Achraf Hakimi could face trial in France over rape allegation
The final decision now lies with the investigating judge, who will determine whether to uphold the indictment issued on August 1. If Hakimi is sent to trial and found guilty, he could face up to 15 years in prison, according to Le Parisien.
The case stems from events on the night of February 25, 2023, when a 24-year-old woman reported having met Hakimi through private Instagram messages. After over a month of exchanging messages, she accepted his invitation to visit his home in Boulogne-Billancourt, arriving via an Uber he had arranged.
According to her account, Hakimi kissed her and touched her over her clothing despite her explicit refusals, and then continued until he allegedly forced her into «a sexual act against her will». She said she eventually managed to push him away with her foot and left the house, later texting a friend for help. That friend confirmed to police that the young woman appeared to be in shock and that her story seemed consistent.
Although she went to a police station in Paris that same day, she did not file a formal complaint at the time. During the preliminary investigation later opened by the Nanterre prosecutor's office, she submitted messages sent to friends that reportedly reflected her psychological distress following the incident.
On March 3, 2023, Hakimi was charged with rape by the investigating judge. He was placed under judicial supervision as a formal investigation was launched but was not held in custody. Throughout all proceedings, the Moroccan footballer has denied committing any forced or non-consensual sexual act.
A direct confrontation between Hakimi and the complainant took place before the investigating judge on December 8, 2023. The woman maintained her accusations, while Hakimi reiterated his firm denial. Paris Saint-Germain chose to support their player, citing confidence in the judicial process and stating that his absence from training at the time was due to personal reasons.
During the investigation, Hakimi claimed that the complainant had orchestrated a «premeditated setup» in an attempt to extort money from him, a claim she categorically denied. Hakimi repeated this allegation in an interview in January 2025, according to the same source.

Achraf Hakimi's lawyer highlights inconsistencies in the complainant's account
Achraf Hakimi's lawyer told RMC Sport: «In cases of rape or sexual assault, we find in 99.9% of them psychological assessments indicating symptoms, post-traumatic stress, nightmares, weight gain, weight loss. However, in this case, none of that is present». On Friday, the public prosecutor's office in Nanterre, France, officially requested that Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi be referred to the regional criminal court in the Hauts-de-Seine department on charges of rape, an accusation the player has consistently denied, maintaining his innocence. «The prosecution, which represents the accusing party, is doing its job by trying to gather evidence that could incriminate the accused», the lawyer continued. «But I've reviewed the case file, and I can confirm there are numerous elements that exonerate my client». «It will be up to the defense to highlight these elements. In this case, we will fight to the end for the truth to come out, and for it to be said and heard that Achraf Hakimi said nothing, did nothing, and is not guilty». She also said she felt «calm» about the possibility of a trial, questioning the complainant's account, which she described as «contradictory». requested access to the complainant's phone to review messages she had not previously provided. Among the texts was one sent at midnight, in which the woman wrote to a friend, «Oh, I'm so angry, haha». Her friend Nadia replied with an unusual suggestion: «Listen to the song À l'abri by Fresh La Peufra» which opens with the lyrics, «I had no choice, I had to take risks to protect the family». Nadia went on to advise Amelie: «Go to him with the persona of a seductive woman», and followed up with a suspicious message: «Try to get the codes and everything», before adding, «We will rob him», and concluding with, «We are girls from the street». During his interrogation, Hakimi recounted: «We were exchanging text messages. She told me she was working, and I respected that. We continued exchanging kisses, which became a bit longer, and I placed my hand on her lower back. Then she told me: nothing will happen on the first meeting. I respected her stance and said, 'Okay.' We continued kissing, but she was using her phone again» The incident allegedly took place on February 25, 2023, when a 24-year-old woman claimed she was sexually assaulted by Hakimi at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt. This followed about a month of texting on Instagram, culminating in their first in-person meeting. According to her account, Hakimi arranged an Uber to bring her to his home, where she says he harassed and assaulted her despite her clear refusal. She also mentioned sending a text message to a friend asking for help, something her friend later confirmed to police. Later that same day, the woman went to a police station in the Paris suburbs to give her testimony, though she initially chose not to file an official complaint. On March 3, 2023, Hakimi was formally charged with rape.

Spanish Young Woman Retracts Sexual Assault Allegations Against Moroccan in Ferrol
A young woman has admitted that she had made up a sexual assault complaint filed at the Ferrol National Police Station against a Moroccan residing in Spain. The Spanish media outlet Elmundo reported that the 18-year-old woman admitted to investigators that she fabricated the allegations. She initially reported being sexually assaulted in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Investigators summoned her to the police station Friday afternoon after they detected 'inconsistencies' in her narratives, leading the woman to acknowledge, in the presence of her lawyer, that her complaint was fabricated. The original complaint had led to serious criminal proceedings, with the woman having accused a young Moroccan man of rape and brutal assault in the Plaza de Espana in the early morning on Tuesday. In her initial account of the fictive incident, the woman described a violent attack that allegedly required emergency medical treatment at the Ferrol University Hospital Complex. Her initial statement indicated that four young men were present in the Plaza de Espana area that morning, though she claimed only one had assaulted her. Police arrested the suspect, who is a Moroccan with a criminal record, immediately following the complaint. He had been held at the police station since Wednesday and had not yet been brought before a court, as the National Police investigation remained ongoing. Authorities are now reviewing the detention status of the arrested individual, while the woman faces potential charges of false accusation, which carry serious legal consequences under Spanish law. Earlier Friday, before the retraction, Pedro Blanco, the Government delegate in Galicia, told the press that 'all lines of investigation were open' and that additional arrests were not being ruled out, including individuals 'in the victim's circle.' Rape is 'a criminal offense' that is 'absolutely reprehensible and repugnant,' Blanco elaborated. He concluded that there would be 'every response, first from the police and then the courts, to punish the guilty party.' Tags: Moroccan arrestedSexual assaultSpainYoun Spanish women

Moroccan coach Tarik Sektioui eyes crucial victory against Angola in CHAN 2024 opener
On Saturday in Nairobi, national coach Tarik Sektioui emphasized the importance of the Moroccan local players' team securing a win against Angola on Sunday in their Group A encounter at the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024). He described the victory as «crucial for the continuation of the competition». «For us, it's vital to start the tournament with a win to boost the players' confidence and foster a positive mindset», Sektioui remarked during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Morocco-Angola clash, which is set for Sunday at 4:00 PM in Nairobi. He acknowledged the challenge posed by Angola, noting that «the match against Angola won't be easy because they are a strong team with significant potential and a coach experienced in African competitions». However, he assured that «our objectives are clear; we are determined to win this match and have prepared thoroughly for it». Reflecting on the team's preparation for CHAN, Sektioui explained, «We initially started with players born in 2000 and later, but the unexpected departure of 11 players to new clubs and injuries to two others impacted our preparations». He added that «the players selected for the final roster have demonstrated technical and tactical maturity, which we will leverage to advance well in this championship». He underscored his primary goal of advancing beyond the group stage with an eye on the title, highlighting the challenges of assembling a competitive squad within a limited timeframe. «Moroccan teams are now aiming for titles and nothing but titles. We have the ambition to honor Moroccan football, even though we have inherited a tough group with strong teams that we respect.» Team captain Mohamed Rabie Hrimat echoed this sentiment, stating that «the national team is determined to win the trophy and the players are aware of the responsibility that lies with them».
