ONE Championship: Hong Kong star Yu Yau-pui back in the ring at ONE Fight Night 29

Hong Kong's Yu Yau-pui is set to return to action against Poland's Martyna Kierczynska at ONE Fight Night 29 on March 8.

The event will be a significant night for women's Muay Thai, with Allycia Hellen Rodrigues defending her atomweight title against Shir Cohen in the main event.
Both Yu and Kierczynska will be looking to bounce back from their first defeats under the ONE Championship banner, when they face off at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium.
Yu secured a lucrative US$100,000 (HK$777,000) contract after a dominant run, scoring four knockout wins in five fights. But her momentum was halted in August last year when Scottish veteran Amy Pirnie knocked her out in the first round at ONE Fight Night 24.
Kierczynska made a strong impression in the strawweight division with a second-round stoppage of Nat 'Wondergirl' Jaroonsak on her ONE debut, before the 22-year-old suffered a unanimous decision loss to Ekaterina Vandaryeva in March.

Both fighters are known for their aggressive styles and have had time to regroup. A convincing victory for either could put them back in the mix at the top of the division.

Malaysian Muay Thai star Johan Ghazali brushes off haters ahead of ONE Fight Night 35

Muay Thai sensation Johan Ghazali said he was ready to silence the doubters when he returns to action at ONE Fight Night 35 at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium in September. The 18-year-old will face Morocco's Zakaria El Jamari in a flyweight Muay Thai contest and aimed to deliver a statement performance after a tough decision loss to Colombian-American Diego Paez in June. 'My layovers are a little too long for my liking, but I'm just happy to be back in there,' Ghazali told the Post. That last outing prompted a wave of criticism online, but Ghazali said he was learning to handle the spotlight. 'People will talk s*** about me no matter what I do,' he said. 'Especially now. I'd like to say I'm one of the biggest Muay Thai stars in ONE Championship. I've got eyes on me. So, most of it is just for extra publicity – I just play into the marketing game a bit. It doesn't really affect me.' Zakaria El Jamari (right) lost to Johan Estupinan at ONE Fight Night 25 last October. Reusable cups at Kai Tak will ‘undermine' Hong Kong's green efforts: tourism chief

Hong Kong authorities have pushed back against a call to use reusable plastic containers at Kai Tak Sports Park, saying such non-biodegradable products will 'undermine' efforts to promote carbon reduction and resource recycling. Advertisement In reply to a lawmaker's question on Wednesday, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui said that research by the park's operator comparing local and overseas practices showed that using reusable plastic containers in Hong Kong would generate more carbon emissions and consume more resources. On the same day, environmental NGO Greenpeace Hong Kong urged the sports park to consider using reusable plastic cups for the coming Hong Kong Football Festival and called on Law to refer to other global sports organisations, such as the English Premier League, in which 65 per cent of clubs used reusable cups. It also called on the bureau to take the lead in piloting and subsidising a reusable cup system during the National Games to be co-hosted by the city in November, making it the first carbon-neutral edition of the event. However, Law did not consider using reusable plastic containers a good idea. Advertisement 'As reusable plastic containers are not biodegradable, they do not support the plastic-free initiative and undermine Kai Tak Sports Park's efforts in promoting carbon reduction and resource circulation,' Law said.

National Games tickets to start from around HK$50

National Games tickets to start from around HK$50 Yeung Tak-keung says tickets will be sold online and at the venues. Photo: RTHK Tickets for National Games events in Hong Kong will start at around HK$50, an official said on Wednesday. The SAR will jointly host the Games this November, along with Macau and Guangdong. Yeung Tak-keung, the head of Hong Kong's National Games Coordination Office, told RTHK that the SAR will be able to make its own decisions on admissions and tickets will be made as affordable as possible. "For example, fencing and rugby sevens, Hong Kong will be fully responsible for all the competitions, no matter its gender category, or fencing disciplines. We will therefore have more room to set ticket prices," he said. "We will set prices with reference to past competitions, with the preliminary rounds being cheaper and prices for the semi-finals and finals to be adjusted accordingly." Yeung said full-day and half-day tickets will be available, depending on competition schedules, and they will be sold both online and at the venues. He added that plans are being drawn up for the torch relay which will go past tourist hotspots, with the event also to be shown on TV.
