Jadwa Leads a USD 50 Million Investment Round in PetroApp
Founded in 2018, PetroApp is Saudi Arabia's first independent provider of digital fuel payment and fleet management solutions. It is transforming vehicle operations by eliminating cash transactions, reducing fraud, and improving cost control for corporate and government fleets. Beyond fuel, PetroApp also enables access to ancillary services—such as car washes, oil changes, tire and battery replacements—via a seamless, fully cashless platform.
Today, PetroApp manages over 500,000 vehicles for 10,000+ corporate clients through a network of more than 5,000 fuel stations across Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Thailand, and Nigeria, as the company continues its international expansion. It was recently accredited by the Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO) as a qualified provider for government sector services and is preparing to launch its retail offering in the Kingdom, unlocking significant avenues for growth.
This transaction marks Jadwa's fifth investment under its Jadwa GCC Diversified Private Equity Fund, launched in late 2024. It follows the fund's recent landmark acquisition of a majority stake in Makhazen Alenaya, a market leader in Saudi Arabia's beauty and personal care retail sector, highlighting Jadwa's active pipeline across high-growth verticals.
Tariq Al-Sudairy, Managing Director and CEO of Jadwa Investment, commented: "PetroApp presents a compelling investment opportunity, supported by a robust technology infrastructure and strong network effects. The investment aligns with our fund's strategy of backing ambitious management teams leading high-growth, scalable businesses across a diversified range of promising sectors."
Elie El-Khoury, Head of Private Equity at Jadwa Investment, added: "PetroApp's impactful solution reflects the kind of innovation that supports Vision 2030's broader shift toward digitizing critical sectors across the Kingdom. This is further reflected in PetroApp's recent accreditation as a qualified service provider by EXPRO."
Abdullah Al Kasabi, Chairman of PetroApp and CEO of RZM Investment, emphasized the significance of this investment round, describing it as a turning point for the company. He stated: "Back in 2020, we saw in PetroApp a promising model that blends innovation with operational efficiency in serving both fuel stations and corporate clients. Our decision to invest was driven by a clear conviction in the company's vision and its strong potential to deliver sustainable growth. Today, we are proud to welcome Jadwa Investment and Bunat Ventures. This marks a defining milestone in PetroApp's institutional journey and supports our ambition to list on the Saudi Exchange's Main Market."
Abdulaziz Al Senan, Co-Founder and CEO of PetroApp, expressed his enthusiasm about the deal, saying: "We are excited to embark on this partnership at a pivotal stage in PetroApp's journey. Jadwa's institutional expertise will be critical in strengthening our foundation, accelerating growth, and expanding our leadership in Saudi Arabia and beyond. Together, we remain committed to setting new benchmarks in fuel and fleet management innovation, aligning with our customers' evolving expectations and the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030."

Jetoptera and Eanan J500 VTOL Cargo UAS Turbocompressor Map Testing Campaign
J500 Turbocompressor Map Testing J500 Turbocompressor Map Testing Oblique View DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, July 23, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jetoptera and EANAN have marked another milestone in their collaborative development of the J-500, a 500-lb class VTOL-capable cargo drone, with the successful start of the turbocompressor mapping campaign; an essential step toward the realization of the aircraft's advanced propulsion capabilities. At the core of the J-500 is Jetoptera's proprietary Fluidic Propulsive System™ (FPS™), powered by a 250 kW turbocompressor developed by the USA based company, Jetoptera. This innovative propulsion architecture offers a modular and scalable solution designed for reduced noise, enhanced safety, and unmatched mission versatility. The First Engine to Test (FETT) was immediately followed by the Second Engine test campaign hosted by EANAN at its facilities in the UAE. The turbocompressor mapping is a critical step to validate the operability of this innovative modular propulsion system. The two-stage axial compressor driven by a free turbine is being tested for safe operability throughout the mission, from take-off to cruise to loitering, to vertical landing. 'The state-of-the-art setup that EANAN and Jetoptera have built is heavily instrumented to accurately characterize the efficiencies and operability of the heart of the FPS™,' said Dr. Andrei Evulet, Jetoptera CEO and former Technology Maturation and Integration Leader at GE Aerospace, where he led the successful test campaign of the GE9X High Pressure Compressor. 'In the first weeks of testing we obtained results that demonstrate operability of the compressor model design and support our plan to deliver the propulsion system for the J-500 as planned.' Two units are currently mapped; the results so far are promising. The Free Turbine Compressor (FTC-250) represents an unprecedented modularity in design, with the gas generator, FTC and FPS™ subsystems being able to operate in FPS™ configurations for V/STOL and low noise mission stages, as turbofan, bypassing the FPS™ for a dedicated nozzle for highest-speed mission stages. The gas generator itself can be used as a turbojet with the addition of a simple convergent nozzle. The Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) decreases from the turbojet mode (which is the simplest and lightest application for conventional flight) to turbofan and finally to the FPS™, with targeted SFC 2-3 times lower than the turbojet's mode. The campaign also furthers the design of the controls of the aircraft. Unlike common UAVs that rely on rotors and propellers, the J-500 leverages a pneumatic system to distribute compressed air through dynamically actuated valves to the FPS™ thrusters, enabling precise control of the aircraft's attitude and maneuvering. Ulrich Weckx, CEO of EANAN, emphasized the significance of this partnership: 'The J-500 is a symbol of what can be achieved when innovation meets execution. Our collaboration with Jetoptera allows us to jointly develop a revolutionary propulsion-integrated airframe that leverages Jetoptera's unique FPS™ technology, while benefiting from EANAN's testing infrastructure in the UAE. This test campaign is not only a technical success; it's a strategic step forward in our shared vision to redefine advanced air mobility'. Visa opens first Africa data centre in Johannesburg
By Nqobile Dludla JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) -Visa Inc launched its first data centre in Africa on Wednesday, capitalising on the emerging economy's rapid growth in digital payments, company executives said. Speaking at the launch, Michael Berner, Visa's head of Southern and East Africa, said the facility was part of a 1 billion rand ($57 million) investment in South Africa over the next three years. "Visa continues to be very committed to the growth of the economy on the continent and building the data centre, which is frankly one of very few that are built outside of our core locations, which are the U.S., the UK and Singapore, is evidence of this commitment," Berner said. The data centre, in Johannesburg, represents a significant expansion of Visa's global processing network, VisaNet, which powers more than 100 billion transactions annually across 200 countries and territories, the company said. Africa's digital payments economy is expected to reach $1.5 trillion by 2030, supported by rapid advancements in internet penetration and financial inclusion, according to a 2025 Mastercard-commissioned report by Genesis Analytics. In South Africa, contactless transactions now account for over 60% of face-to-face payments, according to Berner. "When we look at South Africa, we really see it as a digital innovator and a digital leader on this continent. So having this data centre here can actually be a launch pad for solutions that we take across the continent," Lineshree Moodley, country manager for Visa South Africa, said. Moodley told Reuters on the sidelines of the event that the 1 billion rand investment was part of a $1 billion investment in Africa over five years, which was announced in 2022. Communications Minister Solly Malatsi hailed the data centre as a vote of confidence in South Africa as an investment destination, adding it "reduces the reliance on overseas infrastructure and boosts our national financial sovereignty".
