenditure
Provide capital funding to address the long-term accommodation needs for those in direct provision with status to remain
Allocate €10 million to establish local, publicly run Early Childhood, Education and Care services
Make our state education system truly free by removing costs and charges to families including mock exam and correction fees, electronic devices and school uniforms
Benchmark SUSI grants and reckonable income levels against the cost of living
Increase Fuel Allowance by €9.50 per week
Extend the Fuel Allowance to recipients of the working Family Payment
Pilot a community energy advice service.

And more children of the same age are being investigated for clandestine activities on behalf of the hostile states. They are being recruited through online forums and then lured into working for anonymous Russian and Iranian spymasters offering financial inducements. Criminals are increasingly being used by hostile states to spy against Britain by proxy after being recruited online and promised cash which rarely materialises. Focus in Budget 2026 has to be on transforming infrastructure, Martin says

The Government's focus in the next budget has to be on transforming infrastructure, Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said as Sinn Féin insisted a cost-of-living package had to be included. Such a package has been ruled out in advance of Budget 2026 in October, including payments that have benefited the average worker by €1,000. In the Dáil Mr Martin said there would be supports in the budget but said the focus 'quite simply has to be on transforming our infrastructure'. Challenging the Government's budget stance, Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald said the Taoiseach was 'doubling down' on the removal of support payments 'for struggling households at a time when living costs are through the roof'. READ MORE Irish households are paying 30 per cent more than the EU average for electricity each year , almost €350 extra, recent Eurostat data shows. The ESRI said it was difficult to explain such a difference. The Government proposes to cancel the 'very help they desperately need' in energy credits as part of a cost-of-living package in the budget, Ms McDonald said. 'People are being fleeced now today, when they open their electricity or gas bill, when they get to the checkout with the weekly shop, when they go to fill the car, and when they go to buy basic toiletries like toothpaste or shampoo,' she said. Mr Martin acknowledged that prices are 'relatively elevated' following the peak of inflation and that Ireland has the third lowest rate of inflation in the EU. He said the Government had done a lot and 'more than any other European government' in terms of cushioning and trying to reduce the impact of cost-of-living increases on people. This included extending the VAT reduction to 9 per cent on electricity and gas, which will save households €70 for gas and €55 for electricity. Mr Martin said there will be a significant increase in the number of people eligible for the fuel allowance in September and that the carers support grant increased to €2,000 in January, benefiting 138,000 people. He said from June women can receive HRT free of charge. [ Why are food prices going up? Who is profiting and what can be done about it? Opens in new window ] He also pointed to the back-to-school clothing and footwear allowance, the free schoolbook scheme and the free hot meals scheme in primary schools. 'We have to be prudent,' he said. 'We have to be cautious and careful in terms of the resources that we have. And I know everybody wants us to spend billions, but that is not open to us.' He said 'we will be spending a lot. There won't be any austerity in itself but there has to be some degree of caution because the situation could change' he said, in reference to the threat of US president Donald Trump's 30 per cent tariff .
