Sex and the City star reveals she was 'groped by an older man' while filming

Metro3 days ago
A Sex and the City star has revealed the moment she was 'groped by an older man' during filming.
Kristin Davis, 60, played Charlotte York in the HBO romantic comedy, starring alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, and Cynthia Nixon, from its debut in 1998 until its finale in 2004.
Since then, she has gone on to reprise her role in two films, as well as the revival of the show And Just Like That in 2021, which recently left fans 'completely traumatised' over a bizarre phone sex scene.
However, while speaking on her podcast, Are You a Charlotte?, the 60-year-old actress recalled a 'humiliating' experience when her scene partner 'grabbed her a**' during the filming of season two's episode The Chicken Dance.
The 1999 episode shows Miranda Hobbes' friend Jeremy Fields (Stephen Barker Turner) visiting from London, who falls in love with her interior designer (Carrie Preston).
The four friends are later seen attending the couple's wedding after their whirlwind romance.

Davis' character Charlotte then meets a man named Martin Healy (Mike Dooly) at the wedding.
After he asks her to meet his parents, she agrees, but when she ends up dancing with the father the director of the episode Victoria Hochberg reportedly was 'yelling' at the actor to grope Davis.
Discussing the moment, she said: 'My point of view is that number one, I have to dance with this older man who is going to feel my butt, which I'm mortified about. Okay. Number two, everyone is beyond exhausted.'
She went on to say how she felt like the director had a 'bullhorn' as she yelled: 'Hard, harder, bigger, grab her a**, grab her a**.'
'I'm just like, 'God, the humiliation factor is so high,' and there's like a close-up of him grabbing my butt.'
She went on to say how she showed her 'real mad face', adding: 'If you watch the show and the movies, you know my real mad face.
'I am mad because I'm mad that I had to do it. You know, I'm mad that this man grabbed my butt. It's like mortifying, you know.'
This comes after Davis recently revealed that she was pressured into a topless scene while filming Sex and the City.
Recalling filming a scene during season 5 where she 'flashed my boob', Kristin accused showrunner Michael Patrick King, now 70, of not giving her a choice in the matter.
'I didn't want to do it. Michael Patrick forced me to do it. And he kept telling me like 'it'll be fine, it'll be great,'' she said on another episode of her podcast. More Trending
'And it is. But we were in a restaurant. There were people everywhere.'
Speaking with Jenny Bicks, a writer on the show, Kristin admitted the story was 'not going to sound good' when the episode was released.
However, she added her former boss 'knows' about her feelings.

In the post, she said: 'She crossed streets, avenues, rubicons, so it seemed. She broke hearts, heels, habits. She loved, lost, won, tripped, leaped, fell short, and into puddles. Aged, got wiser. 'Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City,' Parker said. ‌ 'She had dates, drinks, boyfriends, a husband, and truly great loves and romances. She hailed cabs, she ran in heels, and danced with Stanford. She told the truth and she lied. She typed, wondered, wrote, published, grieved, forgave. Got stood up, stood strong, stood out. "She devoted herself to hats, books, shoes, friends and the promise of a new day in her beloved city and the people she treasured most. She has worn shame, pride, honor, optimism and literally countless dresses, skirts, tutus. "Held onto hands, hopes and the very best of people. Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, there will never be better friends and what great fortune for Carrie to come to know and love Seema and LTW, most divine new connections.' ‌ Parker also acknowledged how Carrie shaped her career, noting that the character had 'dominated [her] professional heartbeat for 27 years.' 'I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned, and rooted for her,' the actor added. 'The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore, the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt.' ‌ She concluded by expressing her gratitude to the fans of the franchise and her colleagues on the SATC spinoff. "And Just Like all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us," she said. "I am better for every single day I spent with you. It will be forever before I forget. The whole thing. Thank you all,' she wrote. 'I love you so." Sex and the City's And Just Like That... to end after third season

And Just Like That... is set to conclude after its third season, showrunner Michael Patrick King has confirmed Sex and the City's spin-off And Just Like That... will end after its third series, TV bosses have confirmed. The HBO show, which reunites viewers with the much-loved characters, will cease broadcasting after its two-part finale. ‌ Showrunner Michael Patrick King said he recognised the end was nigh whilst penning the final episode, explaining on Instagram that "it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop". ‌ Despite the cast and crew knowing the programme's fate, they delayed the announcement to ensure "didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season". ‌ And Just Like That premiered in 2021, continuing the original storyline with three of the four principal characters returning. Sarah Jessica Parker reprised her role as Carrie Bradshaw alongside Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes and Kristin Davis as Charlotte York. Kim Cattrall, who portrayed Samantha, chose not to participate in the revival, though she made a fleeting appearance in the second series finale. ‌ Sarah Jessica Parker, who has embodied Carrie since SATC's debut episode in 1998 and served as executive producer, reflected that the character has "dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years." However, she now believes this chapter of her career feels "complete." Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte York, said online: "I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever." ‌ Cynthia Nixon, known for her role as Miranda Hobbs, shared her thoughts: "I can't believe our wild beautiful And Just Like That ride is almost over. It has been such a delight from start to finish. I will miss working with these people everyday SO incredibly much but know we will always be a part of each other's lives. Get ready for a lot more carousels in the weeks to come! And don't miss these last few episodes: surprises in store!" Sarah Jessica Parker took to Instagram with a heartfelt homage to her character, writing: "She changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City. ‌ "She devoted herself to hats, books, shoes, friends and the promise of a new day in her beloved city and the people she treasured most. She has worn shame, pride, honor, optimism and literally countless dresses, skirts, tutus. "Held onto hands, hopes and the very best of people. Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, there will never be better friends and what great fortune for Carrie to come to know and love Seema and LTW, most divine new connections." She went on: "Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. ‌ "The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt. To you all. "MPK and I together recognised, as we have in the past, this chapter complete.
